I expect a significant leap forward from the defense. No excuses for this unit this year. They need to set the tone early and prove that they are elite. On offense, I expect to see better redzone/3rd down performance. This unit has a bunch of stars and they performed admirably last year but they certainly have no room for complacency. I want to see improvement. On special teams, I do not want to see easy missed extra points or FGs. I want to see kick coverage units making stops. I want to see deep high punts. Finally, I expect to see fewer penalties. There were way too many boneheaded, unnecessary penalties last year. This needs to end now. Amen! Headed to the fridge now. Zubas colored Blue Lite.

I am thinking Cincy over Jets Ariz over Patriots Seahawks over Fins Bills over Ravens Bills all alone in 1st place.

We could be all alone in 1st place in the AFCE this week. How sweet would that be? -

Gilmore is going to be a stud this year....and Darby is going to feed off of it. Aaron and Corey will be on fire too. We have a serious no fly zone shaping up under everyone's noses. -

Week 1: Ravens' Game Preparation - Inactives Announced

While there is some truth to this, it is not the kind of thinking I want my team accepting before the game is even played. Believing in winning is imperative if you are going to push yourself over that hump. You do not get to be the best unless you actually know you you can get there. Sorry but road to the playoffs is never accepting failure before you even step on the field. -
McCoy - Best player no one is talking about

And you are adorable in them too -
Beat the Ravens week one, in their house. Get the team(offense, defense and special teams) running on all cylinders early. Gotta start off winning early and often to even have a chance this year. A slow start will be too much to overcome with this schedule. A tall order with Darius and Lawson out the first few games. Amen!

That is an opportunity they certainly would not pass up. I just don't think anyone would take that bait.

Good point. Our OL coach is noted for taking a bunch of nobody's and turning them into a productive unit. Wonder how much that is playing in. All the credit is going to Roman but It could be the overall coaching talent on this team.

I've been optimistic since last season and even after injuries, suspensions, off field stupidness, the optimism just continues to build. Of course I'm also a hopeless homer, so there's that.

Bills Cap Situation,Tyrod & Gilmore Deals, Future Outlook
Rockinon replied to rquinn619's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are really going to try and get a deal done ASAP IMO. I think they are willing to pay a fair amount and perhaps even push the envelope a bit higher. Gilmore wants to be paid like a top corner but most will agree that the top salaries for corners has gone to extremes. Gilmore will be asked to take less than what his agent is gunning for. The agents job is to is to attempt to increase the NFL's value on CB's, creating an advantage for anyone trying to sign a DB. Bottom line is that it is still a negotiation. Buffalo wants a fair deal but may be willing to pay more than they initially offered. The front office would benefit greatly for getting a deal done now rather than wait, so they are certain to offer a higher dollar amount. What they don't want to do is wait for the market to increase a DB's value even more. A couple other things that are playing in though. The Bills have some very talented DB's behind Gilmore. This gives the Bills a small amount of ammunition but Gilmore is still in the driver's seat. He commands a big contract because he has proven himself. That does not grow on trees in the NFL. Hopefully a deal can get done. All it takes is finding some common ground in the negotiating room. -
Who helped and hurt their case tonight?

He was booming some. I really liked Kevon Seymour. Kid was making a lot of plays. Very consistent. Had one pas interference and even that was questionable. -
Aaron Williams - possible concussion

Wish he would learn how to hit without using his head. -
I have to disagree. More isn't always better. NE is a poor poor example because their success is so closely tied to Brady. Personally, I think that roster would be a bottom feeder without Brady. It's easy to think that their defense is great, but it isn't. They do not spend as much time on the field because Brady will literally dink and dunk for long drives that allow the defense to rest longer. Don't be fooled by their draft philosophy. They do what they do out of necessity, not because it is the best philosophy. They are consistently in the playoffs and do not get to draft high, therefore for them, increasing numbers by trading down is the only play they have. The Bills on the other hand have traded up to get better quality. Perhaps this isn't the best philosophy either, but over time, their will be more pro bowl caliper players added to the roster. I think this philosophy creates better long term results. NE's method works for them but I do not think it is a good fit for us. At least not until we have QB that can depended on the way NE does.

AstroNotes5: : Bills Camp Monday August 8
Rockinon replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The tidbits on personnel groupings are nice. Running some 21 and 22 personnel. Have you noticed some changes from last year in types of play calls? Aside from the over the middle plays. Any motioning to an empty backfield? Or other types of presnap movement?
