And with the 11th Pick in the 2009 NFL Draft
JM57 replied to Nightcrawler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love how every Texas player you mentioned....is an offensive player. 41 NFL active Longhorns. Guys on defense include: Casey Hampton, Shaun Rogers, Quentin Jammer, Derrick Johnson, Michael Griffin, Cory Redding, Aaron Ross, Marcus Tubbs and Nathan Vasher. Texas offensive players, I will give you, have been rather disappointing in the NFL as a whole. But you can't argue that their defensive players translate well. -
1. Fire Dick 2. A DE who knows what a pass rush is. Enough of the high motor white guys, they're not getting it done. 3. A center who is of NFL quality. Goodbye Duke and Melvin. You can't get by on brains alone. 4. An OLB who is not Keith Ellison. Keep Ellison for coverage, he's good at that and Mitchell is not.

Exactly. Like I don't expect perfection out of a rookie WR, but jesus christ kid, if it's going to hit your hands could you PLEASE hold onto it? Just once?

ALL ABOARD THE FAILBOAT Captained by James Hardy. His season has been an endless parade of fail, to be honest.
-
You know what they say about CB's in college. They're athletic enough to play WR. But if they could catch the ball consistently, that's where they'd be playing!
-
From lurking around these boards for years and seeing the same response in most parking threads of course!
-
Is it 3:00 or 3:30? (ps I know Hammer's Lot will be open much earlier than this!)
-
Anyone know where I can find one to put on one my CD's for Monday afternoon/night? It would be greatly appreciated!

Before we do that we have to ask ourselves something. Do you really want Kerry Collins in a town where alcohol is so abundant? Could be a bad mix.

With Whitner & Schoebel out for the next month...

3-1, maybe 2-2. You should be able to beat KC and San Fran regardless. Cleveland too, unless Quinn comes out and plays like Football Jesus. -
Maybe you should take something that makes you a little more intelligent or something. Every post I see is you b*tching about something like you have the highest football IQ ever and your opinion should be listened to by all with no doubts. Board was better without you, KTHANKSBYE

TE needs to be a priority this offseason. IIRC, Royal signed a 3 year deal. Michael Gaines update, for those of you who are curious..... 7 catches, 61 yards. All season.

Does Trent Edwards audible out of plays?

Without Norwood's flub, Kelly wins a Super Bowl. As for the Dallas Super Bowls, is it not just a possibility that the Cowboys were a more talented team? Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Jay Novacek and a very solid O-line plus guys like Haley, Norton, Woodson and Maryland on D? No? Just wondering. -
True story. He will openly admit to it too.

Williams put a clinic on. Koppen was getting absolutely manhandled!

I hate Yahoo Sports....but it says they want a 3rd. Seriously? Pull the trigger.

Anyone know how the centers we passed on are doing?
JM57 replied to Watching since 1964's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember being FURIOUS when the Bills passed on Jason Brown for Duke Preston. The fact that Duke is still Duke and Brown has become a quality player in the same role (C/G) makes me mad to this day. Next year, the C from Cal, Alex Mack, is said to be one of the best center prospects to come along in years. Better, or as good as, Nick Mangold. If we're picking in the back end of the 1st round I wouldn't mind seeing Mack or a seam TE (a la Dustin Keller-- Brandon Pettigrew, Travis Beckum, Chase Coffman) in that spot... -
When did Schobel turn into just another guy?
JM57 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We're sorry. Aaron Schobel no longer rushes the passer from the RDE position on the Buffalo Bills defense. Instead, from approximately 4:15 EST to 7:15 EST, Mr. Schobel was busy lining up at RDE or RDT and running crazy stunts with the rest of the defensive line. For example, a favorite call in today's game was Schobel at RDT twisting outside and making contact with Arizona's RT. Effectively, Mr. Schobel was rushing the passer as an LDE....but lining up as an RDT. As you can tell from Kurt Warner taking exactly ONE HIT all game, the stunts on the defensive line were pretty darn effective. As was that awesome lineup they used where the DT's lined up outside the guards, the DE's lined up outside the tackles, and Arizona's C, the weakest link on their line, had no one to block since we were trying to rush from the outside and "contain" Kurt Warner....a QB who doesn't scramble all that well. BRILLIANT! They were forming the pocket for him. -
Still watching the Giants murder the Seahawks. Since you know, I don't have any other choice.

Chris Brown: Bills Inactives: Roscoe Parrish, Terrence McGee, Xavier Omon, Corey McIntyre, Demetrius Bell, Derek Fine, Chris Ellis. Cardinals Inactives: Tim Castille, Elliot Vallejo, Brandon Keith, Alan Branch, Anquan Boldin, Jerame Tuman, Bertrand Berry. --- Hamdan IS active for us. Look for Schouman and Whittle at FB again. Adrian Wilson IS active for AZ, but Bert Berry is still out, as well as Boldin obviously

There's been teams in other classes that have advanced further or won the state championships, why not OP, the year-in, year-out power? It's not like the kids are in awe of being there. I mean, generally when you get that deep into the playoffs, you have your best sophomores called up from JV to practice with the big boys once their season ends. They may not play, but they get the experience of the playoff atmosphere and the initial shock and awe of playing at the Ralph out of the way (I played there myself. The feeling when you come out of that tunnel is unbelievable, almost empty stadium or not). The juniors may be contributors to the team, or they may be on the sidelines. The seniors have probably already been there before. I'm not saying OP's run isn't impressive. I just find it very surprising that with all the talent they have year in and year out, with kids constantly being able to say they've been there before, that not ONE team has been able to break through.
-
Color me unenthused. I fail to see how OP being 4-0 and ranked in the top 5 in NYS Class AA means anything. You know, considering they do it EVERY YEAR and then almost every year fall in the Far West Regionals to the Section V (Rochester area) champion. Choke artists, they are. History: 2007: Lost in NYS Semifinals 2006: Lost Far West Regionals 2005: Lost FWR 2004: Lost FWR 2003: Lost Section VI Championship (Lockport) 2002: Lost Section VI Championship (N. Tonawanda) 2001: Lost FWR 2000: Not a playoff, or bowl playoff team 1999: Lost Section VI Semifinal (6-2 Lockport over 8-0 OP) 1998: Lost FWR Source: http://www.section6.wnyric.org/football/football.htm

I meant that Reed was on the right also. He was outside of Royal, inside of Evans, but he was off the line of scrimmage. I didn't pay much attention to the left side of the formation to know there was a WR split out left also. I'm thinking the 11 on the field were the 5 O-linemen, Edwards, Jackson and Lynch, Royal, Reed and Evans.
-
I believe he said eligible receiver covered by an eligible receiver. Fowler, Butler, Walker, Royal were on the line. Reed was out in the slot and motioned in. Evans was split right but on the line. Royal was an eligible receiver on the line of scrimmage, but was "covered up" by Evans, another eligible receiver, split out on his side. In a normal formation with the split backfield, you would have Evans split left, Royal on the right and Reed off the line on the right.
-
Right side of the line was Butler, Walker, Royal on the line, Reed in the slot, Evans on the line. Evans needed to be on the left side of the formation. It's like when you run a double TE formation to either side. First TE on the line, next TE off the line.
