  1. Interesting article. The chart shows that Cole Beasley was in the slot 94% of the time and Stephon Diggs 51% of the time. I remember seeing an article that the Bills want receivers that can play both in the slot and out wide. The passing concepts seem to be pretty good on this team. Josh's new QB coach, Joe Brady is supposed to be great at drawing up passing plays too. I like the direction things are moving and can hardly wait to see who is added to the WR room. Personally I think our smartest move is to find help in the draft, but Locket would be a pretty nice move too. Beasley, McKenzie and Diggs have been very successful out of the slot. No reason I can think of why another slot WR wouldn't be successful too. Having a QB that can throw anywhere on the field really is fun too.
  2. Stockpiling draft picks gives you ammunition to bundle picks and trade up. Going to be interesting the next couple of years to see what Beane is able to pull off. This team doesn't really need a lot of draft picks. It just needs a small handful of really good ones.
  3. Why is he a projected 2nd rounder?
  4. Good point. It seems to me that the defensive alignment rarely changing also makes it easier to grade individual players. I almost wish the defense would throw some more wrinkles in. Mix things up more. There is talent on the DLine. I think the coaches should allow the boys a little leeway to run some more exotic looks. Have a hunch it would be effective because these guys are rotating and staying fresh. It also puts pressure on the offense because they will have to be prepared for some new coming. To me, it just seems that the coaches are keeping the DLinemen in predictable alignments and not changing things up.
  5. I'm excited to see how Kromer gets the OL going. He may even make Ford a better version of himself. Coaching is a big deal for a unit like the OL and Kromer not only is adept at teaching the OL how to attack but also at drawing up running plays. This could be one of the biggest moves of the off season. The passing game under Daboll was exceptional, but his running plays left much to be desired until after midseason this year. I believe Kromer will have some play designs that will help the run game right out of the gate next season. A couple of pieces added to the OL could really make this offense legendary.
  6. I absolutely do think a rookie CB will see the field before a rookie WR. There's far more depth at WR. The CB's on this team are mediocre to awful with the exception of one. No WR is just going to handed starting role. After listening to Beane's interview, sounds like he wants to protect Josh. Could be we are both off.
  7. You could be right. With Allen still slinging it to Diggs, Davis, and Beasley, the offense is still going to make plays. Don't forget Knox and the running backs can catch too. Thing is, any WR brought in is likely just going to be a backup. I want the #1 pick to be a significant contributor. Someone who is actually going to play a lot of snaps. Look how long it took before Davis started getting significant reps. A beast on the OL or a really good CB will do that. WR will take a long time to actually contribute. Not to diminish the importance of playmakers on offense....I certainly see the need. In all honesty though, I think the front office will continue to prioritize the defensive line.
  8. WR is a sneaky need for this team with McKenzie's and Sanders' contracts ending. Speed is something the offense needs to be successful.
  9. I went with Elam as well. He would probably see the most playing time out of the gate compared to any others here. If you want an upgrade with our first pick, it has to be someone with a chance to play a significant number of snaps. I also like Linderbaum. Excelled as a wrestler, shotput and baseball in HS. Kid has game. He would have been my pick if he was a little bigger. At 290lbs, not sure he is a 1st round guy that can take on NFL Dlinemen. Looked great in college though.
  10. We need an OL coach since Daboll poached ours. Running 12 personnel would be possible with another legit TE. I'm thinking though, that we really need a good OL coach asap to help evaluate OL talent before the draft. I'm thinking it took way too long to get the running game going this year. Coaching issue? Maybe. My biggest worry is that the OL takes a step back next year. Hope they have a plan. The running game finally took off when they started doing things like the pin & pull. They wanted to be more of a power running attack but once they started pulling those OLmen, they began to get the run game going. Whatever the personnel grouping they have, the number 1 issue will be to continue their success running the ball.
  11. This makes sense. Don't have the cap to get a quality CB in FA. Then again CBs are not the only expensive FAs out there. Whatever they pick, they have to hit it out of the park. Offense makes sense too. Middle of the OL and WR. We need some speed on O. Couple of different ways to look at it.
  12. A new OC may want to make a bunch of changes and then the players themselves would have the learning curve instead of the OC. An in house promotion would allow the players to hit the ground running. Not saying this is the best option, because hiring experience has advantages too. Going to be interesting to see which way they go. I think I am actually leaning toward an experienced OC because the offense took half the season to figure out how to defeat two deep safeties. They did, but a different perspective on offensive game planning may actually be a good thing.
  13. I want to know what comp picks we get and when.
  14. I agree. I also think the way to beat KC is to win more games than them and then force them to play in our house when the playoffs come. It seems some want more on offense to send it into the stratosphere. Looking back on the season, I keep coming back to the team's inability to stop the run. KC put up over 140yds running last night. NE beat us by running. Colts beat us by running and being multi dimensional. And anyone who watched that Tenn game could see that the D needed 3 guys to tackle Henry. The D needs some run stuffing muscle. It also needs to be better at diagnosing plays (Is it a run or a pass?) On offense keeping Josh upright is paramount and this offense clearly isn't itself if it can't run the ball. Josh's needs trump the needs of the defense, but man it's a close second place. Now how can we solve both problems in the off season?
  15. I expect Buffalo's defense to throw some different looks at Mahomes and to disquise coverages. The key is going to be pressuring him until he makes a mistake. This is not just about the guys on the back end. I see a lot of people worried about specific matchups and thinking that Mahomes will expliot them. To a certain degree, those are valid arguments, but keep in mind that, as a whole the defense is playing a very strong game. There is a reason Buffalo is number one and it isn't just because of a few good DBs. Mahomes makes mistakes and this D is good at forcing those mistakes. It could be just one mistake in 60mins that turns the tide of the game. Question isn't whether Mahomes is going to hit his receivers. It's whether he can play mistake free. Will he take a sack, throw an interception, fumble the ball? The Bills defense is a group of 11 guys all doing their part to force a mistake and Mahomes, just like Allen make mistakes. This game is going to be about who makes fewer. The way I see it, Buffalo has the advantage here.
  16. Tell that to the #1 defense in the NFL. This is not just on the offense.
  17. And Singletary is 4th. Add in the great things McKenzie has been doing and this offense could really go off against this team. I really think the Bills are going to dominate in this one. I'd be curious about KC's stats on defense in recent weeks. Honestly don't think they are going to be able to keep up with us instead of the other way around. Yes, losing Tre hurt, but so far it doesn't look like there has been a drop off. The Dline is stepping up, the secondary is stepping up and the LBs are too. This will be an interesting matchup for sure. On offense, there are a lot of names that pop out too. McKenzie, Knox, the entire OL, Allen, Diggs, Davis, Singletary. It seems like everyone is producing in big ways. KC could very well be running into a meat grinder.
  18. KC going off on an inferior opponent in Pittsburgh isn't news. Let's see how they do against the #1 defense. Their defense is going to try to bring heat and pressure Josh. It's not going to work. Buffalo has everyone healthy on the OL and in case no one has noticed, Tommy Doyle is now the blocking TE. That's right. An extra OT is blocking for Josh and Singletary. What Buffalo did to a top 5 defense last week was amazing. What do you think they are going to do to this poser KC Defense? This game should result in about the same outcome as the regular season game. A Buffalo win. KC can open up their bag of tricks on offense if they want. In fact, please do....
  19. The addition of a 6th OLman helps too. Kudos to Tommy Doyle as well.
  20. NE doing our job for us and running out the clock.
  21. Nope. Just muffed holding the ball for our kicker.
  22. We'll see 6 OLmen occasionally and hand offs to Singletary. Watch out for those RPOs and pin & pulls. Or maybe Josh keeps it and runs. Or maybe he keeps it and passes. Then after running it, watch out for the play action pass. Oh, and watch out for those bunch formations, especially with NE's depleted secondary. Josh and the receivers are going to go off in this game. Screw the cold. Let's make Belichick big mad. Josh with another one of those shovel passes for a TD would be sweet.
