  1. I was born near NYC, but have loved the Bills with passion since 1975. I've been to the city/games several times and have nothing but good things to say about the people, the food, and the area. I can honestly say the average Joe in the street does not really have anything bad to say about Buffalo...the fact is the weather in Chicago and Boston is just as bad. It is the media that hypes up the jokes because money drives everything in television and Buffalo does not represent high Neilsen ratings to these clowns who call themselves impartial journalists. It is ESPN that is the national joke...that EVERYONE knows!!!!
  2. Forget him...Marv will NEVER draft him. You can mark it down.
  3. uhhh nooo...I actually posted under a different name and have a combined total of 7,883 posts. Even his response to my diatribe was long-winded.
  4. Not tot be mean-spirited because I'm sure PG is a nice person, but a lot of his posts are just long-winded nonsense. If he would encapsulate into maybe 6 or 7 sentences, I might respect the posts more whether i agree or not.
  5. Bills win a Superbowl! That brings more happiness than $10K. $10K doesn't buy much today. $100K and now it is a tough decision because that is 'somewhat' life-changing money.
  6. Yeah, although I agree with the poster above who said it is a two year injury and we should see him out one more year, I think this situation is clearly about his attitude and locker-room lawyering. Marv may think he will hurt the team's chemistry. The money is large, but it may be a smokescreen for what they really want to do...get rid of his tainted attitude. If we can get a fourth or even a fifth, plus we can get another player because of the freed up cash it will be worth it in the eyes of the Bills. So, don't look at releasing him for a low pick as a bad trade if we can grab someone in free agency for the money his release saves us.
  7. The problem with predictions is that people too often rely on last year's teams records. There is no way Indy goes back after losing all those defensive free agents, and the Saints won duly to momentum caused by Katrina with the media using them as a storyline, and the NFL profiting by mandating the refs give them some games. The fact is their defense is a little less than horrible. They still can lose Charles Grant and if so, their defense goes further south (no pun intended) than it already was. I think we need to look at teams that showed progress, momentum, and have a chip on their shoulder. That's why I pick San Diego because they learned something from last year just as the Colts and Steelers the year before had learned from their playoff struggles. Even though NE is much better on paper, they are getting older in some positions, and I think the Bellichick mystique is over. In the NFC, it is a matter of elimination, and I don't expect Chicago to go back. I say with a bit caution Carolina will bounce back from an off year as a lot of good teams have done in the past (remember the '89 Bills). My pick: Carolina over San Diego
  8. I knew this was the "Greatest RBs of the Jim Brown era and beyond" thread. I just knew it. Hey with some of the kids on this board, it's the Barry Sanders era and beyond thread. At least I moved it back 40 years. I couldn't say anything about Motley I have never seen, heard, or read anything about him.
  9. 4.37 is superhuman for a middle linebacker. That surpasses Cornelius Bennett's times. I doubt that number is real.
  10. Who is TMEP? Where is OJ? I don't think one can include pre-Jim Brown era as greatest. They just weren't the physical beasts the players have been since.
  11. This could be exactly what we need to drop down in the 20s and pick up another 2 and 4.
  12. Yes and Gale Sayers was great too.. I missed him on my list. He was a Thurman type player but was smoother and faster. My list (based on dominance in their era--not necessarily stats): Jim Brown (didn't see him play--didn't have to--highlights and popularity say it all) OJ (Just fukin unbelievable--more exciting than any pass play--3rd and 5--give the ball to OJ) Walter Payton (smidge below OJ--fun to watch) Gale Sayers (smooth, finesse, better version of Marshall) Earl Campbell (WOW!! Massive dominating back impossible to tackle on first and second hit--style shortened career) Barry Sanders (too many negative runs hurt Detroit at the wrong times) Eric Dickerson (in his case stats count..but a very bland running style-more like a thoroughbred) Marshall Faulk (better version of Thurman) Bo Jackson (Earl Campbell with OJ speed--would be higher if played longer) Emmitt Smith (low on the list because his play was elevated by massive, great line
  13. Why does the media keep picking on that moment when someone moved his helmet? He didn't forget it!! Let it alone already!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Sometimes it takes a player a few years to develop...maybe this year he busts through.
  15. He's worth more than a 3rd and that won't get him. He's a proven commodity and you can't call anyone a back-up who plays behind LT because everyone in the league would be a bck-up to LT including the KC starter. I give up the 2nd and 6th if necessary. Draft Willis in the first and get your DT and CB depth in the third and you've had a gem of a draft which includes a great back.
  16. Kick a dog and I'll be waiting to kick your asz...mother-
  17. Like San Fran did a few years ago with signing players under the table, I believe Denver is doing the same...I wouldn't put it past that owner. Otherwise, the media-darling Broncos have been provided a different cap level by the league something like $334MM.
  18. Dungy said they made some scheme changes as well..but you're right...Sanders was a big difference. So you see how a solid strong safety can make a diff in the run defense in the cover 2 as opposed to the lineman up front. Interesting. I think Marv might shock us again with that 1st pick only because they "know" something (and more) than we do.
  19. David Pattion: garbage, but something tells me that if hes cut that he'll end up back in a pats uni by the end of the year. Mark it 8. I thought David Patton was a pretty explosive player..didn't he pass, run, and catch a TD all in one game?
  20. For the kids who never seen OJ, putting him any thing below #2 is pure ignorance...and I say that in a nice way. Criminal aside, any one over the age of 42 will agree with me, I'm sure. Payton, Sanders, Dickerson were great...but Brown and OJ were the greatest. They were powerful, can run as fast as anyone (anyody who doubts OJ's speed..he ran a 9.1 100 yard sprint) could cut on the dime, had great balance, and could push a pile as well as anyone. Payton is a smidge behind OJ. Sanders was exciting but he had a lot of negative runs. Then the list tails off. Neither is Emmitt or Dickerson close...they were fast through the hole and strong, but straight line runners. LT is the same type of back. I give Earl Campbell a possible #4 all time back and Thurman is in top 12 to 15 pure running skill, but top 10 all-around. Forget it. Don't even argue if you haven't seen OJ run...he was simply phenomenal.
  21. i dont think it speaks of Ashton's skills if they pick a CB on the first day. That's exactly my point. And we really don't know how good or ready he is until the draft happens. It's all speculation at this point.
  22. I think it will be obvious by how the Bills draft what they think of Ashton. If they think he is ready or is a real player waiting to happen (which none of us knows like the brass does) we will not be drafting a corner early. If they do draft a corner high, then we got some problems for 2007. I think the strategy of the draft will be to tighten the run and at the same time find a pass rusher. Sound simple enough?
  23. Seriously, will there be an issue of JP seeing over the 6'8" Walker if he is at Guard?
