  1. I was at the game where Theismann had his leg broken...we were in the end zone and with all the bodies in the pileup, we didn't see how bad it was. I remember LT jumping up and down trying to get the Skins' medical staff on the field. Also remember looking in the binocs up at Jack Kent Cooke's box and you could see all the commotion going on...his wife (girlfriend?) at the time was Cathy Lee Crosby and you could see her and others scampering around, visably shaken.
  2. It's been playing all day on the History Channel and I'm DVR'ing it now...looking forward to it. My Pops was at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese came unannounced, Guadalcanal, Coral Sea and some others. Love the color and HD look, but how can it be more realistic than Midway, in 1976, in SensSurround? Don't forget that Spielberg and Hanks are at it again for HBO, coming next year.
  3. I've been e-mailing about every other day: versus@directv.com Actually got a non-form reply last week..."call us, we would like to help you, etc..." I just told them to hurry up and get VS back. I'm afraid, this fight will be very long. If we're lucky, VS will be back for the playoffs, but I'm not counting on it.
  4. I've never figured out why you need your tires rotated. They go around every time you drive the car.
  5. Ronnie Lott dislocated his finger and cut off the tip. Maybe Poz can cut off his .... Nevermind.
  6. I took my sneakers off after the Jackson TD...told the wife "I knew I should kept them on!"
  7. I think that about sums it up perfectly.
  8. I knew about an hour ago, I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight either way... Given the national stage, the Bills coulda made a statement tonight. Instead, they are only what Rocco Mediate is to Tiger Woods.
  9. Worst loss since Tenny playoff, at least.
  10. Jeez, remember when we use to pick up guys like Leonard Smith, James Lofton, hell even "recently" like Lawyer Malloy. Those days seem to be long-gone, I'm afraid.
  11. The Bills went 11-5 and I believe fell into a three (or was it five?) team tie for home-field and lost out on tiebreakers and had to go to San Diego. I firmly believe if they had home field, that team would have went to the Super Bowl. There were two losses to lowly Baltimore that came back to haunt them for home-field in 1980. I was at the one in OP, a game where Bert Jones sliced them up all day. It was a raw, overcast October day if I recall correctly.
  12. I actually feel sorry for him...he never had the opportunity to have a Garbage Plate.
  13. Well another training camp at SJF and another installment of always-excellent photos by Andy. Sort of a rite-of-August...(and late July). Thanks for another year of super pics!
  14. I'm still not over the 1980 playoff loss in San Diego...damn you Bill Simpson!
  15. Mine arrived the other day, but haven't seen it yet. Was hoping that A Town, A Team, A Dream w/Tim Russert would be somewhere on the two discs but I guess it's not? Does anyone (Fezzer?) have this on DVD?
  16. Blurb in the Washington Post this morning was titled: "Billy Mays Stained"
  17. Speaking of lost brothers, what ever happened to Richie Cunningham's brother Chuck?
  18. Another example of why rookie sloting money should be part of the next CBA.
  19. No. You pick 11, you should get an impact player. Period. The notion that Maybin is only a "situational" player makes his hold-out even more odd. Maybe he should take a cue from our president and "re-calibrate" his position.
  20. That's probably the reason...tapes of these games may not even exist. I believe the first two Super Bowls were not kept by the networks and the only tape of these games is the one shot by NFL Films.
  21. Had anyone ever had a bad time at a Valby event?
  22. No crap-o-la...missing an entire week of your first training camp will come back to bite him. For what? An extra $50-100k? As so many have said, the next CBA REALLY needs to address rookie sloting salaries.
  23. Having a four and six year old, I feel your pain. Sounds like the same people who ran this event, devised the rush defense last year...
