NFL draws line on Pinto Ken's bowling ball shots
JM57 replied to Meathead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm disgusted by this. The NFL has become too sanitary. By the time the Lions game rolls around, I hope the Pinto party has a new official home. Somewhere where I can wander over from Lot 3 and take my first shot from the legendary bowling ball. I'm 22 now...I wanted to last year, but shots weren't really in the cards for me when I came to the Browns game last year...considering I had been out til 4 AM for my friend's 21st the night before. -
GOD HELP US ALL. Two of the worst (in the case of Randy Cross)/most annoying (in the case of Phil Simms) color men in the NFL booths, on one Sunday. The only way it could be worse is if we somehow got Cross, Simms AND Rich Gannon in one day (not possible, thank the Lord, because they're all CBS guys) Looks like I'll be watching Seattle at 4:15 with Kenny Albert, the Moose and the Goose. I can't take Phil Simms, every time he speaks I just want him to STFU

I'm saying that I'm fed up too. Obviously. I'm 22 years old, and this state has clearly only gotten worse since I've been growing up. But I don't think Paladino's the guy. You can't go saying how you hate political insiders and rich politicians with only their own interests at hand WHEN YOU ARE A RICH INSIDER WITH YOUR OWN INTERESTS AT HAND. I like some of the things he says. I wish we would clean house in Albany. But I think Mr. Paladino is just a little bit too batsh*t insane to be running the state.
-
Carl's just as much of a politician as the next guy. He's contributed to Democrats, Republicans, this governor, that governor, anyone who will take a little bit of money for their campaign to make sure his next project gets through. He rants and raves about the status quo, but his millions have come from property rented to government entities. He complains about career politicians, but he himself is an insider. This state is going to hell in a handbasket either way, but with Crazy Carl at the helm, that process will be expedited.

I think the best quote about Paladino I have seen is "He is the biggest pig at the public trough, but has convinced the public otherwise"

I usually hate the "we should get this guy" threads,

Locklear is actually probably one of the reasons Hasselbeck has been in "Run for your life" mode for the past couple years. But in a different way than you are thinking. When they played in the Super Bowl (2005-06 season), he was the starting RT. That was his 2nd year in the league, and he started all 16 games. Since then, the injury bug has bitten him pretty hard; he has only started 16 once more, in 2007. He missed 5 games/6 starts in 2006 with an ankle injury , 4 games/5 starts in 2008 with a toe/foot issues and 6 games/6 starts last season, once again with an ankle injury. WHEN he's healthy, Locklear is still a reliable starter at RT. It may just be like TJ Houshmandzadeh. His career isn't necessarily over, he may just not be the best fit for what Pete Carroll is trying to do out in the Emerald City. Perhaps they see new acquisition Stacy Andrews as a better fit for whatever blocking scheme they are running in the new offense, as opposed to what Holmgren ran for the majority of his career. -
Alex Gibbs abruptly resigns from C-hawks

I believe I read in an article on ESPN MVP from my phone that his resignation was health related -
Reggie Torbor agreed to 2-year deal with the Bills
JM57 replied to Bill Cowher's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
During the 2008 offseason, it was reported that Torbor was projected to start for the Dolphins at inside linebacker alongside Channing Crowder, but would face pressure from Akin Ayodele.[3] right from the article. Sounds like some ILB depth to pair with Poz and Andra Davis. -
We need to trade up for claussen!
JM57 replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this is sarcasm, well done. If you are serious, please don't procreate. I HATE Notre Dame, but I can at least admit Clausen has all the tools necessary to be a successful NFL QB. -
"I would be furious if Buffalo picked ______"
JM57 replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tim Tebow Anthony Davis Bruce Campbell Dez Bryant Terrence Cody I'd be elated if they picked: Jimmy Clausen Russell Okung Trent Williams Rodger Saffold (trade back into the late 1st) Derrick Morgan (if both QB's and all 3 tackles are off the board) -
Bills NOT interested in Rapelisberger
JM57 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
According to Adam Schefter, they called the Rams, 49ers, Raiders, Bills, Jaguars, Seahawks and Browns and the Bills and Rams said no for sure, while interest from the others has yet to be confirmed or denied. -
Bills NOT interested in Rapelisberger
JM57 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm betting if any top 10 team goes after him, it will be the Browns. Big Ben was born and raised in western Ohio, attended Miami (OH) and they need a QB. Holmgren knows the value of a QB between working with Favre and Hasselbeck, and maybe they would think getting him back closer to home would help settle him down a little bit. -
Well played, but I'm 99% positive the Toronto game will be New England. I mean, Miami in 08, NY Jets in 09...it only makes sense.

This sucks, I'll be getting my tattoo done at 6:30 tomorrow so I'll have to just look it up when I come home

Redskins interested in Flozell Adams
JM57 replied to mike oxhurtz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Saffold in the 2nd more than say, Davis or Williams in the 1st. Bulaga or Okung? No doubt. But if they aren't there, pass please -

I Pledge Season Ticket Renewals for 3 Years

Oof, you just put your faith in Modrak. Nix? I can get behind. He's an excellent scout and his work helped in part to build the Chargers. Whaley? Same idea with the Steelers. Gailey? I can give him the benefit of the doubt. I mean...he's never really had a GOOD QB to work with, and yet often manages to get a decent offense going. And let's be honest, there's a large difference in the athleticism of say, Kordell Stewart as opposed to Jay Fiedler, yet he made it work with both of them. But Modrak? Someone, anyone, give me a positive about this guy. I feel like he was only kept around because Ralphie would have died if he had to part with his entire inner circle at once, so Guy got the boot instead. -
Bama ran a 5-2/3-4 hybrid type of defense. Think about it. No defense with Terrence Cody in the middle of it is a 4-3. He's as pure of a nose tackle as they come. Their DE's were Brandon Deaderick, Lorenzo Washington and Marcell Dareus. McClain was an ILB, along with Dont'a Hightower, Cory Reamer and Brandon Fanney at the other 3 spots. The outside backers would often move up onto the LOS making it a 5-2 rather than a 3-4

I'm not saying I hate Lefevour or anything, but please, supporters, tell me the common denominator between all of the scouting reports on him. Every single one I've read hasn't said "weak arm" but has said "not a strong arm" I think the most damning is from NFLDraftScout/CBSSports: Arm Strength: Lean quarterback with very average arm strength. Floats deep balls down the sideline and over the middle. Steps into most throws but still does not put a lot of zip on passes over 10-12 yards. Deep outs are wobbly, late and inaccurate. NFL Comparison: Charlie Frye, Raiders ....Charlie Frye? No thank you.

I was disappointed when none of the contestants knew the answer. Granted, the 2 girls were from Minnesota and Dartmouth and the guy was from Alabama. If it would have been a question about the Tide or Auburn he would have rang in in .000001 seconds

Yeah that Chiefs team was also a disaster all around. It was clearly the beginning of a rebuilding phase. They traded Jared Allen, their franchise player, and handed the reins to Brodie Croyle, who promptly got hurt. If you want to talk about a bad QB, look at Croyle that year. 2 games, 2 starts....20-29 for 151 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT. The 2008 Chiefs used 4 QB's--Croyle, Damon Huard, Quinn Gray and Tyler Thigpen. Thigpen completed 54.8% of his passes to a group of receivers that had Tony Gonzalez and Dwayne Bowe...and not much else. Mark Bradley played only 10 games. Devard Darling...who? The Chiefs receiving went like this: Gonzalez 96, Bowe 86, Bradley 30, Jamaal Charles 27, Darling 17. When your BACKUP running back is your 4th leading receiver, clearly the team wasn't working with much split out wide. On top of that, their rushing offense was putrid. 102 week 1, 55 week 2, 35 week 5, 58 week 7, 80 week 8, 76 week 10, 83 week 14, 31 week 17. In 8 of their games they either barely broke 100 yards or were well under that total....and that's because the offensive line was so young and inexperienced. Branden Albert was a rookie at LT. Brian Waters was at LG. Rudy Niswanger was at C. Wade Smith and Adrian Jones split time at RG. Smith was making his first starts since 2004, Jones since 2005. Damion McIntosh started at RT, then went to Seattle in 2009 and only started 2 games for an offensive line that was missing it's LT Walter Jones all season. Essentially, they started a rookie LT, an All-Pro LG, a 3rd year pro making his first starts at C, and journeymen who hadn't started in YEARS on the right side. Their running game was awful, and then they entrusted a rookie QB to put the points up when the defenses knew he was going to pass....and he only had 2 good receiving options. It's a miracle he even completed 55% of his passes. I'm not saying that he is the next Manning...but I think he has a shot at being an above average NFL QB when you look at the big picture of the 08 Chiefs.

Bradford also played almost exclusively out of the shotgun. How can you not be nervous to draft a QB who never took a snap under center? And as a Texas fan, I say the same thing about McCoy. Except I must add I don't think he has the arm strength or accuracy to cut it in the NFL.

Who's likely to take a QB ahead of us?
JM57 replied to dtgolder's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
St. Louis definitely needs a QB, it's just a question of whether they see anyone worth taking at the #1 overall slot. Drafting Suh to play with Chris Long and Laurinaitis would be a solid foundation for what could easily become a dominant front 7 with another solid LB in the mix. Detroit has Stafford, a 2009 1st rounder. Not drafting a QB in 2010, at least not early. KC signed Cassel to a massive extension. I think they have more pressing needs than a QB on both sides of the ball. Like getting some more guys to keep Cassel off the ground, and maybe some WR's who can catch. Tampa Bay: See Detroit, sub Freeman for Stafford. Washington: Depends on Jim Zorn's fate, but with a new staff and regime I could see Snyder grabbing a QB. Cleveland: Depends on Mangini's fate. If they install more of a west coast offense (Holmgren influence) then perhaps Quinn will be fine. Seattle could definitely use a QB for the future. Hasselbeck is getting old, but so is their offensive line, especially Walter Jones at LT. -
2005 for Lew-Port against Iroquois, my junior year. I didn't play at all in the game, but suiting up and running out of the tunnel and being on that field for a game (as opposed to for Jim Kelly Football Camp) was something I will never forget, even though we lost in heartbreaking fashion

They're concussion related migraines, 99% sure. Otherwise he would have been cleared to play already. The protocol with a concussion/ post-concussion syndrome is that you're supposed to go symptom free for 7 days. Say on Monday and Tuesday you wake up with no migraine, but Wednesday you do? Back to square one.
