  1. Here are a couple of alternatives, if you'd like to check them out. http://hostingwithch...mpare-features/ http://hostingwithch...mpare-features/ I know you said you are particular. These are pretty darn good. Also, I can customize by adding additional features. You can also check out the virtual private server options. The 1st link is fully dedicated. The second link is semidedicated and what I believe would be a great fit for you. Here is some information about the actual data center. Just click on the "take a tour" link. http://hostingwithch...ted-datacenter/ This is just one of 5 data centers. Also offer services in data centers located in the UK, Finland, Bulgaria and Australia. The dedicated and semi dedicated servers offer 2.5gigabit connections. You want fast, right?
  2. A VM is still going to share memory and processor resources. I know that you can set a guaranteed percentage, but when traffic is high on this site, there are some issues. The nice thing about VM is that you are isolated from the others using the same physical machine. The problem is how many virtual servers are on the same physical machine? And how powerful is this server? You take that raw power and divide it by the number of virtual servers. Going semidedicated provides a much larger percentage of the processor and memory while saving money. Fully dedicated is best but also the most expensive.
  3. The problem with cloud computing is you are sharing resources(memory, cpu) with others. You can choose a guaranteed amount of bandwidth but reliability could take a hit. What about semidedicated? Going this route gives you guaranteed memory and processor percentage. You get raw processing power plus a lower price. The price is lower because it is still shared but it is only shared with one or 2 others. Dedicated is nice, but you can go with a 24core server with lots of memory on a semidedicated machine(more than enough to run forum). From what you describe, I suspect your issues occur during games when people are furiously typing away. Not a lot you can do about it but throw raw processing power at it(In some cases you can go with SSD hard drives too). The good news is this route is a lot less expensive than a fully dedicated server.
  4. SDS, are you using a dedicated, semidedicated or virtual private server? The reason I ask is because I run a hosting service. You can put the site on a dedicated server in Chicago. What you get is: 2x Opteron 4170 HE 2.1 GHz (12 cores) Processor 16 GB DDR3 RAM 4 X 500 GB SATA2 HDD 12000 GB Traffic or Opteron 4170 HE 2.1 GHz (6 cores) Processor 8 GB DDR3 RAM 2 X 500 GB SATA2 HDD 11000 GB Traffic or Intel Atom D525 1.8 GHz (2 cores) Processor 4 GB DDR3 RAM 2 X 250 GB SATA2 HDD 10000 GB Traffic Prices vary and I can create a custom package to give you exactly what you want as well. I also have semi dedicated servers and virtual servers that could be an option as well. If you want to talk about it just PM me. BTW, I have my prices set so I make 20$/month on all of my packages, but since I spend so much time on TSW, I could set something up that would likely get you more for your money.
  5. He'll hold out until training camp is over and then sign somewhere.
  6. With Dareus out...you betcha.
  7. You see these guys play week to week. Sometimes the OL actually does a decent job, then the next week stink it up. If you really want to see why that is look what happens when a lineman actually gets a hat on the right guy. They usually win those match ups. The problem is that they look confused out there, especially when a defense stunts. An OLman is ready to take on his assignment, but his assignment instead backs up and runs around the next OLman, leaving the 1st OLman standing around with his thumb up his ass. That's coaching. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to play on the OL, but you do need to know how to hand off an assignment to the guy next to you.
  8. I think you need to look up your stats. You might be surprised by how far off you really are.
  9. No Dareus and no Gilmore spells trouble. NE is going to roll right over us.
  10. If I were going to fire someone it would be Pat Morris(OL coach).
  11. I have seen post after post of coach bashing, concerns about offensive productivity laid at Nathaniel Hackett's feet, needling remarks about the head coach's in game decisions etc, etc... Usually I prefer to keep an open mind by looking at what the coaches have to work with. It's not always about the coach but today, I think I'd like to join right in with the coach bashing. It's not who you think though. There is one area that I believe has underperformed and I truly think that the coach is simply not getting the job done. When I think about the head coach, I see a guy with some old school traits that comes from having played the game. He chose to hire an old school coach, a guy who has been coaching since he(Marone) was a player in the league. He is a fundamentals coach that doesn't adjust to changes in this league. He preaches as long as your fundamentals are up to par, you will win your matchup. But what if the man, you are matching up against isn't the one you are supposed to be matching up with? This is the modern NFL. Everyone on both sides of the ball is trying to disguise how they are going to attack and fundamentals are great so long as you realize that you have to be smart enough to attack in the right places. Who is this coach that I believe has been left behind? He is the coach of arguably the weakest area of our Buffalo Bills offense yet no one ever looks in his direction because Doug Marone is a former OLman. The man I want out of here is offensive line coach Pat Morris. We had two very good linemen in Eric Wood and Cordy Glenn before this year started. Now we have a promising RT in Seantrel Henderson. What bothers me is the Bills have added two other young men in Cyril Richardson and Cyrus Kouandjio but neither have been able to start. Are these guys really that bad? Or are they more worried about fundamentals than the ever changing schemes that NFL defenses throw at them? The OL is getting blown up on running plays the very second the ball is handed to a running back. Pass protection has improved throughout the year, but a lot of that is the QB simply knowing he doesn't have a lot of time. I want an OL coach who understands today's NFL schemes and can coach in this new environment. Pat Morris comes from a bygone era. Those days are gone and this guy needs to go.
  12. Just think, Orton and EJ are actually the ones throwing them the ball. I know they both are merely mediocre at the position(QB position that is), But don't you think the OL is at least part of the problem?
  13. Everyone wants a QB. Will the Bills be able to land one with no 1st round draft pick? And out of this year's crop are there even any worthy? It doesn't look good. The only way I see the Bills improving the position is by getting lucky in free agency. Plus, I think this team would be better off anyway with a veteran at the position rather than another promising rookie who could very well crash and burn. IMHO, the area of greatest emphasis should be the OL and TE, though I really the think the TE position is better than most of us think. We all have seen our RBs run wild, just not this year. It really annoys me when people think that the position can somehow be upgraded. We have have some serious talent at the position but there is always someone who wants to dump great in favor of a question mark. We need to run the ball better but that won't happen by removing our running backs. Our big men up front suck. Blocking schemes are getting blown up. You can argue that point until your blue in the face but I'm not budging from my stance on this subject. Back to QB.... I have a notion also that our mediocre QB position can improve by a large margin with better protection. Again this is a blocking problem. I will admit that I am very unhappy with Orton. I have seen him feel a little pressure and throw the ball away rather than do everything in his power to keep a damn drive alive. This really irks me, but at the same time, I also know this is no easy position to play. I'll still take Orton over EJ unless EJ can come out next training camp and show significant improvement. Still if there is a veteran out there who can outplay Orton that is the route I want to go. I don't want a rookie....just don't trust them. Other areas to keep an eye on is defensive line. We may resign Jerry Hughes or let him go in favor of someone else. Also, this defense stinks when Marcel Dareus is not on the field. Someone needs to eat up blockers and I do not like to see Dareus hurt. Defense however is a secondary consideration though. Our offense needs to be corrected. In short.... OFFENSIVE LINE OFFENSIVE LINE! OFFENSIVE LINE!!!
  14. I wonder how many would have their panties in a bunch over a Marone to Michigan and Harbaugh to Buffalo scenario.
  15. I think they call it blocking. If the Steelers beat the Chiefs it's not an issue.
  16. Man, Chargers are dropping like flies.
  17. Do your eyes get all bugged out when some fan from another team says they like your QB better than theirs?
  18. I saw someone posting about how old some players on SF team are. Gore was mentioned.
  19. And Stevie dropping the game winning TD ball is a bad thing how?
