Chan's plan for training camp
billsintaiwan replied to AxelRipper's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
exactly. he was ranting about on the front line...where? ah yes. cuba. there wouldn't be a front line there if we didn't insist on maintaining a cold war base. if anyone couldn't handle the truth, it was the colonel. it was a fine rant though. i think jack did something like fifty times before he was satisfied. -
Worst NFL stadium issue you have had, anywhere
billsintaiwan replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This isn't my story, it comes from my uncle. It was a Monday night game in the 70's and he was on acid. The game got a bit "like a pinball game on tilt", so he went to take a leak and saw a little kid trying to wake up his father who was passed out with his head in the pisser. "Wake up, daddy. wake up!" -

buffalo bills security stole a can of pringles from my grandfather and i in 1985. other than that, it has been all good. -
Did anyone else buy that bottle opener that plays Van's call for Christie's game winning kick in the the Comeback? Mine lasted a long time despite frequent and enthusiastic use.

But that wasn't the point of the post, was it?

I hope his golf tournament got plenty of support. I remember meeting him when I was about twelve years old at a UB football game. This was way back when and they played at the old field with the hill on one side. My grandfather's friend ("Lefty" Helms from Clarence, I think or maybe Jack Hesslink) received some local award and we got a lunch and game gratis. Hank Bullough was still coach of our Bills at the time. I remember Van was sitting behind us at the game and I was loudly complaining about the restrictions placed on Kelly in the offense, hoping he would say something. He finally looked down, smiled and said, "My money is on Jim being around a lot longer than Mr. Bullough." The guy is a class act and I wish him the best.

OK, assuming you are a man, let's say BR was going to do you in the cornhole. Would you say "This isn't OK - we shouldn't be doing this" or would you say "STOP! THIS IS RAPE. SOMEBODY HELP ME!" or some such thing? Expressing discomfort with the time, place, or manner of the act is not saying "NO. This is rape." Nothing in that transcript leads me to believe that this young woman is credible. That being said, it is possible she like meant to say like, you know, it wasn't, really like cool. But who knows. Depending on the context, those words could conceivably mean "NO!" It isn't clear. I've seen enough of this board to know that people don't change their minds very often, so this is the last I'll post on this topic. If you think that a person should be charged or prosecuted based on this woman's testimony, then you just don't get it.
-
I don't know what kid of guy BR is, but did anyone read the transcript? The chick couldn't remember what position she was in when she was getting it? And as far as no means no goes: 'This isn't OK. We don't need to be doing this.' Read more: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10161/10645...m#ixzz0qd4tIdYr What does that mean? Not here, not now? More than enough reasonable doubt in that transcript to give BR a pass in my book.

Exactly. Now that we have real, old school football people in charge, the pouting routines will come to an end. Too bad Lynch is a ditz. Big fan of the Nix and Gailey thus far.
-
It'll be nice to see a Simpson carrying the rock for the Bills again.

this is the one. chan 'the man' gailey. i reckon we'll like him this time next year.

Anyone Else Surprised at the Number of...........

exactly...the ncaa is the biggest exploitation racket in sports. you don't get paid when your knee gets popped, you get to tell stories about how you could have been a contender. -
Who says we need a receiver?
billsintaiwan replied to BillsObserver's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah, he was something at hawaii. and june jones's guys had to learn to read defenses on the fly, so he might actually be serviceable one of these days -
Top ten reasons to look forward to next season ....

there you go! -
i can see them signing peters to an extension this time, but the man had three years left on his K last time. i blame preston for acting like an idiot. he is a fourth year guy who should know better. i would blame jauron for having him on the field, but option two was who?
-
i don't know that i agree with you regarding preston, but your points regarding jauron are correct. i hope, and i do use the word hope in its fullest sense, that jauron relaizes the importance of a running game and a pass rush. there was no excuse for not being more of a run first team this year. as for the pass rush, we don't have the talent at this point. if there ever is a reasonable pass rush, then i think the cover 2 may work. i don't think any scheme works with our weak ass line. i am willing to be patient for one more year. it will be trent's third year. if he is the guy we hope he is, then this is his year.

have lived here for over three years now. work at a university and do some legal consulting work. bucks aren't much compared to what i would get in the states, but life is a lot easier here. less cops, great food, low taxes, no religious nutters, almost reasonable wife, nice kid, etc... -

6. Bill Bellicheat gets two extra weeks off next year because he can outcoach Jauron from Bermuda - even if he has had a little too much rum to drink That is funny. laughing on a rainy morning in taiwan. -
He has made some bad gameday decisions. I have to believe he has learned from his mistakes. He isn't an idiot. and trust me, i know this is not the strongest argument since the guy has had more than a few nfl games to get this stuff down. still, the bills are young and while you can blame jauron for being conservative at the end of the half against the pats, you can't fault him for duke preston acting like an idiot. People on this board who want to trade peters or fire jauron are swinging blindly in the dark. maybe peters is a malcontent. he is also one of the best LTs I have seen. better than will wolford was in his prime. better than bruce armstrong was when he gave bruce all he could handle. maybe not munoz due to some inconsistency, but i think he gets better. jauron has not been the second coming of shula, but he isn't hank bullough either. i will join his fan club because he is the best option for the bills going into 2009. Patience, grasshoppers, the team will rise.

Bring back Marv Levy as Coach, 3 year deal !!
billsintaiwan replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
a very important thing to remember about marv is that he didn't start to win big time until he relinquished control of the offense to kelly. his real talent was in knowing that he had a talented team and to not stand in its way. he didn't look so hot when todd collins became qb and dan henning ran the offense. -

No doubt -
you're right (mostly). i'm breaking one of my rules this week by betting on the home team. anyway the odds have shifted with my book to buffalo -1. money on the dolphins coming in. unless miami goes nuts with the run, i don't see them winning.
