  1. What makes the NFL great is that less is more. I liked the 16 game schedule...17 is just an odd number. But if you have to go to 18 games, eliminate the preseason entirely, it's unwatchable, and give each team two byes. Also, do the byes by division...makes little sense for a team to get a bye early while the rest of your division is playing.
  2. If you haven't already, be sure to watch the ESPN 30 for 30, "Requiem for the Big East." Outstanding documentary on 80s-90s Big East basketball.
  3. Dang, the Sabres were so fun in those days...hardest ticket in the NHL.
  4. 1964, the original GI Joe with WWII accessories. Seem to recall in later years, I also had the British, German, and Japanese Joes. Also, the Green Beret guy. Electric football, 1968, Browns vs. Giants. Sent away for the Bills and Raiders and they took months to arrive. Same Christmas, Hot Wheels set that included the turbo blaster that shot them out on to the track. 1971 table hockey game that we played into the wee hours of the night...metal players that we bent the sticks to give them a curve. 1973ish-Talking Football from Mattel where you put the little records in a player...you choose the offense and your opponent chooses the defense. Also around that time, Monday Night Football from Aurora, with Roger Staubach on the box.
  5. Can't believe I didn't mention that in my earlier post...I went when it was just the D-Day Museum...got there about 1:00pm and they had to chase me out when they closed at 5:00. Could have spent several more hours there. I understand the expanded museum, covering all of WWII, is excellent. Need to get down there to see it.
  6. Living in the DC area, the Smithsonians get the nod...Franklin Institute in Philly also very good, along with Revolutionary War museum. Rock & Roll HOF was a pleasant surprise as I thought it'd be just Hard Rock Cafe without the hamburgers. When the kids were little, the Play Museum in Rochester was always a big hit. Baseball and pro football HOF also get huge props.
  7. And a clunker in Indy, the last game of the season, where the Bills blew a 14-3 lead. The day before, Washington missed a chip shot FG at Cincinnati that would have given the Bills home field. I'll always believe that 1988 team had the goods to win the Super Bowl, if only the AFCCG was played at Rich.
  8. Great report! Thank you!
  9. Perhaps these people are investing in the team because it's cheaper than buying PSLs?
  10. The bus lot was the go to spot for me. There was always someone too hung over and missed the bus and the group leader would unload tickets really cheap. Don't think I ever paid more than $10 for a ticket.
  11. Have you seen the cost overruns associated with construction of the new stadium that the owner will now have to pony-up for?!?!? Ralph is cheap.
  12. I have a bigger problem with his USAA commercials...
  13. A lot to unpack but on Thursday night Amazon games, I don't think they're eligible to be flexed.
  14. I would think this would be available to The Athletic subscribers, since it's owned by the NYT.
  15. Patiently waiting for BBB to make a move.
  16. I don't know why Nike, New Era, '47, and the rest don't bring back these styles...in adult sizes of course...old bastards like myself would eat this up.
  17. I've watched the three seasons of The Bear, and the restaurant Carmy has opened up is a place I'd never go to...we go out to eat when we're hungry and the dishes prepared at that restaurant just don't appeal to me...simply put, I'd never go to a place like that, but that's me. Our family rarely goes out to dinner anymore...it's just too damn expensive and half the time, I leave disappointed while dropping $150-200 for a meal for four. We have a great local chain here in the Northern Virginia area called Great American Restaurants. It's about a dozen spots, the food is always good, the service is excellent and you leave feeling you didn't get ripped off...our nights out usually consist to those restaurants.
  18. We were big on JC Penney since they shipped to the store which was only about 10 minutes away (Northgate Plaza on Dewey Avenue in Greece, NY). In about 1970, NFL stuff really started to appear big time in the catalog and it grew during the decade. My brother and I had jerseys, hats, etc. from several teams. Kids, these were the days before Fanatics and Amazon.
  19. This was one of more memorable threads in the history of TBD, along with NJSue, RIP, looking for homework help. Sad news indeed. Rest in Peace.
  20. Ralph is cheap
