The Official Same Day Bills Vs. Broncho's Thread
OCinBuffalo replied to Nanker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, you get to hear it right now! We're DOOOOOMED!!!! How's that "critic of this miserable team" thing working this morning? Feel a little silly? I'm slowly being convinced that most of them use this board as some sort of cathartic device(nicest way I can say it), rather than posting objectively. Therefore, we shouldn't put too much weight on what they say, since they are likely to be proven wrong more often as they are proven right. Is there a finer example than this thread? You mean the heart we "didn't" show while making two big defensive stands in the 4th quarter, or driving the ball down the field for a TD with 2 minutes left on the clock in the first half? This team showed nothing but great heart this game. Especially with nothing really to play for, other than pride, or proving that they do in fact have "heart". It's probably not a good idea for you to use Jay Cutler and "heart" in the same sentence. Not now, not ever. Also, you don't teach "heart" to 21+ year-olds. By that time, they either have it or they don't. Learn a lesson? It's probably not a good idea to make sweeping judgments about a player or a team based on one quarter of football. Now if you had said that the play calling has been questionable to bad all year, I would agree with you. But clearly it was significantly improved, not good yet, this game. Yep. There is nothing wrong with calling something what it is. These guys were way, way, way out of line in this thread, with little to back it up. So either they are, as you said, idiots, or, this adds to my "cathartic device" argument. Exactly. The only reason I responded to this is that perhaps a little public shame will make them rethink their behavior. There's more, and probably worse, examples in this thread, but I didn't want to make a 3 page post. -
What did Obama know, and when did he know it?
OCinBuffalo replied to stuckincincy's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Ahhhh, the big difference rears it's ugly head once again. The DOD actually was forced kicking and screaming to run things like a business all through the late 80's and early 90's, and now they get the job done far and away better than the other departments. Well, I guess it's probably better to say that they massively f things up a lot less often. -

Did you even read my post? Let's try it again: Questioning, even denying, man made global warming until such time that there aren't 10,000 scientists who fervently say its BS not only isn't wrong, its the rational thing to do. I know this is a tough concept for many here to grasp, but it's called being objective. It's called not falling for/actively joining up with whatever buffoonery comes along so that one can appear "committed" and "caring" or to find any excuse to be relevant, or because "your team" says so. And it certainly is NOT anywhere near denying Holocausts, in Germany, or Cambodia, or Viet Nam, or the former USSR for that matter. And again, what does my post have to do with Iraq? Blzurl is talking about looking forward, not back. -

That would piss me off to no end. I admire your patience...or have you just given up on caring? I mean, that far gone? Your status meetings must be like the twilight zone. Then again, maybe the opposite is true: the status meetings and the methodology meetings and the strategy meetings and the architecture meetings and the configuration meetings all run great, but you only get to actually do work about 1.5 hours of real work a week, and I bet those Gantt charts and time sheets are all pris-f'ing-stine. Continuous Improvement indeed. Been doing much planning to plan? -
I am interested to hear only positive things about this team in this thread. Focusing on the negative gets boring after a while, and while I am not discounting some of the duly deserved criticisms I have read, I thought it would be interesting to take an objective(as best as I can) look at 2 of the things I have liked so far: 1. Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson are good now and have the potential to be a great tandem. They both need to continue to improve, but they have definitely gotten noticeably better over the last 2 years. 2. The defense has played much better this year. The stats may not bear this out, but the scores do. There's no doubt this D can get off the field, especially in critical situations, and that is a big change from last year. We have been in almost every game this season into the 4th quarter. I think? there's only been 2 games that weren't winnable right up until the end. I think our PPG is someplace around 23, which ain't bad. And, the big thing is that we are ranked 13th overall. Given the # of times the offense has sputtered, this is fairly impressive. So far we are also 19th against the run, which isn't great, but it beats the hell out of 31st or whatever last year. I think we are short a LB, and a kick-ass DE, and with everybody back next year this D has a chance to be very good. (I wonder how long it will take until somebody is unable to resist saying something bad....)

Again ever heard of ECON 110? How about FIN 215? Capital is nothing compared to revenue. Sure I have to have a decent war chest, but the size of it and how fast I can grow has a lot more to do with how much I sell rather than how much is handed to me by an investor. Besides, do you have any idea the amount of $$$ that was thrown at AMTRAK for Acela? Only to have them deliver it 5 years behind schedule, over-budget by 80-100%, and only recently able to hit the promised performance specs? Where I come from that gets you fired as a project manager. Interestingly all the top guys got raises and bonuses. So, I guess that's "running it like a business"-->well, a wall street business or a auto manufacturer, if you want to use the word "business" loosely. -
Ever hear of ECON 110?

The government always pays payroll taxes? And even when it does, what good is taxing yourself? Gentlemen: growth comes from increased trade not taxes and government spending, just like it comes from new sales and not investment. Increased taxes is a good inflation fighter, but a terrible growth producer. We need growth, not inflation suppression. I fail to see how the government spending more on it's workforce, thereby needing to take in more money in the form of taxes, adds anything to the economy. You are simply moving the problem from one place to another. Net consumer spending will not increase and economies never grow, if you simply take money from one group and give it to another. This has been proven over and over, all over the world. There's a wall in Berlin that is a monument to this foolishness. It takes money to make money. If you tax away all the money I might invest, save or spend, by definition I will have no new money, and therefore have no new money to spend, etc.. Moreover, you take away my choice on what to do with any new money I might make, and when you do that, you also take away my interest. Why should I care if I have no choice? When I have no interest, my productivity declines, and then eventually the shelves in the stores are empty, just like we saw in the late 80's in the whole of Eastern Europe. Stores in West Berlin full of goods, stores 50 yards away in the East, empty. History, gentlemen, learn from it. Edit: You know why Reagan changed from being a Democrat for 30 years to being a Republican? He was told that if he made another movie, he would only end up keeping 10% of his salary. In fact, his accountant told him that he was better off not working. That is how retarded things had become in the 70's. There's no reason to re-learn this lesson.

They way I heard it, he was playing favorites on which prostitution rings were busted and which weren't, protecting the ones he used, going back to his Attorney General days. This is, by definition, corruption, and not merely getting some strange.

What did Obama know, and when did he know it?
OCinBuffalo replied to stuckincincy's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I can't wait to see reasonable Democrats do the exact opposite and show some true and thoughtful leadership that takes the good of the entire country into account, not just their campaign contributors. That would be something. Of course the operative words there are reasonable, and Democrat, not Crazy and Leftist. Any word on when the Race and/or Gay card will be taken out of play? How about the "all rich people didn't earn it" card? Also, what's the timetable for withdrawal of the "America is a bad country because we said so" or the "wealthy (mostly Northeast) liberal guilt, who definitely didn't earn it" mindset? Finally, when can we expect an end to the "there's a consensus on man-made Global warming, although 1000s of scientists fervently disagree(650 just came out and said it again), and anyone who denies it = Holocaust denier" nonsense? You get rid of all the silly things above and you have a decent chance of uniting the country. Because all of the things above have been the "divide-and-conquer" stuff that has been going on for 20 years, and I am sick of it as well. You've got your work cut out for you to be sure. But there's always hope.... -
What did Obama know, and when did he know it?
OCinBuffalo replied to stuckincincy's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That's interesting: since conductors make between $18-35 an hour with all the standard union scale/seniority stuff, benefits etc. (I know because they told me while they were bitching, of all things). Engineers make even more, I know because one dated the girl who lived downstairs from me. He reveled in getting paid so much to do so little. I reveled in the fact that he liked to spend big at the bar. Are you suggesting they take a pay cut? Or that the union wages/seniority are removed in favor of bonuses based on performance? How about the guy who I can only assume is a "manager", would put my train on the wrong track once a month at minimum, leading to the inevitable getting to Trenton, realizing the mistake, and riding backwards to Philly? One time we made it all the way to Newark, and they wouldn't let us take the PATH. That was fun riding all the way back. Nothing like 3 extra hours for exactly zero good reason. Do you think he's going to make a better choice if he get's paid more? I mean, there's essentially two choices, the track on the right or the left. Do you think that adding $5 an hour is going to suddenly make this guy figure out his right from his left? And finally, the one and only time I took AMTRAK longer than NYC to DC, I ended up being 10 hours late. On the way back the train killed a guy, so I guess they get a pass for making me an entire day late. Yeah, a whole day. -
Maybe the media just didnt know
OCinBuffalo replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Three pieces of "common knowledge" that definitely apply to Ted Turner: 1. There is no level an "emotionally challenged"(emotionally weak) man won't stoop to in order to impress a woman, any woman, and the level they have stooped to, or are at, has a direct relationship to how much they end up paying, literally or figuratively, in the end. 2. This is one of many examples throughout history of a woman making a smart man turn dumb. No, it doesn't always happen. Many times just the opposite, um, Ozzy Osborne? It really depends on the woman, now doesn't it? If we are talking Jane Fonda, then yes, she is practically guaranteed to lower anyone's IQ 50 points. This can also work another way: if Abe Lincoln didn't have crazy-ass Mary Todd to come home to, he never would have found every way possible to get away from her. He needed the mother of all excuses, President of the US, to get off the hook. Thank God for us that she was such a nut. 3. Sooner or later, however, all men remember one thing: they are men, and that's right about the time when all hell breaks loose. In Turner's case, his "moment of clarity" came when he was thrown off his own board for biasing CNN so ferociously, thus opening the door for Fox News. When word got out that Turner would literally walk up to anchors on breaks and hand them completely biased statements to read about a particular event, and then howl at them if they didn't, Fox had it's premise = "Fair and Balanced". The rest and the ratings, like it or not, is history. Aside: So yeah, all you Crazy Left people who need to assign blame for everything? Blame Ted Turner for FOX News. It's like Michael Moore campaigning for Nader in 2000, and Nader getting 100k votes in Florida. Hmm. A parallel between stupid choices/actions and stupid ideology? No coincidence. Or, how about that whole "Captain Planet" cartoon? The guy was ruining his business. Ted Turner, the innovator, was destroying his creations beyond all reason. The people who invested in him weren't going to see their money thrown away over the political whims of a crazy person, or worse, his uneducated, burnt out and crazy wife. All this for what? What makes sense? The only thing that does is: trying to impress Jane Fonda. Interesting that once he got rid of "the revolutionary", he suddenly has more success, got reinstated, and is now doing well once again. No coincidence there either. More importantly, the minute he started acting like a man again, instead of a weakling trying to impress a woman, he's so happy with himself that he decided to write a book about it. -
Gooood Question. I wonder if the Democrats in NYC are offended by the fact that for now, Chicago has trumped even their level of corruption and is making all the headlines. How much you wanna bet that wiretaps warrants are being put in front of a federal judge right now? Hell, why not get Elliot Spitzer? I'm sure he's not doing much. But on a serious note, I think Kennedy would be a reasonable choice, provided that you all notice the dumptruck full of salt that I am permanently attaching to this post. Coming form money means that she might actually do something to help Upstate, instead of simply bucking for the Presidency and raising money downstate. I cannot imagine the sausage-making that will go on in this thing. But, then again, perhaps this Chicago mess will get the NYC crowd in line and make them actually do something good without a kickback? Foolish I know, but there's always hope.... There's got to be some sqeaky clean US attorney type that we can all get behind. Oh wait, now we are back to Spitzer again

What did Obama know, and when did he know it?
OCinBuffalo replied to stuckincincy's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yeah silly me, I guess I gave you too much credit back then. I thought all that was just campaign nonsense and would pass away like a bad fart. Little did I know that the campaign would never end....I never in million years expected idiots to turn 9/11 into a campaign issue. Are you saying that you are proud of this? However, the Republicans got themselves caught up the stupidity, and took the initiative on it often, and the country suffered because neither party could stop throwing mud long enough to think things through...hence, Iraq, the loans given to people who couldn't pay, etc. Let's get something straight: there is no such thing as a "right wing quote". There's what a guys says, and what he doesn't f'ing say. I saw that interview with my own two eyes, and he said what he said. If he didn't say that the Obama team was talking with "Mr. Hair Club" then why did he have to come back out and say that he didn't??? A denial for denial's sake? Look you will get no argument from me on any of this. I think the whole thing stinks to high heaven. And, I have personal experience trying design and deploy a so-called "self-regulation" system into 2 companies you know on Wall Street. Too bad when half the traders/upper management then forced us to give them rights to do whatever they wanted, and/or to make their trades not part of my work flow system. A nice waste of 6 months of my life, but they paid well... But, government people are far and away more corrupt and worse, far and away more incompetent. I have those stories too, and they are much worse. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You are talking to a guy that rode Amtrak every day for a year. Every time my train was 45 minutes late again(about 2 times a week), I asked myself: "you know it's not hard, we are doing the same thing we did yesterday, same thing is going to happen tomorrow, going to the same place(Philly to NYC or back) we have been going to for years, and it's on a track where there's only other trains we control, but somehow we find a way to f it up?" Buddy, you almost have to try to f that up, and they find a way to do it at least once a week. AMTRAK is in no way "usable" or "reliable" now, but it beats the hell out of the Holland tunnel and $35 an hour for parking, so, whaddya want? A kick in the nuts or in the head? And every time you talk to AMTRAK people it's always the same thing: the unions are the problem. I don't know. It seems that my 16 cousin could run and outfit whose sole job is to get from the same point a to the same point b, that never change, the same time every day. So I'm not convinced the management of AMTRAK doesn't need a good house cleaning as well. Then it's the whole: we don't pay enough to attract intelligent, competent managers, etc.... In any case, using AMTRAK as an example for why the government should be in charge of things? Laughable. Que? Blago's mistake is asking for money. Period. My buddy and I are going to come over to your house, steal your stuff, and if you don't catch me, that makes me "smart"??? WTF? Or, if I had brought a different buddy instead, he would be okay, but the first guy wouldn't be? because he was more savvy or because he was more intimidating? And if I bring the second guy and don't get caught, then, according to your wingnut logic, I would be less likely to get caught, therefore, I wouldn't be making a mistake of any kind, at all??? You must have completely given yourself over to the buffoonery that says: "it's okay for government people to ass-rape me, they are allowed to, because the government is always right, and more of it as always better". It's this kind of moral relativism that makes me wonder...nah, this kind of post is simply making excuses for a-holes, just because they happen to be on "your team". Balance? Let me make something clear: there is no need for "balance" when we are talking right and wrong. Again, do I need to come over to your house and educate you on the difference? I could use a new TV. I supposed me taking your stuff would definitely "balance" out the good things I do. And of course "balance" is what we need, rather than good. -

OCinBuffalo replied to stuckincincy's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Please refrain from using this lame-ass line the crazy-left people use when referring to 9/11. That was and remains one of the stupidest questions of all time. For Crazy left people: And, no, getting one materials scientist out of 200 to say that it's possible that planes didn't do the job by themselves does not qualify as proof of anything, you f'ing idiots. It was the beginning of the "attack Bush, right, wrong or indifferent, no matter what happens" nonsense that we have been putting up with for the 7 years. -
But here's the thing: I don't know all the channels by heart here yet, so I was flipping through about 2 months ago and suddenly, and unexpectedly, landed on, I believe, this thing's show. Let me tell you: I was visibly and vocally agitated. Like "divert your eyes" agitated. Looking at "it" was so repulsive...I mean....yuuuuuuuuuck! I can't imagine trying to get through an entire show. If I was on that show, there is no doubt that I would be visibly agitated, unless I was allowed to talk to a camera, instead of it. It's like a turd, painted pinker with nail polish, with pubes for hair, and shark's eyes. Like I said, it's perhaps the most revolting thing I have seen on TV. Only the "geniuses" at MSNBC, would put that on TV and expect long term success. So many of their other "plans" have worked so well, feeding it and letting it be on TV is sure to work.
-
I thought your job was to run surveillance on Elliot for the government. Elliot: Don't look behind you! Wait! Now look...see? It's Tom, or Tom's people, the rest of the Wingnuts and Shills.* Edit:* part of my new "fight crazy with crazy" program. Of course now that Obama has been elected I am sure to get it funded. I will just go down to DC, say the words "should", "not fair", "green" and "corporations are bad" about 100 times and I am sure to get my new program funded.
-
But how? If I have these guys constantly holding the rest of the class back? Oh, and how's the talking, not doing, job going Tom? Those of us on the other side of that position are doing quite well on deploying our new MDS and PQRI architectures that do both in real time. I wonder who fixes health care first? But I forgot, you're the smart one...hehehehehe.
-
You probably should have just posted this. This thread is about beating on certain posters who told me I was "delusional" or hopelessly biased for simply stating facts. Sorry, but it's extremely hard to post at two speeds: 1. retard, for the Molsons, Drag Eliot, Lurker, Blurz, etc. and 2. smart, for you, John Adams, KTFBD, Bluefire, etc. at the same time.
-
Just in case you need to be reminded: Acorn thread, where some posters decided to tell me and others that corruption in Chicago Democratic Machine politics was not "common knowledge" or "proven". Well, all of you can blow it out your a__. Once again, as if we needed more examples, we see another Daley clone getting busted for trying to sell a senate seat. Apparently there is wire evidence. Once again, we see just how completely corrupt the Democrats in Chicago are. And finally no one can say that Obama does not come directly from most corrupt, low-life, area of the city, the Southside, in perhaps the most corrupt city in the history of the world. Only Rome itself can compete. So eat up retards, and do yourself a favor and actually do the reading before you post. Might not look so foolish next time. Now whether Obama can deal with this? I don't know. It's a catch .22. If he does the right thing, and supports busting all of these scumbags in earnest, he destroys the very people who got him where he is. If he obfuscates, his biggest weakness(not taking a firm stand on issues = changing his mind every other day) will get even bigger. It's too bad for Obama, really. I am sure that he will gain this an excuse from the media, but people won't forget. After all, Obama '= Clinton. Unless Obama is very careful with this, 2010 could be very painful, because this is the first thing people will see form him as President.
