  1. Love this signing. Howard was more highly rated than Knox coming out of college and the difference between his QB in Miami & his QB in Buffalo is like night and day. He should flourish here.
  2. Some new pieces on the OL that can challenge for starting positions is good. Let them battle it out in training camp and see who rises to the top of the heap. Love the Saffold pickup. This one, don't know if he will be a starter, but it's always good to have more competition.
  3. It's a bit surprising he was having trouble finding a suitor in free agency. I think he could end up being better in this offense than those 3yrs.
  4. He was a 1st round TE coming out of college. This could very well be an underrated signing. And if he clicks with Josh, he won't want to leave next year. There is plenty to be optimistic about with the moves Beane has made in the off season. This is one of them. Now I wonder what Beane's thoughts are on Poyer. I think Buffalo very much wanted to run 2 TE sets last year but didn't have the horses. I like the signing. Gives the offense more versatility.
  5. At this stage, there are few teams that are going to be willing to pay big for CBs. The price will start dropping the longer this drags out.
  6. Agreed. Took half the season for the OL to figure out how to block last year. That needs to change. Honestly, I think our running backs are above average all ready. The line didn't do them any favors at the beginning of last year. Really hoping Kromer can get things rolling more quickly.
  7. I'm just blown away with how few holes we have. Beane was on fire in free agency. A lot of sneaky good pickups like Saffold, 2 DTs, a TE, an underrated WR.... I'd really like to see a quality CB, another IOL, a WR, a LB, and punter. The rest is just gravy. Stay humble and hungry and this team is going to do great things!
  8. I'd add working with his new TE as well. The offense is going look different this season, I think. I wouldn't be surprised if McKenzie becomes a bigger part of the offense as well. Lot of moving pieces here
  9. I noticed that the Buffalo Bills are paying the second highest salaries to players in the NFL. The Browns are #1. Don't think we are getting a CB until draft time now.
  10. I'm just glad to have him back in the fold. As for the money side of it, I think both Bates and the Bills are happy. All the other stuff doesn't really matter. You can argue that the Bills paid too much or that Bates overvalued his worth or whatever, but if both parties are happy, there really is no need to over think it. Every contract has it's risks. Both sides try to get the best they can in order to secure the future. Trying to break down all of the nuances of contract negotiations with limited information just seems like a headache to me.
  11. I'm more inclined to think they would be looking for someone that can play G/C.
  12. Somebody delete this thread before we are completely jinxed.
  13. We need to be thinking about how to beat teams like the Titans and Colts. Can't allow these rushing teams to control time of possession. Those are the kinds of teams that gave us the most trouble last year, with the exception of KC. Our defense was pretty good against passing teams and really struggled with rushing teams. Hopefully, the revamped DL solves some of those issues. On offense, I agree with the coach and Beane. We cannot afford to lose our fastball. Need lots of weapons for Josh and we need to keep him upright.
  14. A very good point. With better talent at CB, you can leave them out there on an island so you can blitz more often. If you can get by with just one less person in coverage, you open up the possibility of taking down a QB or getting a TFL.
  15. Barkley would be a 3rd string QB. You can't have 3 active QBs on game day.
  16. Ask Josh if he is willing to contribute to keeping his friend on the team.
  17. Nice article about the acquisition of Saffold, who has a history with Kromer and some insight into what type of blocking scheme the Bills are likely to employ. https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/buffalo-bills-ol-breakdown-rodger-saffold-signing
  18. This. Our current RBs are good enough if we just had a line that can run block. Plus, WR has more value with a QB like Josh tossing to them. And CB, we just need more help there.
  19. Beane has said protecting Josh is a priority. Not sure how much he is willing to invest there. So far, we have 2 OLmen from FA. Gotta get CB and WR help simply because of the number of players lost. Wonder if one of our WRs decides he doesn't want to retire since he would have a legit chance at a Superbowl ring? We do need RB too. Everyone who says best player available is crazy if they think that decision isn't influence by need. CB makes the most sense to me. Perhaps a trade down. I believe there are quality WRs later on. Someone was saying that trading down and acquiring more picks would actually lower the cap. All I know is, Beane has surprised me every single draft. This is a guy that knows how to think outside of the box. Have no idea what he is going to do next. I think CB, WR do the most to help the team in the 1st round, but WR is deep. OK, now I'm rambling... Gotta be CB, right?
  20. Both of the tackles drafted last year were considered to be the most athletic in their class. Maybe they are banking on Kromer being able to do something with them and the rest of the OL for that matter. I think there is some logic to that. My opinion is that the OL was playing re-actively instead of taking it to the defense. That is certainly true in regards to the run game. It took half the season before they began to figure things out. Just seems to me that coaching has a lot to do with that. Still think we need more help on the interior. We need a backup center. The one we have is one concussion away from a career ending injury. We need some real power on that interior or at the very least some guys that know how to pull. Can't run with power if you don't have any and can't pull without some speed. I think the coaches took to long time to figure out what kind of a line we had last year. That is something I think Kromer will see right away and be able to suggest who to get to help out. The real need though is not focusing so much on the run but rather keep Josh upright.....something that should be teachable. I'm kind of excited about how things will play out. The OL clearly had issues through the first half of the season. I think issues will be addressed quickly this year.
  21. He is listed on the Bills roster as a LB. The way defenses are run today, they don't really designate whether they are running a 4-3 or 3-4 anymore. There have been so many hybrid schemes that take some principals from each and modify what individual players are expected to do. Miller is a speed rusher and at 250lbs can barely be called a DE. The Bills will have their own spin on his role. In a 3-4 they used to call his role the joker. But there are still variations. He can change from play to play DE/LB. That's just what defenses do nowadays. What you don't want is to pigeon hole what his role will be. Offenses have become very varied. Defenses must do the same or be left in the dust. So in essence, Miller will be both. A LB and a DE. He will have a role that can change from play to play, but if I had to guess it will mostly be to get after whoever has the ball and blow s**t up.
  22. McKenzie becomes the backup QB. There, problem solved.
  23. Pro Football Focus has Settle ranked as the No. 106 free agent in 2022. PFF’s projected contract terms for Settle is one year at $4.25 million, with $2.25 million total guaranteed.
  24. What if no one bites on Cole Beasley? Could be a trade piece once the season starts. A WR goes down injured somewhere, someone could come knocking. In the meantime, I'm happy that we have one less position to fill.
  25. Lot of C/G in that list.
