First, there is no reason to. We can cross that bridge when we get there. Second, that decision is not important until we actually see his final contract year performance. As a business owner, would you decide a guys salary a year in advance? I wouldn't.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me but Fitz reminds me of Jim Kelly a lot. Kelly used to drive me nuts with some of the boneheaded tosses he'd put out there, but he was a leader. All of these people who blather on and on about statistics and completion percentage just can't seem to look at anything else. Fitz is well respected and people are willing to do things for him that they just won't be given the opportunity to do with some rookie QB. The Bill's would be crazy to break up that by bringing in a snot nosed youngster that has no business being given such a commanding role. At least no a first rounder. I'd be happy with a rook if he is selected after the 1st round and not expected to just come right in immediately. Besides, we need defense, DEs and LBs desperately.

Nix has stated on more than one occasion that the Bills will be drafting for the 3-4. After last year's poor production though, there have been a lot of different things that they tried to do. They know they have a guy that they can build around in Kyle Williams, but we all know he is not a prototypical NT for a 3-4. I have a feeling that our draft guys realize this too and are not going to try and make our current players be something they are not. They want to put them in a position to make more plays and not get "ball and chain" married to a scheme. The hybrid talk by Gailey indicates that they want to build off our current strengths by putting our play makers in a position to succeed. That being said, they will draft the guy they think will have the greatest impact regardless of whether they are projected as a 3-4 or 4-3 player. I really think that they want someone next to Kyle "The Wrecking Ball" Williams to put some real pressure on offensive lines. To me this sounds like it would be a 3-4DE/4-3DT. Someone that can do both. This way it will be a top draft pick that will play next to our current probowler and have a chance to really dominate. As for Von Miller, I really like him. I just don't know if the Bill's will be willing to take him at #3 and try to find someone to go next to Kyle later. They said they want at least 2 more DEs and it seems to me that they will want one in round one.

Defense Offense They did not bring in Wannstedt so they can set him up to fail. The defense will be the focus and likely the Bill's first pick. Anyone thinking a QB will be taken with their first pick so he can sit on the bench, needs to go seek out professional help.

The big number of elite DL prospects means we have an opportunity to load up on dominant defensive talent. Taking a flyer on a QB who wouldn't even start would be just plain dumb. If a QB was considered so good that he could come right in and be better than Fitz I'd say pull the trigger. Expecting any of the QBs in this draft to do that is a pipe dream. None of them impress me that much.

Deep Dline Talent + Position Scarcity = DL Round 1, DL Round 2. Simpler. Better chance of success. Also, there are no elite QBs in this draft.
