While everyone is ragging on Davis, he'll keep doing the dirty work....then when everyone least expects it...he'll catch an 80yd bomb. The Bills wanted him to be a number 2 and in case Diggs goes down, he could be a number one. That is not what he is, but he does make a big play from time to time. I've been so infuriated watching the Bills target only Diggs and Davis. Defenses catch on to that too. Using him as a down field blocker and getting the ball into the hands of a multitude of other play makers is just playing smart. It also opens things up for Gabe when the defense doesn't know who it's going to next. Early in the season people were talking about the 2 TE set and how to get a single high safety so Gabe could do what he does. That all sounds nice, but when you neglect to put the ball in multiple hands, spread the wealth, you are doing a great disservice to your team. Our new OC picked up on that right away. The route concepts opened up last week. The presnap motion was back. Everyone on offense was involved. Even Dion Dawkins was running all the way across the line to put a hat on someone. More than that, it looked like everyone was having fun. Meanwhile, Davis was quietly doing the dirty work so the rest of the team could. Ain't nothing wrong with that. He's going to make some catches too, and opening things up for everyone else is exactly how he does it. Davis can be a number 2, just not the way everyone thought at the beginning of the year. I think Davis' struggles this year is because he has not been put in position to succeed. He isn't quick twitch and able to plant a foot and gain quick separation. He's pretty good at deep routes, but those short routes are better off going to Shakir, Kincaid, Cook. Everyone has different skill sets. I'm happy to see a play caller recognize that and start playing to the team's strengths for a change.

Dalton Kincaid: Beane's best pick since Allen?
Rockinon replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
We did give up draft capital to acquire Diggs too. Yes, I know it was a trade...still.... -
This is a very underrated skill. Gabe happens to be excellent at it. His 1st couple of years as a number 3 WR, that's what he did....block. The result was big seasons for other reciever such as Brown, Beasley, Diggs and Knox. While he was busy doing all the dirty work, defenses pretty much forgot about him. Then Josh began feeding him the ball, with fantastic results. Hopefully, this can be duplicated. One of the things that has infuriated me this season is all of the forced throws to Diggs. Perhaps this method of getting the ball to other pass catchers, using Gabe in a way he obviously excels, is just the ticket. This offense is really good especially when Josh is spreading the ball around. Gabe makes that easier to do and it should not be underestimated. Just my two cent....

Jets are just not very good, even on defense. They seem like they are playing angry all of the time and it ain't working. -

Ben Solak (The Ringer) Analysis of Josh's Decisions this Year
Rockinon replied to JohnRVA's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the solution is much simpler than many think. This cannot be an all Diggs, all the time offense. Gabe has been inconsistent and the other skill positions are all guys that are fairly new to the offense. Josh must really just start trusting his new weapons and getting the ball to them. We've seen some of that over the last few weeks. Kincaid is becoming a legit weapon. Cook is getting more opportunities. This needs to be the focus of the offense....simply getting the ball to everyone else. You cannot just quit giving them opportunities because one play goes badly. There is some good talent here and Josh's trust needs to expand and these weapons will only get better with each and every rep. This offense like any offense needs to spread the ball around. I think there is also too much focus on trying to outsmart defenses with game plans and not enough just letting it rip. It is obvious Josh only seems to trust Diggs and that is a shame. I'm actually encouraged that Diggs popped up on the injury report. Perhaps getting some additional practice reps with other players will be helpful. The only way this offense becomes a well oiled machine is to put the ball in the hands of Cook, Kincaid, Shakir and company. It's that simple. Diggs is great, but he's only one man. -
11/5/23 Week #9 SNF GAMEDAY Bills @ Bengals Pregame Thread

With a 3 man rush even that play may work. Or an RPO with Josh running. Or a QB draw. Or hand off to a RB. Lots of options here. -

I think Cincy is going to be surprised by Buffalo's #1 ranked pressure rate. Put Linval in there to take those double teams and let the rest of the DLine eat. That BS where Burrow escaped the pass rush last week was ridiculous. His luck just ran out. -

If Cosell is correct and the Bengals rush 3 and drop everyone else in coverage because of a hurry up offense, the run game is going to be big. Running out of hurry up is effective too. I hope they do this. Also, Josh can keep it and run. Please Cincy, drop all those people into coverage. -
Buffalo's pass rush is actually superior to last year, even without Von Miller. I fully expect to see Burrow very uncomfortable in this game. Make no mistake. Cincy is in for a fight they won't soon forget. And I think Josh and the offense are going to put up some good numbers too. This game is going to be good.

My apologies. I meant to leave the above in the Off to Cincy thread😆

True, but I do believe that some of these games, they have overcompensated. Forced Josh to be a traditional pocket passer a bit too much. He was in his head a bit too much instead of leaving it all out there on the field with some RPOs and scrambling. I hated RPO's last year because it seemed they did it to much, but you are correct, it certainly a balancing act.

I have skimmed through much of this thread. Just can't be bothered with the complaining and negative takes. Cincy is a good team, but they have had their struggles too. My take is that Cincy caught SF at a good time, just like they caught Buffalo at a good time last year. Good but a bit lucky too. Buffalo is again reeling because of injuries but the defense is still holding its own. I think both defenses, as a result, are fairly evenly matched, and I am optimistic that some of the young players on the team are showing signs of becoming really great starters. On offense, there are many new pieces and they have been getting better each and every week. Josh, last week seemed to get out of his head started playing with fire and passion. Cincy is going to have a hard time slowing this train down and might be in for a big surprise. I think their defense is suspect. Statistically, they have been good against the pass but who in their division is really a great passer? Josh is going to find success in the pass game and a blend of running, RPOs and play action is going to keep that defense off balance. They are going to be dealing with a better OL too. This could be a grind of a game, but my gut is telling me that the Bills are about to open a can of whoop ass. My only concern is defense. Has anyone noticed that Poyer has been playing a hybrid Safety/LB role? It seems to be working but time will tell. The addition of a big DT would be genius and allow this 3 safety look to handle the back end. It is clear that the defense is experimenting, but the coaches could be on to something here. I do not feel like the Bengals are going to score a lot of points. They haven't been so far this season, and until they prove that they can, I don't think they will. This could very well be a game where Buffalo's offense pulls ahead and then just keeps the foot on the gas. Our guys want to bag this game more than they do and the coach, right after the loss to Cincy last year talked about being physically outmatched. The ain't happening again. The Bills are going to come out swinging in this one. Bank on it.

I think Josh needs to run, get that adrenaline flowing. When he is trying to simply be a pocket passer all game, he looks lethargic, like he's bored. Josh is so much better with his hair on fire. This is true of many athletes. That edge that you get when both your mind and body is jacked up on an adrenaline rush is what he needs. Saw signs of that last week. Hoping to see more of that this week.

Oh, this game could definitely get ugly..............................................for the Bengals.😆

Josh Allen - DNP Wednesday Practice Designation
Rockinon replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Or it could be nothing and just needs a bit of rest. Just soreness from landing on it. From Josh's comments, that's all it sounds like. -
You people trashing Knox don't know what you are talking about. That was a great punch at the ball by the defender there. Knox had his back to him and never saw it coming.

Jennings faking it

I was gonna say don't run here, but Cook got the 1st down anyway

That's the last time NE scores

Cook and Kincaid are playing well today.
