And how would you like to be that fan who bought tickets, flight and hotel for a game on Sunday and two weeks before, have the game moved to Monday? That scenario was discussed when the NFL first looked into flexing games to Sunday/Monday nights...and thankfully, they came to their senses and left Monday alone.

This is indeed an issue. The beer barons have been lobbying the NFL for years to keep out-of-market games limited because some of their biggest customers, sports bars in particular, have told big beer that if ST becomes easily accessible, their Sunday business is dead. So, that's another voice in Goodell's ear...a big advertiser that contributes millions to the NFL's bottom line.

I use to troll the bus lot for extra tickets. There were always no shows because some dorks overslept or were too hung over from the night before. I found most times the group leader would be more than happy to unload a ticket for $10...meant a free beer for him inside the stadium (this is before you needed a loan to buy a beer inside). If groups are still issued paper tickets as described above, maybe this is still an option?

It's just another carriage agreement squabble. Apparently, the ESPN/Disney carry agreements purchased several years ago by DTV are up September 30th. Hence, the sabre rattling by both sides, not unlike the CBS/ABC debacle that many DTV customers encountered this year. My DTV complaints are well documented on this forum but years ago, the station blackouts were usually commonplace on cable and DTV seemed to avoided these persistent battles. Now, DTV seems to have fallen in-line with their cable brethren and blacked out channels if agreements aren't reached. I'll say this though in a sort of veiled defense of the satellite and cable operators: ESPN, and the ESPN family of channels, are by far the most expensive for operators to broadcast. The cost of live sports has skyrocketed in recent years, to the point where these carriage agreements become financially unstable. When the agreements are up, ESPN needs to recoup their financial investments, to the tune of jacking up prices to never before seen heights. What's the ultimate solution? Maybe the ESPNs of the world stop being so reckless in their negotiations with the various leagues (BTW, ESPN is paying the NFL more for MNF than NBC is paying the NFL for SNF). What it may ultimately come down to, but this is years away, is that these networks stream their own product without carriage agreements, for example ABC or CBS stream independent of any satellite or cable carrier. Networks will miss the carrier revenue but the relationships with the cable and satellite behemoths are reaching a price point that will soon be untenable.

The Germans have a word for it: "Schadenfreude."

I recall seeing fans cutting up turf after the 1980 Fish opener as well. Saw one guy leave the field with a remnant large enough to cover my living room. Later, I saw him in the parking lot on the ground crying...said six guys jumped him and took his turf and ran off.

About to present my neighbors with a $2800 estimate to take down an old oak tree that branches out (pun intended) over my yard. Had an arborist out last week to talk about cutting back some of the branches and he said the tree is on the way out and should come down. I'm about 90 percent certain the neighbors will blow me off and I'll be on the hook for about $900 worth of branch trimming. Any advice on how to approach said neighbors is greatly appreciated.

I was at the Rams game and don't recall fans on the field afterwards...some Bills came out of the locker room back to the field to dance with some Jills but that was about it.
