  1. 1974 opener and oddly, it didn't sell out, which meant that if you weren't there, in WNY all you had was the radio.
  2. Halftime of the 1990 AFC championship and we were up 41-3. The high-fiving, hugging and other highjinx in the concourse...we knew we were going to the Super Bowl.
  3. I started with the 1996 D&C HyperBills, then migrated over to the TBD we know today.
  4. Got an F in "Beginning Weight Training" at SUNY Brockport. I never went to the class, applied for an incomplete, with every thought of finishing it the next semester after an internship on Capitol Hill. Well, I was fortunate to land a job on the Hill, never went back and needed only two classes to get my degree at George Mason. Administration at Brockport refused to pull the F off my transcripts after my numerous attempts to do so. I'm still bitter about it to this day. I have a 3.5 ungrad GPA, a 3.75 in my major, political science, and that freakin' F stands out like a sore thumb. Bastards.
  5. Really? Imagine in August buying tickets, a flight and reserving a hotel for a Sunday game, and only 10 days out be told, "Umm, we moved your game to Monday night." Not going to happen. And the above is the primary reason the NFL will not flex Monday night games.

  7. Last night's matchup, Indianapolis at Tennessee, was only appealing to people in...Indianapolis and Nashville. Neither team with a hint of a national following. BTW, is there a bigger "I don't care" division in football than the AFC South?
  8. Checked my local beer mart, Total Wine and More in Fairfax, VA and they don't sell it...went to the website and see it's only indigenous to Maine. Dang.
  9. All summer, been high on Founders Session IPA, at about a 5 ABV. Comes in 15 packs and you can get it for around $16. Fall Oktoberfest beers in the fridge this year include Brooklyn, Flying Dog, Dominion, and Great Lakes. All outstanding.
  10. Surprised the 'Cuse is getting the Bills. When Bills/Jints on same time/network, Jints usually shown in Syracuse.
  11. I started Edison Tech in September 1972 also. Second day in, I got my ass kicked by some thugs at a nearby bus stop. Determined then that Edison wasn't the place for me, and transferred back "home" to Charlotte.
  12. May have missed if this link was posted earlier, but Rochester D&C recently did an article on the subject: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/news/local/columnists/andreatta/2017/09/22/andreatta-when-boys-swam-nude-gym-class/694542001/ I went to Charlotte High, featured in the story, in Rochester (pronounced "Sha-Lot") in the 70s and we did indeed swim in the raw. Never gave it another thought until I saw the article. The swim coach pictured, George Graham, was also my football coach.
  13. Orton? Simply put, no. Deserving Bills from the "Drought Era" are Freddy Jackson, Kyle Williams, and maybe Lee Evans. London Fletcher a long shot.
  14. My biggest beef is with the doofus in the tunnel end zone seats who waves that big, distracting florescent rag when the Bills are attempting a FG or XP.
  15. Jeeziz, a guy with a .30 BAC...dangerous, very dangerous.
  16. Watching on TV, there seemed to be a whole bunch of orange-clad Denver fans in the lower bowl. I don't recall a huge Denver following in WNY and I don't believe all of those folks flew in from the Rockies...anyone who was there, did it seem like an unusual number of away fans?
  17. After seeing the non-call in slow motion several times, it was a pretty blatant miss by one or more officials...the linebacker used the facemask to bring Shady down and it should have resulted in the ball being at the 25, first and ten with the clock stopped. I don't get the arguments about it shouldn't come down to this...the game was on the line in the final two minutes. This is what happens often in football. Yes, a complete game for the 58 minutes would have negated the need, but it didn't happen. The Bills had a chance to win and one play can change the dynamic of the game...this would have changed the play calling in the final minute, with two timeouts. I'm also tired of hearing about Zay's "drop." This was certainly not a Ronnie Harmon-like play. It would have been a great play for him to come down with the ball...it was hardly a "drop."
  18. "Spit-shine Tommy, that's what we called him...he'd make your shoes look like F#@$%& mirrors."
  19. The entire soundtrack is great...it actually inspired Ed Sabol to make NFL Films as much about the music as the video.
