Hello my name is OC's brother he's driving I'm drinking but he can hold his booze just fine! the 16 year old is acting scribe for the day. We will answer all of your questions as practice progresses. I can answer any hardy question as I've gone to Indiana since '05; the kid is a rock and will produce. -
I gotta leave now because of logistics, but I will be at camp today @ 11. If there's anything you want me to focus on post it please. This time I have my 15 year old cousin with me, so I will have a helper, and hopefully that means I will have more detail in real time.

Last Night's Colbert Report with Nas
OCinBuffalo replied to justnzane's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
General propaganda against people in general? I had to read the rest of this thread just to see how in the hell that one was treated, and, to my astonishment, it got by? Who the F are general people and WTF is general propaganda? Hint: propaganda, in order to be effective must be targeted, right? Well now, apparently you haven't been watching MSNBC lately. The funny part about them is that their perception of O'Reilly as = to Hannity is so far off, that they constantly set themselves up to made fools of by O'Reilly. The second thing is that they are so bad at trying to "nail" Fox guys that they are constantly playing a "Tommy Boy" to Fox's "Richard" = Fox: "Were you talking?" MSNBC/CNN/Air America: "Shut up, Richard", and fighting a losing battle they shouldn't be fighting in the first place. I honestly tried to listen to Air America to balance out my radio listening. Al Franken was so bad, not funny, ill-informed and petty, I had to free myself from him permanently. He was bad because, instead of doing his own thing, all he was doing was constantly talking about O'Reilly. On balance, that boils down to openly admitting that O'Reilly is important, and therefore needs to be addressed. They should have been doing what O'Reilly does, nail down an issue that hardly anyone but the extreme left can argue with(or in their case on the extreme right), like Jessica's law, and crush any and all remaining opposition. That alone built O'Reilly's credibility beyond all question. But, instead the far-left, and apparently you, can't stand it when the right, or the center, looks or is "smarter" than them. Instead of dealing with the issues that are important to you, you spend all the time I can spare for you trying to convince me that you're smarter? Talk about insecurity. This is why I think many on the left are acting like phony jackasses right now, not being genuine regarding their stance on issues--> kinda like Obama having 3 different positions on the surge, and I tend to laugh at most of what they say. Question: As a person from "the streets" most of my time growing up, often as the new kid, and mostly living in cities as an adult, I would like to know how you would know whether Nas is telling you the "painful truth" about life on "the streets." Second question: Are you in the habit of taking someone who stands to gain financially from dramatizing himself, his life and his "experience" as credible evidence regarding socio-economic/racial realities? Oh, I forgot, you think Al Gore = climatologist and surely he has no personal financial gains that result from his work, right? You must think the Great Gatsby represents what was happening on Long Island, to everyone, every day, all the time. Nah, Fitzgerald was simply a historian, right? No more dangerous that letting one's ideology serve as a filter that removes all contrary facts/data that disprove the ideology. IF you wan to be taken seriously, you have to acknowledge that Fox does do some good work. Not accepting that reality is denying reality. If they did no good work(or, for DC_TOM, did nothing interesting), then you wouldn't have to ask why people are watching them because nobody would be watching them. The fact is that Fox does hold a significant ratings advantage over their cable competitors for a long time now, and that burns your ass doesn't it? How do you resolve that fact with your views? If you cop out and start calling all Fox viewers idiots, then all you do is expose your own political agenda-driven BS = you don't like it when people don't agree lock-step with you. Whaaaaaa! I don't get my way! If this is all you have then all you are is a whiner. Try using your words to convince others of what you are saying, unless you want us to torment you for whining. Hey, some people are into that kinda stuff. Hysterical. The Justice Friends hatch a daring plan: "Let's use a guy who is trying to make money over controversy, and a website who gets paid by George Soros to spread socialist propaganda to make our point, and then we'll really show those moderates or conservatives that our views should be taken seriously!" Later....back at the Hall of Justice...."Oh no, our plan didn't work and all those idiot American people didn't agree/vote for us again. It's all their fault for being stupid! Or else it's the Wonder Twins' or that damn monkey! Somebody, anybody else's fault but ours!" BS. I have purposely been watching MSNBC and the level of BS on that network is astounding. I have not seen one positive story about the clear and obvious progress that has been made in Iraq. Not one. Instead, the "BIG STORY" is about what a few guys are doing in Afghanistan. Another example: every time CNN talks about Global Warming, they run the "Day After Tomorrow" clips, or they show the aftermath of floods and the polar ice cap melting, over, and over, and over, and over. But yeah, those networks don't have an "agenda". I ask you: FOX started out on the premise that the other news outlets were hopelessly biased. They then proceeded to say that they would put out a better product. Now with their success being what it is, how can you dispute those two claims? Apparently the many more millions that now watch FOX instead of CNN agree with them. Are you saying that all those millions of more viewers they have are racists? -
Who wins the starting Tight End position?
OCinBuffalo replied to Turn Down For Watkins's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great point here. I can't wait until tomorrow's camp because I want to see the motions/shifts again and really zero in on what they are doing. I saw a lot at the afternoon practice Friday, but I was also distracted. On two separate plays I did see Josh Reed in motion and a pass play, but I still think it's too early to be certain that our worst fears are behind us. There is no doubt that Shouman is really making a case for starting. I will focus on him tomorrow as well. -
You are acting like Donahoe is still in charge. He's obviously not. Since the change was made to Marv we have gotten: Poz, Stroud, Edwards, Hardy, Lynch, a much better secondary and O line, and gotten rid of over-paid, under-performing people. There are few players left from the losing teams of the past. This is the first year that the team is 90% Marv players. So let's not act like apples = dump trucks, please. Just like the guy who drafted all of them, Donahoe, who sucked and isn't part of the team anymore. And you know this how? There is no evidence anywhere that backs that statement up. It's ok to have an opinion, but it's also ok for me to call BS when your opinion isn't backed up by a single fact. Get your ass to camp like I did last Friday, or am going to do today(Monday) and then come back and tell me you don't see why we are expecting so much. When the man comes out and goes 8/9 to Lee Evans for 80-100 yds over 2 sets of reps, I think it's safe to say we can expect a lot from him during the season. Again, back up what you are saying with something, anything, or else keep your crying to a minimum please. And there's nothing on record that says he can't either. But, of course, we can't prove a negative now can we? So no matter what, you can say that because no one can prove that he can't. Great But saying this without even watching a single pre-season game is lame. Right and everything you have posted here isn't pure speculation. Buddy, you have to do a lot better than this on this board. Like I said, get your ass to camp/watch a game this year, and then start making definitive statements about who can do what. And if we had a nickel for every time Donahoe did something stupid we'd have the same. No matter how hard you try, you can't treat the last 3 drafts/FA moves the same as the ones during the Donahoe debacle, so deal with it. 2 different organizations and two different coaching staffs. You have to get to 0 before you can start getting to 10 and Donahoe left this team at -20. Paint with the broad brush if you want, but don't expect me to accept your non-factual opinion when I see the exact opposite with my own two eyes.

Perhaps I should add it to my sig. I have been using it to bash on McGahee, any Philly fan I talk to, any Ravens fan I talk to, anybody who was bashing our FO for doing the Spikes and/or Mcbaby deals, ESPN, especially Chris Mortensen, and pretty much everybody else who was being a jerk about what Marv did/set up while he was here, ever since the Stroud trade. I would have taken Poz for McGahee, but we got so much more. It's simple really: McGahee(lazy, out of shape, doesn't know the playbook), Spikes(cut), Holcomb(retired) for(in order) POZ(pro-bowler soon), Stroud(there's hardly any injury doubt left) and getting to draft Edwards in our original draft spot in the third last year, and getting to draft Ellis in our spot this year. Oh yeah, and we got rid of Holcomb for Ah You=so what. Both sucked. Essentially we robbed the Ravens, Eagles and Bears blind, dumped our crap and got pro-bowl talent in return, and Marv and the rest of the FO set the whole thing up. Last week I got to thank my Raven's fan cousin for taking McGahee off our hands. He didn't want him to begin with. The fun today was I got to thank another cousin's husband (eagles fan)for the 5th round pick that sealed Stroud, and got to ask him how Spikes was doing. His only comeback is Briere...which of course still sucks.

Don't forget that we used that extra third to trade up and get POZ.

I'd say a little of both. Clearly they called a majority of plays that had the deep ball option for JP, and he took his shots in the practices I saw. On the other hand, they seem to call more runs when Trent is in there, but he did hit some deeper routes, but often when there was a chance to go deep, he checked down and hit the underneath 7-10 yd route. From what I could hear from the coaching staff, they were pleased with his conservative approach. I got the distinct impression that they wanted him to get the short stuff down first, and then move on to the longer stuff. There's little doubt that right now, JP has the timing of the deep ball down better than Trent. But we are talking about something that is easily corrected and I assume should be able to be worked out over the next week or so, especially with Reed. I want to be clear: arm strength is not the reason Trent missed some of the deep routes. There were many occasions where he zipped a ball out in the flat from a three step drop, or he zipped it to Lee Evans on a deeper than normal out route(I don't know the exact name of those). He simply put too much air under the ball on about 25% of the deep balls he threw. Based on what I saw live at the Ravens game, vs. what I saw on Friday, clearly whatever he did in the off-season has worked because he just looks better, whether its his feet, his throws, his "poise", whatever, he looks better. There is also little doubt that JP can get the job done throwing the ball deep/intermediate routes, and right now he appears to be better at that. On the other hand, there's also little doubt, for me anyway, that Trent has a better command of the offense on the whole than JP. Trent made 1 mistake the entire day on Friday that I saw, other than the too much air thing. He moved well, he was decisive with the ball, and his accuracy was nothing short of impressive. Many many times the D was right there and he had a 2-3 foot window to hit. He hit them every time, except the one, even on timing routes. JP, well, like I said in my report, he looked like JP. I'd say he seemed a little more comfortable out there, but on the whole, there were far too many instances where the ball wasn't delivered where it needed to be, even though he wasn't feeling any pressure from the D line. JP made about 5 clear mistakes...some that would have really hurt, to Trent's one, and I think that's what's got him as our #2 QB. There's no doubt he is serviceable, he just doesn't "look as right" as Edwards does out there.

My first ever training camp report!
OCinBuffalo replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So I got home and crashed yesterday and I just got up. My mom is guilty for tipping off some of my family that I was at camp and of course, not to be outdone as Bills fans, they had to come too. So, I spent the afternoon practice explaining what was going to on to all the kids and their moms, and the rest of the time I spent on trying to get the kids' stuff signed. I managed to get my Poz jersey signed. What a cool guy he is. Anyway, on to what I didn't post yesterday: 1. James hardy is going to be huge for us this year. It seemed no matter what the defensive back did, and there was some excellent coverage on him a few times, he still caught the ball. I did not see him drop one. He truly is "always open". He bends well, like they said, and his arms are long as hell. On many routes the best the d back could do was cover his "center" and/or get on his back but then he'd just reach out, and make the catch anyway. I don't know if I'm making sense but in terms of covering Hardy as an "area", the "area" you have to cover is twice the size of any other WR out there. It's practically impossible to cover 10 sq. ft. all at the same time. They were running him on crossing routes and the only thing the DBs could really do was contain him. And, he was in single coverage a lot with Lee Evans on the other side, after a while it became blatantly clear that this is simply not fair to the poor DB trying to cover him. Of course, unfair is just fine with me I think the only way DBs are going to be able to stop him is if they jump the route and/or try to guess where he will catch it and lunge at the ball. Lunging and guessing wrong = 6 points, especially in a 3 WR set. In fact after a while, the DBs seemed content to simply let him have all of the 7 -10 yard routes, and Trent Edwards was happy to cash those in, more on that later. 2. Marcus Stroud is everything as advertised....and/or Melvin Fowler is going to be a problem again. Stroud was in the backfield on many occasions. Edit: I mean he would have sacked Edwards about 3-4 times by himself. It's kinda hard to tell if some of those were just allowed to happen because they weren't hitting and had no pads, but there is no doubt in my mind that he is very quick. For example, they ran one play behind Brad Butler and it looked like Stroud would be trapped. He was quick enough to where it was 50/50 on whether he could have got Lynch at the line. 3. Lee Evans is worth whatever they end up paying him. But, it's also clear that the defense was respecting the other WRs as well. Lee ran some great routes and made some plays. In fact the only one I didn't see him get was the one I mentioned above = Edwards put too much air under the ball. 4. Trent Edwards performed like we expect, smart, conservative, take what the D gives you, move the chains. He did try to go down the field to Josh Reed right when I first got there in the morning and the timing/air under the ball/Reed wasn't quite right. Reed got a diving hand on it, but IMO, if he had kept running he would have caught it. It looked like he expected it to get there faster. He threw one pick, but that play was screwed up from the get go, his body looked like he wasn't sure what he was doing, his feet were all over the place, and then he threw it and hit(I thought Whitner but gr said) McGee right in the chest. Other than that one play, he looked consistent all day. 5. THIS IS A NEW OFFENSE. There is no doubt about it. On multiple occasions, especially in the afternoon they ran shift after shift. Example: At one point they started in a split backfield, with Reed lined up as a flanker on the right and I think Lynch and Jackson in the backfield, with Lee Evans lined up as a WR on the left and I want to say Shouman as a TE on the left. Then they shifted, Lynch lined up in the slot on the left, Jackson stayed put, and Reed went out in motion on the right. The overload to the left worked as the D tried to adjust and get people over there when they snapped the ball. This left Josh Reed in single coverage to the right, Edwards hits him, 1st down, great play. It was quick, efficient, and the defense's only chance would have been if somebody made a mistake. 6. And, JP looked like JP, he threw some pretty down field passes, but he really stunk when I first got there. He threw a pick on his first play, and right after that one he threw one that bounced of every hand in the D but no int Then, later he looked great. Typical JP outing. 7. Stroud/Poz...the middle is looking much better than what I saw at the Altanta pre-season last year. Stroud is really gonna benefit Poz. On about 1/4 of the run plays, it was one of the two of them that would have stopped it for 1-2 yards. Of course, on the other 3/4 Lynch was being Lynch, and he had some excellent runs to the right side. 8. LT, there was a constantly changing platoon at LT all day. It looked like they were giving everybody a chance there. I might be able to go back on Monday as well, we'll see. -

ok I forgot to update my opera build = I'm stuck with mobile ie = its a giant painin the ass to read the second page for the non-tech folks, that means I might not be able to see every questio....why? because microsoft has conspired with handled companies and we should do our best to free ourselves from them anyway, lee evans caught 5 passes that I saw, all timing routes, all in clear separation. pads or no pads those are 1st downs all day. the coolest part was the d was right there. the slightest mistake = pick. te an le were in sync. if I was brandon I'd bring out the checkbook and sign lee on the field -

the defense did a drill where they all moved to the 'ball' at the same time. that was amazing. it was like watching a swarm of bees, or a school of fish. they all moved at the same time, very quickly. we had a similar drill in lacrosse but this was much much faster thab I have ever seen. why I brought it up is that there is clearly a 'team' running around out there. whitner and poz were moving the '1s'...its hard to describe. I can't wait to see this afternoon -

I bought my POz throwback jersy 4 80 -- good deal I thought. all I had to see from him today was busting up through a hole and 'tackling' lynch one time and I'm totally sold. so now its on to the pittsford grill for a burger and some saphire an tonics...jealous yet ? : woot : (i think I typed that right... ok first session over. I am laughing at th replies because they aren't that far off. all I know is angry city driving so its surprising I didn't hit anybody on the way...throw in the fact that I had a mini tailgate on the way up... ayway so far I'd say that Edwards looks better than I saw at the ravens game. his poise is evident and he really nailed somr throws. the only issue was the one time where he clearly made a mental mistake. he f'ed up physically as well. it was just a bad play over all. but there was only one. the rest was pretty damn tight spirals for 7-15 yards on arope...3-r seconds after the snap jp looks like jp. mostly good, but a few blatant mistakes that would kill us in a game. the upside for jim is that he is getting rid of the ball a lot better than I saw last year. but...he chucked it straight to a defensive back as well. then they went into individual drills POZ IS FAST! SAY IT WITH ME NOW! POZ IS FAST! -

ok that was apparently = a special teams commercial because now they are doing 11 v 11 at midfield. 3dwards and evans are kicking ass right now. 2 passes 2 evans for 15 yds complete. josh reed is the other starting receiver. he had a good route going way down th field but the ball got there a little to late and he jumped ofr it and dropped it. the second team is in...jp looks significantly better....4/5 passes complete 1st team back in next popst -

ok first of all I bs'd my way into parking. OC's mom's baby boy doesn't do shuttle buses. second, they arr running 11 v 11 right now ....not drills. whe I first got here thwy completed a nice pass to hardy. lynch ran 3 plays I a row all would have gone for 5 plus. a few more small completions...then edwards put too much under the ball to evans .the he threw a blatant pick to whitner. jp came in and threw an immediate pick and a bad throw that could have gotten picked in arow.
