  1. Obviously a complete tight end would be the preference, but finding those on the open market and even in the draft is uncommon. Buffalo would prefer a tight end that’s a strong blocker and can offer some big play ability. Finding it is another thing. “We’ll look,” said Jauron. “We like our young guys. They are fairly well-rounded. I do believe they’ll all be efficient in our passing game, maybe more. But yeah, it’s hard to find a guy. The guys that are great pass catchers are often not strong on the other end.” Ok, I'm trying here. But if it's so impossible to find that complete tight end who can stretch the field and really be effective/dominant in the passing game as well as be an effective/dominant blocker, wtf would you not just get one who can at least stretch the field and be dominant in the passing game?!?! How can you try to get the perfect tight end who barely exists forever and never even take a chance on a tight end more in the mold of a receiver? Robert Royal was supposed to be a dominant blocker right? Did our running game take a quantum leap while he was here? Has any tight end really made a big difference in any team's running game? I doubt it, I mean I could be wrong, but I doubt it. But on the flip side, has a tight end with great pass catching ability made a big differnce to any team's passing game? Yes. Just think of all the tight ends who factor in the passing game - any tight end that doesn't play for buffalo. Why is this a$$ clown Jauron willing to hold out and say "we'll look" for that perfect tight end along with every other team in the NFL and CFL. What is your problem?!? Take a tight end who can help the biggest weakness of our offense - the passing game. Am I completely off base here?
  2. can i please say something? if you have to utter the words 'we miss josh reed' or something like 'josh reed is an integral part of our offense' then you are in some serious trouble. the guy has come a long way since being drafted, but you're supposed to make statements like that about universally accepted 'good' players. the fact that we're talking about missing josh reed clearly points out that we have a talent level standard that just isn't good enough.
  3. "Edge is not a weapon. He's rushed for 277 yards in four games. And after him they have NOTHING. I'd say McFadden is a better back at this point in time, and without question Steven Jackson presents WAY more of a threat." I disagree, Tim Hightower is not NOTHING. He's actually something and has shown an ability to get in the end zone and catch passes out of the backfield so far in limited action. I personally view NOTHING as say a Shaud Williams as your number 2 RB.
  4. Thanks PTR. I just want to give a thanks to all of you guys. It's been a lot of fun reading all your posts with places and suggestions. I am now fully confident that we're going to have a great time up there. Thanks again and if anyone's tailgating before the Raiders game let me know and we'll stop by and have a few beers!
  5. Seriously - thank you! This is awesome. But one question - there seems like a lot of steps in this plan. What time do the bars close? I think we may need to get an early start to hit all these places.
  6. Again - thank you all for the help. Much appreciated. Next step - bars to go out to in Chippewa? Or is there a strip of them closeby?
  7. Cool - thanks for the heads up!
  8. Hey - does anyone know if there is a train or bus that goes from downtown buffalo to the stadium?
  9. Hey - thank you very much! I appreciate the help. Chippewa sounds like the place.
  10. Hi all, A friend and I will be driving up from nyc for the Raiders game. I have a few questions if you guys wouldn't mind. I'm thinking we should stay in or near downtown to go out on saturday night. Does that sound right or is there somewhere else we should go? We're both 28/29 and want to go out partying on sat night and get a flavor for buffalo nightlife and to prove Willis wrong about the women. Any ideas on places/towns/neighborhoods to find a hotel? I see Amherst and Williamsville on hotels.com, but wanted to see what you guys thought. Thanks a lot for your help, it's much appreciated! Kenny GO BILLS!!!
  11. i love these posts. i wish i lived closeby so i could include tailgating in my ritual. but i will be up there week 3 for the raiders game (friend from work somehow likes the raiders so we'll take a lil road trip). anyway, sorry - here is my gameday ritual: - typically wake up fully rested for sunday funday because for the most part i stop going out on saturdays during the season because sunday is usually more fun - bring out the 2 extra tvs to put on the sides of the 54'' (sunday ticket in all it's glory) - put on kevin everett t-shirt - put on posluszny jersey - tournament style rock, paper, scissors my roommates until last man standing - winner gets their team's game on the big screen - 1-4pm: anywhere along the spectrum from ecstatic, happy, mildly impressed, mildly depressed, unhappy, end of 2007 cowboys game feeling - 4-8pm: second half games = drink, eat and hang out - night game: start and fall asleep by halftime
  12. Wait, I want to play. Would you guys tell me what you think of my team (14 teams, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1WR/RB, K, DEF - standard scoring w/6pts per passing td): QB Derek Anderson Matt Schaub RB Clinton Portis Julius Jones Maurice Morris Ladell Betts Tatum Bell Michael Bush WR Reggie Wayne Chad Johnson Chris Chambers Chris Henry Roscoe Parrish TE Tony Scheffler K Adam Vinateiri DEF San Diego I was pissed because Lee Evans was taken the pick before me when I took Chris Chambers, but I guess they're pretty similar in terms of fantasy production. My RB situation is not optimal but I think serviceable.
  13. Really - i thought that Bryan Scott was one of the holdovers from last year that i'm really happy with. he's like a linebacker in a db's body. he's a great hitter and i saw a few plays he was in on in the pitt game. i'd be real shocked if he got cut.
  14. Roethlisberger/Manning/Rivers/any qb from that draft class and then Losman
  15. jabari greer - i think he could really take a huge step forward this year. i know we drafted mckelvin, but greer is a playmaker. mckelvin will need some time, and in that time greer could really continue on his streak of great play from last year and otas. coming back knowing what you can do because you've already done it and being able to build on that is something that you can't underestimate with him. really psyched about poz and ko simpson as my favorite post-injury returning starters. i know a lot of teams feel real good before the season starts and we're young, but this squad could turn the corner to legit like real soon.
  16. sniff sniff, i guess i didn't get one
  17. Holy crap, you just made me spit out my cheerios. well done
  18. fair response. i didn't think about it like that.
  19. really, intersting. i'm curious to see what happens
  20. really, you think he'd drop that low because of this second surgery?
  21. am i the only one who does not want chris brown on this team? the only way this would make me happy would be a 1/2 year deal similar to what we gave thomas - with the caveat that we are able to land bush in the 3rd. i know they wont draft lynch because a lot of fans want lynch and fan favorites just never seem to happen. and that's not to say that i wouldn't be happy passing on lynch and taking willis, okoye, branch, or even a trade-down that nets us posluszny. but if we sign chris brown to a rich multi-year deal and dont target rb early i might cry.
  22. Does this add anything of value to the conversation? There are players that are recognized and that there is a level of 'comfort' with. When you're talking about top lbs or rbs, there usually are a consensus few that are talked about 'over and over'. If it bothers you, maybe you should join a discussion about 3rd or 4th round lb or rb picks
