  1. I like this, lay it on me!
  2. Three interceptions for TD's, one called back for a penalty?
  3. The 1987 games against Miami - the comeback in the Orange Bowl and the shut spanking in Buffalo were therapy; you knew it was a new team!!
  4. 1987 was the year I knew we were on track; great story about Tally and Bennett walking off the field after the last game disappointed about not making the playoffs. Tally stated nest year they would be in the playoffs and be competitive for many years to come.
  5. John Elway?
  6. Correct, he broke the record of Tom Janik who picked off Joe Willie in 1968 for a 100 yard return! Tony Greene grabbed one against Miami in 1974 and returned 107 yards but called back for holding! Awesome return though, worth watching if it is on you tube!
  7. Great post, forgot about both, those were rough years!
  8. I can only guess three - Joe Ferguson, Vince Ferragamo, Joe Dufek; maybe Frank Reich?
  9. Little did I know of the many years of Bills agony I would live through for the next twenty - years! I really thought the Chiefs win was pure luck and we would win it all next year! From an AFL perspective, the Bills dominance of the AFL during the 64 - 65 seasons was based on the NFL model, dominant defense and strong running game. The Chiefs truly took the league into the new era, speed (Otis Taylor/Mike Garrett) and the shifting offense of Hank Stram! Think of the legendary battles between the Chiefs and Raiders - long balls and the vertical game and the innovation of the offenses that followed.
  10. Nope, I was in attendance; Kemp came in relief and almost led a comeback. Jimmy Harris had a tough day as did OJ; Enyart caught a TD pass from Kemp; and the Superbowl Jets received a standing O in the Rockpile!
  11. BTW, Ben Gregory was a great FB, big, fast, could block, and catch the ball; another career cut short by knee injury! Had some great runs in the 1968 win against the Jets!
  12. 1968 starting offensive backfield: Dan Darraugh QB; Ben Gregory FB; Max Anderson HB - all rookies 1969 starting offensive backfield: Jim Harris QB; Bill Enyart FB; OJ Simpson HB - all rookies Two years in a row Buffalo goes with all rookie backfields, new players each year!
  13. Bobby Crockett had a pretty good rookie year but suffered serious back injury in a 1967 pre-season game and never recovered. During the 1969 road game against Kansas City he made several clutch receptions while taking some vicious hits from the great KC defense, some captured by NFL films. He was injured again and never returned. Same as Bobby Burnett, rookie of the year in 1966 then suffered season ending injuries in 1967 never to regain form. My greatest memory of Bobby Crockett is in the 1966 Playoff game against the Chiefs, buffalo down 14 - 7 but driving. Jack Kemp throws to Bobby Crockett who appears alone in the end zone, but Johnny Robinson steps in front of him and intercepts returning it 72 yards, KC gets a FG and takes control 17 - 7. Immediately after the interception with Crockett in pursuit, Bobby Bell creams him with a block. I had an end zone seat and first hand view of the action.
  14. Bobby Crockett! The 1968 and 1969 Buffalo Bills started the season openers with very unique offensive backfields, I am pretty sure it is unmatched in NFL history! Can you name it?
  15. Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells faced the same resistance!
  16. My point exactly, I am totally on board with the current overhaul, my posting is directed to those fearful and opposing the overhaul. We are indeed creating a new culture, but the final grade is yet to come! The I guess we are in agreement, if I misunderstood your post my apologies!
  17. My thoughts exactly, I use the 1979 and 1986 seasons to compare, both losing seasons but you could see progress. Insanity is to continue the same after 17 years of failure!
  18. Red Miller? 11 straight then beat the Cowboys at Rich Stadium! Number 27? Jim Dunaway!
  19. Right on and the bottomline; some much needed reality!! Great post!
  20. These posts drive me crazy; this has been a failed organization since 1999. You can rationalize past efforts, laud them, make excuses, whatever, but talent acquired does not mean squat! Do you win and are you still playing in January consistently offers the final grade!
  21. You sound like a well rounded intelligent Bills fan!
