  1. LOL, great analogy!
  2. When I hear "war movie" I think WWII films, of which the following are my favorites, in no particular order: Saving Private Ryan...classic movie, with the first half hour being a cinematic masterpiece The Great Escape...just one of the best movies ever Bridge on the River Kwai...William Holden yelling "Kill Him!!!" near the end one is one of the film's highlights The Longest Day...stellar cast Patton...George C. Scott in his best role..."Rommel you magnificent bastard...I read your book!" A Bridge Too Far...great soundtrack and cast The Dirty Dozen...came to Netflix this month, and I watched it for what my wife claims is the 47th time In Harm's Way...bad special effects, but a compelling story and cast Guns of Navarone...good story, and Gregory Peck in a great role Other honorable mentions: Tora, Tora, Tora; Midway; Inglorious Basterds; Battle of Britain; Is Paris Burning?; Twelve O'Clock High; Memphis Belle; Devil's Brigade; Sands of Iwo Jima; They Were Expendable; PT 109 WWII movies that need never to be seen again: Pearl Harbor; Battle of the Bulge...lots of potential but a horrible film For some reason I can't really explain, I've never seen Das Boot. Hope to see it sometime soon.
  3. "If he would have missed that field goal I'd have dropped him from the plane in Minnesota or North Dakota," Buffalo tailback Thurman Thomas said. http://articles.latimes.com/1991-12-09/sports/sp-262_1_extra-point
  4. Wow, sorry to learn this...RIP.
  5. I remember Bill Polian saying he was running down the hall at OBD screaming with joy when the Bills signed Christie. I believe the fan base was equally as enthused. I don't recall any backlash...at all. Norwood was beloved after SB XXV, but the next season proved his undoing. Remember the Raiders game in LA? Thurman offered to throw him off the plane on the ride back if he missed the game-winning chip shot. By 1991, anything over 40 yards was considered iffy, at best.
  6. Sal's two Relentless books are why he'll always get a pass from me. Sure he's critical, the guy spends half the day on the Thruway having to report on a downtrodden franchise, but for a fourth down pass by Andy Dalton, would now be looking at a 19 year drought. And you think he's hard on the Bills, his bitching about the Yankees is even more annoying. For a team with the second best record in the AL last season, and who went to to the ALCS the year before, you'd think he was watching the Orioles.
  7. You can't tell me the WNY media doesn't troll these boards for stories: https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/football/nfl/bills/2018/11/05/buffalo-bills-ticket-bargain-bad-season/1892052002/
  8. Yup, the Bills Super Bowl era can pretty much be summed up in those two paragraphs...sadly...
  9. First dozen or so seasons were appointment TV, haven't seen much since. Although for the last week, FXX was running a Tree House of Horror marathon and those standout as the best episodes.
  10. Still the best car chase in film history. It was playing last weekend in a few theaters around here but I missed it.
  11. I think the Bills would have been better off if McKeller didn't catch that ball. They only gained six yards but it ate up about 15 seconds. That short gain did not warrant the time it took.
  12. First season I can recall with any type of clarity
  13. Yup, and being up 41-3 at halftime, the rest of the game was just one big raucous party...pure joy, elation and every other adjective you can think of. The closest WNY has ever gotten to a New Orleans Mardi Gras atmosphere.
  14. That's the key to the discounts and free items. I'm too invested in Verizon/FIOS to go AT&T. I keep getting the $100/off for ST Max as their very best offer.
  15. I see you're drinking early today...
  16. Heard on the radio coming in today that the Skins will soon turn to Groupon to sell tickets...to the home opener I know the Bills have discounted December games in the past, but I can't remember them selling through an outside source. Skins on Groupon: https://www.groupon.com/deals/fanxchange-washington-redskins?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=us_dt_sea_ggl_txt_ttt_sr_cbp_ch1_nbr_k*washington redskins discounts_m*b_d*washington-dc-RTC-Coupon_g*RTC-Coupon-fanxchange-washington-redskins-BROAD_c*294568378784_ap*1t3_t*aud-66704149883:kwd-536924719432&loc_physical_ms=9061285&loc_interest_ms=&template=ETA17&gclid=CjwKCAjwlejcBRAdEiwAAbj6KbtFE0IFNx_gBDixW3Xh9tNY2B-W2S3PmuBf8THfcya6psQAeNu3zxoCD8AQAvD_BwE
  17. My favorite crab cake in Baltimore is at Duda's in Fells Point, a little hole in the wall on the corner of Thames and Bond.
  18. Tully's on Jefferson Road is a good scene
  19. Good episode but I thought it was the weakest of the four so far. WAY too much time spent on the pizza eating contest. Also, I wish these were more timely, as this one focused on the Carolina game, which was almost a month ago. Still a great series, but they need to be at least a half-hour long and a bit more timely.
  20. I'll be there with this crew: https://www.jottnew.com/buffalo.html
