  1. He sure did...go look back in Relentless, v.1, and see how games the Bills came close to winning that season...not only were many games frustratingly close, but without offensive or defensive lapses late in several games, 4-12 could have easily become 8-8.
  2. In the early 1940s, a politically ambitious butcher from West Virginia named Bob Byrd recruited 150 of his friends and associates to form a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. After Byrd had collected the $10 joining fee and $3 charge for a robe and hood from every applicant, the "Grand Dragon" for the mid-Atlantic states came down to tiny Crab Orchard, W.Va., to officially organize the chapter. As Byrd recalls now, the Klan official, Joel L. Baskin of Arlington, Va., was so impressed with the young Byrd's organizational skills that he urged him to go into politics. "The country needs young men like you in the leadership of the nation," Baskin said. Link
  3. This is a pun, right?
  4. Clint Eastwood is directing "Flags of Our Fathers," based on a excellent book. Link I actually watched them film the USMC memorial dedication scene last November, here in Arlington.
  5. The question remains...did you get some?
  6. Is the elephant DirecTV or Comcast?
  7. It's the worst part of training camp...I can deal with injuries, cuts, etc, but in these days of salary caps and rookie slotting, there is absolutely no reason for holding out. I blame both parties: DW for sitting on his duff, and the Bills for sitting on theirs...I love Marv as much as anybody, but for him to say, we can't find DW ("I tried four different phone numbers."), and the NEXT DAY, on the Bills own website, Youboty claims he talks to him everyday...well, this just exposes the weakness of the front office, IMHO. I smell a long holdout, which is a damn shame.
  8. Can you imagine what this summer party season would have been if the Sabres won the Cup?
  9. I guess you could say it's "too hot to trot."
  10. Still say if he's not in camp by the weekend, he may very well sit out the whole preseason. Find it odd that the Bills are putting this on the company web site...find it even odder that a defensive back is one of the last few first rounders not in camp. It's a damn shame.
  11. I think at this stage, DW's either going to sign by the weekend or he's planning on one big, looooong holdout....possibly one that goes through the preseason.
  12. Great reports, guys...but didn't those white helmets look sweet?
  13. For the money, again, for the money...for a good steak dinner, nothing beats Outback.
  14. Was in the theatres, in fact I remember seeing it at the drive-inn.
  15. They will never improve on the 1966 version, which I still believe is the best one. "Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb!"
  16. mmmmm....cream of crab soup Seriously, for the best crab cakes in Baltimore, go to Fells Point to a little bar called Dudas...best in town. Fells Point Really prefer Fells Point to the Inner Harbor...less tourists, more locals, more fun. For good beers, head to Max's and the Cat's Eye Pub.
  17. Second on No Name: cheap, good seafood.
  18. The Bennett's live in Miami, Fl., an area that Bennett grew to love during his off-seasons. "Miami was a place I always visited during the off-season and it was a peaceful place for me," he said. Huh? I guess all those a$$ whoopins the Bills put on in Miami during Biscuit's run left a nice impression of the place...
  19. Ahhhh, the dreaded "Mike Tirico Disease."
  20. NFL Shop Not authentic, but it's the throwback.
  21. Mark Pike Tasker was the heart of the special teams during the glory years, but ask Marv and I'm sure he will tell you that Mark Pike was every bit as valuable. Big play: After the Kenneth Davis TD to bring Buffalo to within 25 during the Comeback game, the "suicide onside," where Christie recovered his own kick, was setup by a crushing block by Pike on the nearest Oiler...allowing Christie to gobble up the ball. Mark Pike gets my vote as the most underrated Bill of all time.
  22. The wife saw U2 at RIT, yes RIT, around that time and they didn't even sellout...said you were able to walk right up to the stage.
  23. Just checked and they're quoting $159/night...since when the did the Hamburg Holiday Inn become the Four Seasons?!?!
  24. Yeah, and aren't those blue and gold uniforms real nice?
