Demitruis Bell Starting Left Tackle or NO?
JM57 replied to toddgurley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any line that involves Levitre is weaker. Kid's just not ready yet. Give me Bell-Wood-Hangartner-Butler-Walker. -

he may be able to apply for a medical redshirt, and thus a 6th year of eligibility. i doubt he would ever get it though -
Question about tattoos in the workplace.
JM57 replied to Hazed and Amuzed's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I have one on each inner bicep. The one on my left one runs from less than an inch away from my armpit to about 2 inches short of my elbow (can be covered by a longer short-sleeved shirt, just in case we have a PREJUDICED HIRING SITUATION some time in the future). When I got it done, the left arm got done first, and he started on the outside and worked in. I can honestly say the last two letters of the word didn't hurt at all. If I had to rate the "pain" the first 45 seconds are so stung pretty good, but then it was fine for the other 20 minutes or so. The last two letters were more like a pinch or a bee sting than pain. However, if I go through with the one I plan on getting across my upper chest just below the collarbone, I expect that one to hurt pretty good. -
It amazes me that players don't all wear Revolution (Riddell) or similar helmets these days. There's no difference between them and the old school ones as far as on-field vision or anything...and they protect against concussions much better. It's just crazy to not wear them.

Oh I read it the first time. I'm just saying it was all smashed together. Lots of ... 's in it as well. It just read as one big run-on sentence

Paragraphs. They make posts so much easier to read.

This should help the Maybin negotiations along even more. With Moreno at #12 signed, they have a figure to go higher than. With Raji at #9 signed, they have a defensive lineman drafted in close proximity to base a deal off of. At this point, you really don't need Crabtree to sign. You're not going to base a DE/LB's deal off of one that a player at a skill position gets. Raji's deal getting done is most likely more crucial to Maybin signing.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/11746462 really sad to hear this. he's a solid player and was supposed too be one of the top prospects for the 2010 draft. cancer's no joke, here's wishing him a full recovery.

Bills let rookie wear #12 in rookie camp. WTF?
JM57 replied to TheKickIsGood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think any number can be officially retired. Sometimes you just don't touch it out of respect, and IIRC, since Jim retired, not a single person has worn it on the regular season roster. However, when you're filling out an 80 man roster (or more considering we have 30 guys in for rookie tryouts) there's gonna be someone wearing it, at least for a weekend. Not a huge deal, at all, IMO. -
Similar thread was already done before. Trent Cole, Derrick Burgess and a couple other DE's wear numbers in the 50's. The numbering system isn't really *THAT* stringent. Guys in the front 7 on D can technically wear anything from 50-79 and 90-99, as those are considered the "ineligible" numbers for offense.

What I want to know is this: WTF does a 40 yard dash matter for a lineman on either side of the ball as long as he has a quick first step? I'm not a huge fan of the Maybin pick, but can someone please show me ANY scenario where it takes 40 yards to sack a quarterback? A good 40 time means you're fast. You don't need to be fast to get to the QB, you need to be quick. That is all.

Funnier is the fact that Herzlich is one of the top LB prospects for 2010 but he goes in the mid 2nd round

I think what's more important is that you don't have two rookies or young guys playing next to each other anywhere, nor do you have one at center. it's veteran-rookie-veteran-rookie-veteran. Hangartner, as the C, will be the one to read opposing D-linemen and LB's and make the calls for the blocking schemes, not the possibly wide-eyed Wood. That's always a plus. It was one thing Mangold struggled with in his rookie year, and IIRC, Fewell really threw a TON of different looks at the kid that season and it really threw the Jets off their game. Walker and Butler, along with being veterans, both went to pretty prestigious schools in UC-Berkeley and Virginia. Now I'm not saying Lynch is a genius because he went to Cal too, but you know the guys at the glamor positions get the preferential treatment. An OL grunt isn't going to get as much. He's gotta have at least some semblance of above average intelligence to get a degree from those schools.

There's a much bigger difference between shifting from OLB to MLB and from C to G....
-
Seattle had an excellent LB corps in Hill, Tatupu and Julian Peterson last season. They franchised Hill to keep from losing him via UFA, then traded Peterson to Detroit because they didn't want that much money invested in their LB's (IIRC, Tatupu is on a 6 yr 40ish million deal and Peterson makes a decent buck as well). After picking Curry at #4 they're obviously going to owe him a ton of cash as well. I think letting Hill go is a strictly monetary move for the Seahawks. He's a VERY good OLB.
-
Yeah once they got Casserly out of town and Kubiak in as a head coach things started to come together for them. I wouldn't say Super Bowl. It will be tough for them to make the playoffs with those 4 games against Indy and Tennessee.....but they're definitely headed in the right direction.

zOMGZ OUR FIFTH ROUND PICK ISN'T A STAR WAITING TO HAPPEN OH NOEZ the sky is falling, spartacus. the sky is falling. where can i get my tin foil hat?

Aside from the Bills, who in my opinion, had a very solid draft, what other teams do you think picked well this weekend? I have to say my other favorites are Cincinnati and Houston. Andre Smith is a huge risk at #6 but if they can light a fire under him, he's a legit mauler. They also nabbed Maualuga, Michael Johnson, Chase Coffman and Jonathan Luigs. Solid draft right there. Houston got Cushing, Connor Barwin, Antoine Caldwell, James Casey and Anthony Hill, which got this comparison from NFLDraftScout: Compares To: JASON PETERS, Philadelphia -- While this might seem a strange comparison, with added bulk Hill can become a quality offensive linemen. Peters was a tight end during part of his Arkansas playing days and developed into a quality tackle. As a tight end, Hill is strictly a short-area receiver and an extra offensive lineman. Move him to the front of the dining table, beef him up and you might end up with much better value for a mid-round draft pick. ...I highly doubt he becomes Jason Peters. He's 6'5, 265 right now. But at the very least he provides an extra blocker for them in goal line situations who can either play tackle-eligible OR as a blocking TE when they need some extra muscle.

DO NOT WANT MAYBIN. I could definitely deal with Eben Britton though

Don't expect Bills to trade #11 up OR down
JM57 replied to 2020 Our Year For Sure's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
#11 is a good place to be, historically. I made the thread on it a few days ago. Look at the talent that has been drafted at #11 in the last decade. I'll list the ones I can remember. Big Ben, Cutler, McKelvin, Demarcus Ware, Dan Morgan, Patrick Willis, Marcus Trufant and Dwight Freeney are all #11 selections. Going back a little further, you have Daunte Culpepper in 1999 and Tra Thomas in 98. Only player from that slot who hasn't amounted to much since 1998 is Ron Dayne. Who, for all intents and purposes, had no tread left on the tires after carrying an obscene amount of times in his Wisconsin days -
His new favorite team will be the one that dials his number on Sunday afternoon
