  1. I'd like to steal Clay right out from under the noses of the Dolphags. He's a good TE/HB that would be able to do what Roman asks of him.
  2. Maybe the plan is to wait until next year when Darius' contract is up.
  3. Looks like the Bills will make an offer. This is getting interesting. Resigning Hughes and then the possibility of getting Clay...... Clay is one of the top FA TEs out there and fits the mold that Roman envisions for his offensive schemes. The front office is operating like a well oiled machine right now. I'm just amazed. The Suh signing could effect Miami's decision to match Buffalo's offer.
  4. Can the Bills afford 2 100mil DLmen? That would be a 1st anywhere in the league.
  5. Jay Skurski ‏@JaySkurski 9m9 minutes ago McCoy's reworked contract saves $4.75M in cap space for 2015. I have the Bills with $21.605M of room to take into free agency and the draft. Bills are getting creative. I think Hughes will stay.
  6. Davis could be a cap casualty. He has 8mil on the final yr of his contract and SF may not want to pay him. Was asked to accept a pay cut and didn't accept after a down year last year. They may be looking for a trade now and if they cannot he could simply be cut.
  7. I agree. Marcel is who they absolutely have to retain and that is going to cost big bucks. The Bills have all ready paid big on the DL. They cannot do those big contracts for 3 guys. Still, I think with Mario getting a monster 50mil guaranteed, he may be open to the idea of a minor pay cut. The Bills may be at 8mill/yr now. Maybe another 2mil will be enough to persuade him to stay.
  8. If I were the Bills, I'd tell Mario we will lose Hughes because we cannot justify paying so much money on the DL. Ask him to take a bit of of pay cut so we can retain Hughes and keep the DL together.
  9. Don't the Iggles pick up the tab for Kiko's contract? Or is that all ready figured in?

  11. Meanwhile NE throws TD after TD to their TEs. I don't want Revis. There is younger talent and Buffalo has a long history of developing great CBs. The key to our secondary is a mix of CBs and Safeties that are communicating well on the field(and even LBs that can cover). We all ready have one of the best secondaries in the league, if not the best. But I agree, spreading the money around is a better option. Perhaps pick up a great TE. We don't necessarily need to keep Searcy and Spikes, but I do think Searcy would be a huge loss and Spikes would be a moderate loss. Hughes I'm hoping gets signed up for the long haul soon. Fingers crossed. Toes too. Not sure I can stand to stick around and watch it all unfold. Wake me up when it's all over.
  12. Some of the OLmen we added last year were pretty green. It isn't unreasonable to expect an improvement this year. Always seems to be someone who surprises us with better than expected play. Look what happened to McKelvin. Before his injury last year he was playing at a probowl level. People tend to forget that players actually do some times develop. Who knows, maybe even EJ will develop.
  13. The front office is just trying to drive up the price? They just want Cleveland to waste some of that cap space so they can make a bigger move in FA?
  14. Yea, I know. But this Revis thing is crazy talk. People start going all ga ga over a name that they heard of. I think Sammy would love to line up against him and I think Sammy would come out on top too. I don't want that. I want a young hungry recruit that will be around for a while. And won't cost so much. Buffalo has a long history of developing great DBs. Keep the trenches beefed up and develop the back end.
  15. Keep on spending your money on expensive toys and see where it gets you, Mr. Snyder. Revis is 29yrs old and OK McKelvin is the same age. I knew someone would start the comparison game. Frankly, you never even read my post. I even stated that I did not say that McKelvin was better. Again, the Bills pass defense is right now ranked 3rd best in the league. You think Revis all by himself is going to make it better, and after losing a 10 sack per season player like Hughes? Revis puts his pants on one leg at a time. He is going to fade just like a lot of great player do. Let's sign him up quick so he can fade on our roster. When was the last time you heard Charles Woodson's name in the news? Or in Pro Bowl discussions? Did you even know he was still in the league?
  16. Hughes alone accounts for 20% of Buffalo's sacks over the last 2 seasons. That is a position that cannot be ignored. Revis may marginally improve the secondary but not the way you are thinking. Then the notion of kicking McKelvin to the curb to make room for Revis is ludicrous too. McKelvin has been improving his game plus he is a great special teams player....plus he is younger. How much longer can Revis play? And at what cost? If you want to see magical, fix the offense. There seems to be a preconceived notion that that Rex is inflexible. That the secondary must be man coverage for his defensive philosophy to work. Revis is a horrible idea. Just imagine how awesome our defense would be if they weren't on the field for 3/4 of the game week in and week out. For some teams, Revis makes perfect sense. For Buffalo, a competent offense puts the Bills in a position to dominate. The defense today is all ready championship caliber. You are not going to get much better than this. Also, just think of the other defensive backs on the team who have been improving their game by working together....communicating together. You bring in Revis and tell all of your guys to play man coverage, you are asking them change from a system that is all ready working very well for them. Revis is agreat player....granted. But people are pretty quick to jump on the bandwagon without considering the whole picture. I know Rex is anxious to put his own stamp on this team, but I just think we have young talent that is more than capable on the D side to dominate. Revis is a household name but for years teams have tried going that route. Washington comes to mind. They liked to stock up on big name FAs. Didn't work out for them. We can pick up some great FAs this year. Young ones that actually improve areas that are not all ready considered a strength. Our passing defense is ranked 3rd in the entire NFL. And that is while the offense is ranked 21st in time of possession. Keep the offense on the field longer and this defense will lead the league. Revis doesn't do that for us. Buffalo is 6th in interceptions. Revis had 2 interceptions this season. McKelvin had 4. Revis played very well for a long time. Earned a couple of big pay days. Big enough to draw national attention. He is good, but he is not the best corner in the league anymore. Now don't go getting the impression that I think Mckelvin is better. I did not say that. But you are actually suggesting that paying big money for a name is the right move. I happen to think it would be a huge mistake. The Buffalo defense is all ready very dominant against the pass and Revis will not make it better. The guys we have are young and have continued to improve. Why in the world would you want to break that up?
  17. Another stratosphere? Really? We have a top 5 defense without Kiko now. Revis is 29yrs old and going to command big money. Our secondary is one of the best in the league now without Revis. This is wasted money. Money that can be spent on fixing things that need to be fixed. Even if we cannot retain Hughes, we still need to find a replacement. Our offense has been a perennial bottom feeder for years and we need to bring in a veteran QB. The concept of working on things that are actually weaknesses seems to be lost on people here. Everybody has heard of Revis though, so that must be a good get. I don't buy it. Our OL sucks. Our QB situation sucks. Our RB and TE spots could use some improvement but hey....lets go buy something we don't need.
  18. That's not a dream.....it's a nightmare! Putting an " * " next to it, flushes all of the thrill right down the toilet for me.
  19. I cannot imagine Whaley being on the same page as this. Plus, I think Rex will always says positive things about his former players. He may have some strong feelings about them, but I think even he knows he cannot bring in a bunch of them. Plus I think ESPN likes to stir the pot a little too much. Really don't see things shaking out this way.
  20. Exactly. And we want to bring in a veteran QB too. Maybe a FA TE. It adds up. People salivate over guys like Revis, but the Bills would be far more productive if they turn weaknesses like OL into a strength. Taking an all ready great secondary and trying to improve it could be a huge mistake. What if we sign Revis for one year and he is injured early in the season? I like Revis. I just think the Bills are better off making splashes on the offensive side of the ball and retaining our guys on defense.
  21. Bad idea. Bills all ready have one of the best secondaries in the NFL. Revis is a big money player. Buffalo has far more pressing needs to spend money on and the secondary ain't it.
