  1. I know it was early and there was alot of football to be played, but the Bills had just sacked Brooks and NO was ready to punt...with the 7-0 lead at the point and about to get the ball back, the Bills could have been in business to up the score. Instead, Clements gets flagged and the Saints go down and get a FG, and more importantly, lots of confidence. The Saints knew they could move the ball from that point forward.
  2. The 1974 MNF opener classic vs. the Raiders did not sell out, nor did the 1975 game vs. the Giants when the Bills were 4-0 (or somewhere near there...the Giants game was when some hooligan climbed out on the cable that held the netting behind the goal post). Also remember a MNF game in 1984 (?) vs. the Fish that was blacked out.
  3. Buy this book
  4. Wait a minute...I watched the first half of ITNFL last night waiting for the linebackers show on NFL Network...you mean they showed NOT ONE highlight from the Texans game?!?!? BTW, what's up with Peter King...seems there's more plastic in his face than in Paris Hilton's wallet...christ, lay off the double lattes, Pete.
  5. The word "subject" is key here...meaning that it is eligible to be blacked out...do I think that will happen? No. Not a chance. As others have stated, blacking this game out in the Tri-state region would be one big PR mess.
  6. Would be a good game for light blue throwbacks and a white helmet...
  7. I wonder what marketing wiz decided that closing the RWS Bills Store at 4:00 PM on home game weekends made good business sense...
  8. Don't think it was Felser...that name would have stuck...will check "Relentless" and other sources later tonight.
  9. It is true...Ralph wanted to go and open his AFL shop in Miami in the Orange Bowl...the city of Miami balked at offering up the Orange Bowl, mainly because of the AAFC failure in that city. (See Miami Seahawks) Miami thought the AFL was a "fly-by-night" outfit and was DOOMED. Ralph is then enticed to look at Buffalo from a Buffalo sportswriter (name?)...citing AAFC success in the city. Ralph sez WTF, Buffalo it is... The rest, as they say on Peabody and Sherman, is "history."
  10. Wrong. Below zero C maybe, but no way was it below zero F on game day.
  11. This line has me scratching my head, however: "Who could forget the sub-zero cold at the AFC championship game in 1991..." Check me if I'm wrong Sandy, but I was at that game and temp was around 30 with a light mist, turning to a light snow later in the day...watching the tape, NBC's Bill Walsh called it "perfect weather for football." If he means the 1991 season championship game vs. Denver, which I was also at, it was sunny and around 40 degrees. I think he must be talking about the 1993 AFC divisional playoff game vs. the Raiders?
  12. Is the game on TV anywhere?
  13. Yawn....I'd rather watch someguy's grandfather try and catch a bat. Three things Europe has that we don't need: -Socialism -Soccer -The Metric System
  14. Actually, the movie "Number One" starring Charlton Heston, would be most apt... Number One
  15. Any chance getting that tape to Fezmid so he can make DVDs?
  16. "Texans do not scare me." Santa Anna 1836
  17. Glenn, I have been to many of these events...the food is great, but the crowds are HUGE. You really gotta get there when the doors open, eat and get out. (You'll be fighting w/Dave in VA to get in the door first, however...)
  18. Well, if it was on the north side of the canal, it may have been near where the Barge Inn was...which I know was closed down many years ago. Barge was a great place also...two floors of mayhem. Hell, I knew guys who did a cannonball in the canal in the middle of winter...
  19. Thanks for the update! Where was Jimmy Macs? May have been in one of those joints that you listed as closed...Barbers was a good place, on Monday nights they had $1.50 pitchers (remember, I'm talking 1982-84)...you could find that type of change in your couch...and there was always a sign behind the grill: "Fried Smelt, $1.00." As buzzed as I was many times, I never went for the smelt...
  20. Good to see some Brockporters on TSW...graduated there 20 years ago. What's the bar scene like? Canal Side, Northbound, Barbers (vis-o-drafts), Lincoln, Rox, BVI, Caseys (great wings) still up and running?
  21. Did you ask him if there was any place he'd rather be?
  22. Um, no...Jimmy Smith is NOT going to Canton. The only way he gets in the HOF is by buying a ticket. If Art Monk can't get in, a guy who, when he retired, held the NFL receptions record, how in Sam Hill can you state Jimmy Smith deserves to get in?
  23. This is absolutly correct. Comcast is bad news. Wanna hear another Comcast gem? You've all heard about the broo-ha-ha about Comcast and the Asbestos King. Well, just recently, the court threw out Comcast's lawsuit vs the Asbestos King, with Comcast's argument being they were shut out of the O's telecast starting in 2007 because the AK formed his own, third-party network. All the time, Comcast has refused to broadcast's AK's network that the Nats are now on, MASN. The O's will join MASN after their contract with Comcast ends at the end of 2006. Here's the kicker: Comcast is offering two Nats tickets to anyone in the DC area who signs up for cable! That's right, from the robber baron who refuses to show the Nats, they want to take you out to the ballgame, but forget about seeing the Nats on MASN. Comcast marketing folks have really been taking a hit on this in the DC area. At first, people were rallying around them, only in the fact that they were taking on the Asbestos King...but this terrific blunder has really set them back a spell!
  24. I don't know about being the next Lou Piccone, but one more training camp for this guy and he'll be eligible to vote in Pittsford...
