The dangers of our new normal...
OCinBuffalo replied to Deranged Rhino's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
And all of the the above is of course the other side, or, when the pendulum swings too far the other way. There has to be balance. We can't allow the Federal government to have its hands tied by Google et al, or worse, have Google and Yahoo become data privateers for the Federal government. But, we also can't allow the Federal government to do anything without adult supervision. DC_Tom is right: the very last thing we need is government bureacrats thinking they can build, but more importantly, properly run, what they've seen on a TV crime show. It's a complex problem and there are no easy answers. IF we rely strictly on warrants, then we are turning over National Security policy decisions to the Judiciary. Some judge with a wack-job agenda, who thinks Muslim terrorists are "freedom fighters" and doesn't realize that they are actually "tyranny fighters", can be deadly to all of us. It's staggering idiocy, but, there are still people who think Obama's "engagement" policy is not the laughing stock it has proven to be. The Patriot Act was supposed to be able to strike a balance, and we all know it doesn't. FISA courts aen't the problem, IMHO, and should be retained. But, arbitrary, bulk collection of data without a specific cause shown? That has to go. Some of this makes me feel more optimistic. -
RD 2, Pick 50: DB Ronald Darby, Florida State
OCinBuffalo replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow! Here's this for you: What is wrong with you? This is 2 Bills drive. We always expect hot sex. In a completely unrelated story, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition, but that's who always shows up around here in rounds 1-3. If there ever was a "mandatory list of realities all posters must read and accept before posting" modal box that appeared right after login? The bolded above would be at the top of the list. We cannot win the division, nor can we get a wildcard spot, consistently, without at least splitting with the Patriots(at this time). 5 years from now, who knows? But right now, we can't win if we aren't elite at stopping the pass. Elite means having elite CBs, but just as important: backups that don't become the very hole Brady uses to beat us, if 1 or more of those elite starters go down. Getting our asses kicked 52-crap on Monday night(I was there) should make the mandatory list redundant. However, we still have posters clinging to the notion that somehow, some way, leaving Tom Brady with open receivers is less likely to cause us to lose, than us not running the football, 1985-style. -
Have Billls hurt themself with "hard to make roster" talk?
OCinBuffalo replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
See my sig? Damn it's hard to get people to change their minds. We are having a very difficult time adjusting as a fan base. So difficult, that we have threads like this that defy reason. Its unnatural for many of us to not care about UDFAs and 5th-7th round picks, after all, Stevie Johnson/Kyle Williams miracles is what we've been living on for so long, it's hard to even remember any other way. We've spent so may years hoping and praying for late-round, or UDFA starters, it's weird that they sorta don't matter now. I understand. But I also understand that at some point, we have to move on from thinking Tom Donahoe et al are still in charge around here. That was then. -
Who should they have drafted at pick 50
OCinBuffalo replied to djp14150's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Shhh. You're going to hurt the feelings of WGR and their parrots. They've been carrying the water for the "we gave up a chance to draft a QB in 2015 when we took Watkins" argument for 366 days now, and they are not about to face up to the reality that the ass has fallen completely out of it. This draft is terrible...it's all over but the shouting. -
Who should they have drafted at pick 50
OCinBuffalo replied to djp14150's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand. However, I'm going to go modified Winston Churchil on you: "The BPA strategy is the worst draft strategy, except for all the others that have been tried." -
Glad we don't have a 1st round pick
OCinBuffalo replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hehe... WGR and their parrots are eventually going to have to face the fact that this draft stinks, that the move for Watkins was right on target, and that Whaley owns them. Look I realize that it's difficult for some to change their minds, after we've had so many bad GMs and terrible draft decisions. But, ask yourself to review exactly how Shady McCoy ended up on this team. It didn't start with trading Kiko. No. Review the entire history. Indisputable Bottom Line: Multiple good calls over the course of 3 years is how we got here. This is the history of Whaley as GM. If you are on the wrong side of that history? All that is required: change your mind. -
what is surplus value in capitalism?
OCinBuffalo replied to kelsay2sackseason's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
All you really need to understand is: One day some D-bag, who personally adds no value whatsoever to society, decided to make up a canard called surplus value. In this case said D-bag actually adds negative value, because we've now had mulitple posters expend their value, that could have been used on something else, undoing this crap, and, we have you wasting your time learning something... ...that isn't. -
Al Jazeera - Golly I never saw this coming
OCinBuffalo replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Your problem is simple: you've been conditioned to be incapable of determining what is phobic from what is good product. FOX doesn't operate on the premises that: 1. "We have to protect innocent Muslims from hate crimes that are certain to occur if we report the truth, so, we're going to do X with story Y, even if that defies common sense." 2. "We also have to acknowledge that there is systemic racism in every institution in America, so all stories will be filtered as such". Obviously both premises require an undue distrust and disrespect for the American people. As if we can't hear the truth about a Muslim terrorist without going postal and killing every Muslim we see. Remind me: how many hate crimes have been comitted in this country against Muslims, vs Jews, since 9/11? FOX operate on the premise "We are here to make money. Lots of it. In news, that means repeat customers. Repeat customers requires trusting our hard news operation to tell the story as is, with no alerations". FOX is now the most trusted news organization, and Bill O'Reilly is the most trusted anchor. These are facts. They are not phobics. Or hate-facts. So, as you can see, you're problem is simple: whenever you see untreated FOX news product, you instantly think it's "-phobic" or "racist". But, for the vast majority of the rest of the USA, we are simply aware of the horeshit premises, filters and PC contrortions that are applied to the product of the other news outlets. Thus, their product sucks. Not that FOX's prodcut is especially great(except for 6 pm. Brett Baier is elite). It's just that FOX's product has a better track record and is consistently closer to the mark, especially since they have a history of dragging every last fact out of a story(again, because $). The Duke Lacrosse case, IMHO, was the Gettysburg of this war. Thus, specifically due to a lack of nosensical hindrance, FOX being #1 was always inevitable. If the other outlets were to remove their dumbass premises/filters/PC contortions, they'd have a chance. But, as long as they remain in place, FOX will remain #1, and you will sound like an idiot on this board. -

Oh now this is just hilarious. Let's pretend you are a client, and I'm going to tell you what that means to you: All that is happening here is these big companies want to prevent the government from using the very same strategies, tactics, tools and operations they themselves use. By preventing the government from having carte blanche access to networks and servers, they force the government into becoming their biggest customer, but, a customer who can't decide what he gets to buy, or when, or how. Thus, these companies will decide which data the government has access to, but also, how much the government has to pay them to maintain that access. I'm no big fan of government, and I am "Corporate America", but this is corporate nonsense. And it makes "corporate welfare" look like a PSA. Leftist firms, especially Google, are just as likely to violate your rights as government is. What is the real difference between an NSA Data Warehouse, and a Google Data Warehouse? Nothing. I helped design the first, PASSIVE, spyware architecture. I know damn well what the specs are for these systems. 3 other architects and I wrote them, literally. Finally, Google has already proven itself to be 100% in the tank for Ds, and is using its technical resources and data to actively assist them in winning elections. That's a line that shouldn't have been crossed. Giving $ is one thing. Tracking US citizens for the express purpose of monitoring/gaining their vote is quite another. Where is the oversight on them? What prevents them from leaking search history to damage political opponents? What prevents them from leaking location data for the same reasons? What prevents them from warehousing emails, keystrokes or swipe history, contact info, call history, or even call recordings? Thus, if you understand the processes at work here, and the techincal capabilities: What prevents them from voter intimidation or undue influence? Worst case: what prevents them from weaponizing their analytics and handing them to a Lois Lerner-type? You are right to think we have a privacy problem WRT the NSA, but I maintain it's merely part of a much larger problem WRT government being too large to control and therefore out of control, and their leftist corporate sponsors being completely unnaccountable and out of control. -
Anybody wanna bet against the notion that all of these "protests" aren't large scale distraction operations funded by whatever replaced ACORN....in an effot to save Hillary from the news cycle? They are stupid. Eventually this will come out. Just like everything else has. Every time the left gets into serious trouble they take to the streets. Unfortunately, history shows that every time Ds start running wild in the streets....the Rs win the following POTUS election with ease. The OWS movement: usherd in the 2010 ass-whippings. People don't like chaos and scumbags stealing TVs on live TV. Never have, never will. And, the Ds take the blame. And the worst part: as soon as this dies down, you know somebody like Trey Gowdy is gonna drop another bomb, like the "found" Lois Lerner IRS emails.....and it will be right back to Hillary Scandals.

What in the Sam hell is this assclownery? All this time, and they still think their error lies in "messaging" and "communication", and not in God Damned F'ing data? (How'd you like that, Bible thumpers?) No, clowns, your error lies in being unable to rationally repsond to honest, reasoned, scientific criticism of your theory. This "communication" crap is a cop out. It's also designed to marginalize contrary evidence, because they think it allows them to avoid having to answer for their failed models and predictions. Does anyone here think that my demand for explanation of the now-18 year pause, or ANY evidence of the hastily construed speculations to shore up the AGW theory.....is a result of, or even has the slightest bit to do wtih, them ineffectually communicating their beliefs? Now they are co-opting religion? Religion? Religion! Of all things, F'ing religion. W....T....F? These are the same bags that will attack religion and belief in God every single way possible, on every issue possibe. Unless...if religion can be co-opted to suit their wack-job agenda, apparently. Intellectual honesty. Where the F is it? Even the "luke warmers" like GreggyT have to start asking themselves: "Is there anything these people won't say?" I mean: GreggyT, when is enough enough for you? Do you have a limit or a line, that these people can cross, at which point you will call BS on them? Or any of you that have an inkling that disaster is around the corner: where's your line? What do the Environtologists have to say for you to finally say "alright, hmm, you know, these guys might very well be full of *****"? -
Was the trade for Watkins worth it?
OCinBuffalo replied to Luxy312's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The other indicators: 1. 2 RBs taken in the 1st. As I said in my "worst draft ever thread", mediocrity flattens out the normal positional value curve. Taking a JAG LT then == taking a stud RB...because their value is the same. Might as well go with the skill player, on the chance he becomes an impact player. And speaking of trades, I believe the only trade up was for a RB, no? There's your underscore. 2. The QBs. When there's no real difference between 2 and 32? You might as well take the QBs immediately, because hitting on a QB is so valuable, that you should take every shot you can. Note: Reasonable means staying put at your spot and drafting a QB. Reasonable does not mean: trading up to draft JP Losman. We only need 1 standard: The 2015 draft sucks. Therefore, getting resources in the 2014 draft, in return for resources in the 2015? Easy. The Browns have been raped. I'm going to their board, so I can observe the butthurt, and gain lulz. Perhaps I will even login to one of my troll accounts and start twisting the knife? But...I'm tired...and I literally have months of enjoyment ahead. -
Was the trade for Watkins worth it?
OCinBuffalo replied to Luxy312's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Given the draft that I just watched, tonight, that ended 48 minutes ago? That...abortion? The answer is: of course. That was the worst draft all of us have ever seen, and we know it, unless we are in denial, seriously deluded, or beligerently refusing to accept reality because we are clinging to the anti-Watkins argument we made last year on draft day. How can you come away from that top ten...which was a joke, realize that there really wasn't any difference between pick #2, and pick #32(damn Pats got one of the best players IMO), and tell me that I am supposed to cry about being denied the opportunity to pick from this menagerie of JAGs? Come on. Every pick in the 1st was a F'ing reach. The "highlights" were a joke. Over and over the other guy does nothing/falls down...and that's a "highlight" of the player we are talking about? It's time for the "Watkins trade bad" people to hang it up. Eespecially given that calvalcade of average I just saw. When the #3 overall, LT..."is probably going to move to G in the NFL"? Like I said: time to hang it up, lay it down, move on, do whatever you have to, because it's over. -
Given the options I agree. And I agree that he won't fall. Same with Dawson. Perryman looks to be a thumper, but a 2-down ILB. Of course "they" said the same about Preston Brown and he proved "them" to be idiots. IMHO, much depends on when the standard 2nd round run on O lineman begins. If it's later than normal....we may see some value drop to us. EDIT: looking at the picks again...perhaps the O line run has already begun? Man this is a crappy draft class.

Then this year, is, by defintion different than the 15 years I supposedly missed, isn't it? It has to be: the experts have said 11-5, and 12-4. I don't recall those records being thrown out at any time by anyone over the last 15 years. I DO recall experts saying we'd lose to the Jets 2 times last year, only to have us win by a combined 81-26.* I do recall the last 3 years, when the experts have picked us to lose to Miami every single game, and told us that Tannehill is a better QB than EJ(because he plays while EJ sits)...and instead we've gone 4-2 against them, and thrown Tannehill around the field. The experts said Tannehill was going to crush us: but over the last 3 years? 9 TDs against 24 sacks( ), 7 INTs, and 2 Fumbles. * Prepare to have you mind blown! Is it possible....that this Heath guy feels a little stupid about saying the Jets were going to sweep us, only to have us curb stomp them, twice...including one game in Detroit(which I was at)? Is it therefore possible that THIS year, he's going the other way, because he doesn't want to be so wrong again? OMG, right? Is he overcompensating? Who knows, but as I said, TBD laughed at "Jets Sweep Bills" last year for damn good reasons, and we see 11-5/12-4 for damn good reasons as well.
-
Wait, so now not only do I have to read the minds of the posters praising this guy to determine why, and figure out where/why they stand on EJ, I also have to speak on behalf of every single one of them? WTF? It's like I said: absolute value world at work here. Apparently you can't be somebody who likes Cassle, dislikes EJ, or thinks he isn't ready, and, also thinks the Bills are going 12-4. That's right Nuance Be Damned!

You do realize that if he ends "his drone wars" (For F's sake, not another Dog Whistle), he'll have to revert to Bush's Wars...you know, send Delta, Seals, CIA operatives, etc., in and capture these guys instead of kill them, right? You do realize that if he captures these guys we have to put them somewhere, and that somewhere is GITMO, right? You do realize that Delta, Seals, CIA operatives are the ones sitting in the bushes, right now, pointing the lasers at the targets after they've identified them, right? And, that instead of doing that from at least half a click away, they'd be up close and personal with the enemy, right? We would take casualties, and Obama would have to make speeches in front of coffins at Edwards AFB, right? If you realize all this, then you also realize that calling on Obama to end the thing he has been doing, which isn't nearly as effective as capture/interrogate, precisely because: 1. he ran his mouth into something he cannot now behave his way out of 2. he is too much of a coward to give an order that might get somebody killed, not because he cares about them, but because he's afraid of the damage to his ego 3. he's deathly afraid of doing anything Bush did, no matter how much more sense it makes is patently retarded, right?

Awesome. Just awesome. As the Internet says "Soooo exploitable". Photoshop material if I've ever seen it. Besides the obvious penis, here's my list of things to photoshop in there: 1. A Joe Biden action figure. Let him get a taste of his own medicine for once. 2. A bag of Twizzlers. F you, I like Twizzlers 3. An Obamacare exemption, in the form of a Monopoly get of jail free card 4. Willy Wonka Golden Ticket, that promises Johnny Depp will not be there 5. A copy of this Schweitzer guy's new book on Hillary's corruption EDIT: and of course for the G-rated, not smart enough to get 1-5 option: a pint of milk What else? -
And yet....these highlighted portions are lifted by CNN/MSNBC and often restated verbatim. Not all the time, they usually do some wordsmithing/replace a few synonyms, or try to add enough to make it look like they did the work on "their" story. This is literally why we see an MSNBC host having to apologize every 2 months or so. When they don't do any smithing, and read the highlighted portions directly? Trouble. Remember the "Someone should ***** in Sarah Palin's mouth" fiasco, that cost "guy I don't remember because he's irrelvant" his job? Media Matters == root cause.

The dangers of our new normal...
OCinBuffalo replied to Deranged Rhino's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
See? Gator is at it once again...getting his pudding, without eating his meat. Well, to be fair, I see GreggyT and Chef at least trying to force their meat down his throat. And, if I may, I think the "Congress passes an Amendment killing him" is my fault. He bastardized what I said elsewhere, completely. Also, I said that incorrectly as a troll. We all know states have to ratify an Amendment and Congress doesn't even have to be involved for it to be adopted and sent to the states for ratification, by the state houses themselves. Congress can adopt it, but its not the only way. There's my pudding for gator, once again without forcing him to eat meat. -
I understand. But, the world we currently live in, which values brevity over content....because either people are too stupid to read more than one sentence, or, they've been conditioned by Twitter, or, their attention spans, and perhaps even their neural pathways have been altered, such that they barely have time to attend to content, due to their constant social media maintenance... ...only wants to hear very few words. And, if those words are Uranium, Russians, and Hillary? It really doesn't matter what the media does. I agree the media is good at taking nuanced stories, or stories that require thought and/or attention span, and burying them. However, this story is 3 words. All you need to do is add 4th: terrorism, or perhaps a phrase/headline, "US Uranium has left country due to Clinton deal". And now, even the dopiest of whiners, who can't read anything longer than 3 sentences, still receives the message.
-
One way to go is the obvious violation of the Geneva Convention. IF these people were real soldiers with real officers, and they purposely used enemy POWs as human shields, that would be a war crime. POWs are supposed to be held in clearly denoted camps far away from any military target. Therefore, we could use this to justify, once and for all, not only keeping GITMO open, since we need a place to store illegal combatants, and/or war criminals, as these guys have self-identified themselves to be, but also, that none of these Muslim combatants are entitled to any protections whatsoever. We should treat them like pirates: summary execution, and no rights if captured. The bottom line is we need a place to interrogate them, and we need a place to store them, where they are denied Constitutional protections....that is...unless idiots are included with "we". The single hangup is American citizens, obviously. You don't give up your rights even when you commit treason. I'd like to see an Amendment that allows Congress to divest someone of their citizenship. Then, the POTUS could drone strike them at will. Also, I'd like to see that Amendment expanded to all traitors and those found guilty of sedition. Send the Islamonuts to Gitmo, and send the Communists to Venezuela, never to be heard from again.
-
The difference is that the race card...is a card. It's a canard to be exact. It's no different than "social justice" or whatever other manufactured nonsense. At best, it is political speech. The Constitution is law. Violating the law, and enforcement when it is violated, IS an every time thing. Otherwise what is the point? So, no, one is over-used, cliched rhetoric. The other is the rules of the game. This is like saying "run and stop the run" == 5 yard penalty for offsides. You can hear both many times in one game. The former is due to a clown announcer, without the latter, there is no game. We are right for chiding the announcer for over using that phrase. We are stupid for complaining about the referee merely doing his job. Seriously, how many more times do I have to say "This is PPP, you unmitigated moron!"?

OCinBuffalo replied to Very wide right's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yes, and the same models can't explain why the warming in the nothern hemisphere at this time of year is more mild, while the cooling in the southern hemisphere tends to be more harsh. One thing that is certain, settled, and we don't have time to argue about? Of the 100% of total papers submitted on the subject, 97% of the papers selected by this one dude, because they support his view, show that man, and not the sun, or the angle of the earth's rotation, is to blame. That's called consensus.
