  1. Hmmmmm.........I thought FGs were subject to review now. Remember last season during the Browns-Ravens game, when a Browns tying FG was first ruled no good, then, after it was reviewed and the ball hit the back of the post, was ruled good?
  2. I was last out at Peeble in 2002...like you never played it, but had to go see it. It's a shrine like Fenway, Lambeau, Augusta, etc. What amazed me is that you could walk up to the 18th green, stand on it, and take all the pictures you want...no one was out there to keep you off the course, except for the players. I think it's up around $250 to play a round...so, for me, that's about a buck a shot, which isn't a bad price.
  3. Glad the forceout rule is being discussed...only called 15 times last season? Too bad the rule wasn't changed prior to 2004...the Bills would have won the opener vs. Jax. On the playoff seeding, I could go either way...doesn't seem like a big deal one way or another. As previous posters have said, they need to look at the Shanahan-method of calling TOs right before FG attempts...something needs to be done there.
  4. I said to my wife just after he sunk the 24 footer to win a couple of weeks ago, "We may be watching the greatest athlete of our generation." All due respect to Michael Jordan, I believe Tiger has surpassed him as the greatest sportsman in our lifetime. And please, no remarks that golf isn't a sport and is just a game. Sure, you've got guys like Craig Stadler and John Daly walking around, but look at the shape Tiger is in and tell me his physical attributes do not play a part in his winning. Chinese checkers is a game...golf is a legitimate sport.
  5. Dropping names is so pretentious...Frank Sinatra told me that once.
  6. Jeeziz, after reading that article, you wonder how the Bills were able to stay in WNY...and how the Sabres and Braves made it. (Well, not so long for the Braves) The "situation" in 1969 sounded even more dire than it is now...great find Lori.
  7. No...had to google him...only played two seasons. But he was drafted between Rueben Gant and Gary Marangi, so it's easy for him to be overlooked.
  8. The Yankees themselves, I can tolerate...and their trip to VT was a tremendous gesture...it's their fans who think the sun rises and sets on the South Bronx, that cause the most heartburn. "Rooting for the Yankees takes all the courage, imagination, conviction and baseball intelligence of Spam. It's like rooting for Brad Pitt to get the girl or for Bill Gates to hit Scratch 'n' Win. (This is why I'm proposing legislation that would allow only those born in one of the five New York boroughs to be Yankees fans. All others who root for the team will be considered overdog-loving, Eveready-chucking, bandwagon-hopping, fair-weather, brownnose, pucker-lipped human goiters and be required to turn in their pinstriped underwear or be tossed into the East River with only Chuck Knoblauch to throw them a life preserver.)" 9. Tis a classic indeed... For my money, seeing Rob Lowe getting pummeled in Youngblood is always good for a laugh.
  10. He will always be known for installing the mic in Hitler's picture that hung in Klink's office...The History Channel recently named that one of the greatest innovations of the WWII.
  11. I saw that too and found it kinda odd...Kelly and Kemp would be great, but this team would go in the $600-700M range, no? Seems like alot of scratch for these guys to raise...
  12. First, America at the Rochester War Memorial, 1976...Eric Carman opened. Favorite? Springsteen: Dec. 1980 Rochester; July 1985 RFK Stadium; May 1988 Mountain View, CA. Honorable Mention: John Valby, Penny Arcade, Dec. 1990.
  13. $52 and $26 seems a little steep, especially since the baseball HOF induction ceremony is, ummm...free.
  14. Some of the comments are pretty good..."Shawon Dunston of the Cubs would have still swung at that ball back in the day."
  15. Let's see: No playoffs since '99, no playoff wins since '95, no home playoff game since '96, FOUR straight losses in the Super Bowl...yes, put me in the "miserable" category too.
  16. "And order the big ones...the jumbos. And sauce. A quart, no make it a gallon, a gallon of sauce." Up until the mid-90s there was actually an Adams Ribs in Chicago, on Rush St. I frequented the establishment whenever I was in the Windy City, and several times had the ribs Fed-Ex'd to me. A better tasting rib I've yet to find anywhere.
  17. I remember him well...he was running a marathon (USMC?) collapsed, fell into a coma, and never recovered. The best part about Brenner was that he was never full of himself, unlike George Michael. Yes, Michael was a pioneer, pushed for more air time for sports, blah, blah, blah. But he was so driven by ego, he became sickening. Ch. 4 had a weekend sports anchor, Darrian Chapman, who was a good Buffalo guy. Downed several Blues with him at Grevey's. Remember watching the 1995 division clincher vs. Miami with him at Grevey's. He soon left for better pastures in Chicago, and also died of at a young age, collapsing while playing pick-up hockey.
  18. Don't forget the worst of all-time: Oregon
  19. I've got an M tattooed on each cheek...when I bend over it says MOM.
  20. I am offended that this is not on the off-topic board.
  21. I remember the Rox fondly...their big special was a "Bucket of Rox," six Rolling Rock splits...for some ungodly price like $1.50. The Rox was always THE place for last call...EVERY night of the week. Good pool table too.
  22. Was that the one accross Kodak Park on Dewey Avenue...just down a bit form the California Brew House? If so, I think I remember the joint being called "My Office." But the same jokes apply!
  23. The Barge Inn, right on the Erie Canal, in Brockport, my college town. Sadly, this fine establishment closed soon after the drinking age was raised to 21. But while I was at Brockport, this was among the top five bars in town.
