House Democrats refuse to hear skeptic of Manbearpig

I am getting a little sick of a-holes co-opting the suffix "denier" when talking about anything that is clearly still a matter of opinion. The Holocaust was a fact and we should categorize anybody who denies it as a nut, hence Holocaust-denier. Global WarmingTM is a lame attempt to force a political agenda on Americans based on science that clearly remains unproven. Attempting to attach a similar stigma, in the guise of "Holocaust-denier", to somebody who values reason and common sense over political ideology is bullschit. Lets cut the BS: 1. There are no more new worlds to explore/conquer etc. 2. The borders of the world are what they are 3. Every country has to do the best they can with the land/resources/people they have 4. Due to 1-3, the deck is stacked heavily in the USA's favor, not to mention that we currently(unless the socialists get their way) have a culture that values hard work and individual accomplishment over self-gratification and collective mediocrity. 5. The only way to deal with 4, for the Europeans and the rest of the 1-3 losers, is to make up a new set of rules and tell us that we CAN'T use our resources, both natural and human, to the best of our ability. 5 is the only chance they have left. Otherwise the US will lead the world in everything, permanently, and there will be little that can change that. We will continue to be the best country to live in, and that means we will continue to attract the world's best talent, which means we keep inventing/building/working = we are the best country to live in. Unfortunately they have fooled many idiots in this coutry(and let's face it, aren't these the same people who believe in aliens? scientology? etc.) that their economic attack on the USA's ability to produce is actually some high-minded moral imperative. So what are we to do? I have a simple suggestion: use the same arguments anti-Scientology people use on those retards. Hey Congress: if this is such a serious issue, and you claim to have "scientific evidence" how come you won't allow others to observe/reproduce/study/scrutinize that evidence? Typical Scientologist response: 1. I will attack you personally 2. You don't know what you are talking about 3. We don't need to waste time re-proving something we already know works Sound familiar? -

Levi Jones to be released
OCinBuffalo replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this guy is going to be traded OR released, why wouldn't we wait until he is released? Trading a pick makes no sense to me, and if somebody else is willing to do it, let em. It's not like this guy doesn't have a significant downside. As I said above, I could get on board with an incentive based contract, but no way I give up a pick for him, veteran status aside. -

Oh, on second thought...pass. Why waste good reps in practice on a guy who won't be playing in the game 40% of the time? -

So sign him to an incentive-laden 2 year deal and see what happens, right? -

Does it take 45 minutes to make? -
Compare this year to last year and it's not even close. Last year at this time we were simply happy to think that finally we had 5 real starters(or at least potential) on the O line. This year we are honestly unsure as to who will start and that is a great problem to have. It sounds like we aren't done in the tackle department either, with the signing of Joel Bell. Plus we still have the wire, June 1st cuts/"roster bonus avoidance" cuts, etc.

Anyone listening to Mike and Mike this morning
OCinBuffalo replied to ACor58's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Neither gets away with throwing floaters at our, or the Pats*, or the Jets home fields. Whenever we take away the short passing game(and you need great corners to do that) against Pennington, our LBs suddenly have 2 INTs and our DEs get 5 sacks that game. IF you make either of these guys have to beat you deep, you increase your chances of winning by 50%. -
Does it matter that Wood and Levitre actually played at their projected positions in the All-Star games-->that are specifically set for the purposes of the draft. Does it matter that film is available all over that shows both these guys pulling well, blocking well, etc.? The change from CB to Safety has already been addressed above = so f'ing what? The only valid point is Safety to OLB, but it's not like we don't now have 4 guys competing for that one spot. I agree, kinda stupid article.

This guy has no idea what he is asking for..... -
This hopefully marks the end of Levy's "stop-gap era" that replaced Donahoe's total failure. Other stop-gap players = Price, Royal, A-train, Andre Davis, etc. We also had: no real QB. I have said that we needed to replace each of those guys and we finally have. I think that nobody honestly realizes/remembers just how bad this team was at the end of the 2005 season. We had holes everywhere = the entire O line, the entire secondary(- Clements), most of the D line, WR, TE. The wins we got were due to our LBs, our punter, and a few flashes from our RB. I'll say it again, with that many holes, we had to take the best player available at every pick = the O/D lines weren't the only problem, not even close, and the McCargo trade up was a desperation move. Everything since 2006 was a desperation move. Finally this year we had a chance to draft like a normal team, and the results speak for themselves. Why do you want the guy(s) who did exactly what you wanted them to do fired? Would you rather have Gruden come in here and start schit with Trent Edwards and/or draft/sign 4 QBs? Would you rather have Shanahan come in here and draft under-sized O lineman and no defensive line? You hate drafting CBs, right? Tony Dungy would draft more than DJ. Holmgren will draft Tight Ends, WRs and QBs in the first 2 rounds, you want that? Be careful what you wish for Bill, you just might get it! Word is the Steelers are doing some muttering over that pick as well.

So did we sign this guy or not?

I can see the Harris thing, but I think Nelson is our man, finally. So if that's how it goes, then that's 5 starters in this draft. And Nelson was 2nd round talent on most boards.
-
So you hate the Nelson pick? I don't. We haven't had a real stretch the field(excluding Robert "I cant' get me feet, hands, and head to go in the same direction" Royal)TE since Power Pete. Fine is a fine blocker for 3rd and short, etc. I have said it for YEARS our young QB NEEDS a real TE threat to take away blitzing LBs/Safeties, and the running game benefits for the same reason. If Nelson can come in and start, that makes 5 potential starters. We have 2 good LBs. If Harris can play the weak side, now we have 6 starters that are all an obvious upgrade at their position. Hardly doomed.

While I acknowledge that the CBs at the end was weird to say the least....Objectively: We do play in the same division with Randy Moss, Wes Welker, the wildcat, etc. All of the teams in our division are now clearly "pass first"/wildcat teams, or soon will be. We need people to cover WRs the first 3-4 seconds, you do that with speed and size, and both are un-coachable. It doesn't matter if you get a pass rush or not if a WR is open 2 seconds into the play. If we don't cover the 7 yard slant play, NE will kill us again with it. Same thing if we don't cover Welker, etc. on crossing routs. You can blow that "Rex Ryan wants a run first team" argument right our your ass, because they don't have a "run first" team right now in terms of personnel. Sorry but the RB they drafted does not scare me, and you don't trade up to draft a #5 QB so he can be Trent "hand the ball off/throw 10 times a game in Baltimore" Dilfer. And we are talking about late round picks = almost certain to be cut/play special teams. Btw, good teams put their 6-7 round picks on the practice squad. They don't look for them to start. We got 4 starters yesterday, and likely 2 more today. I'll take my 5-6 starters and who cares about the rest?

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA! Another CB...board meltdown in 5...4...3..

He's currently #7 on Kiper's BPA list.

Drew Willy is on Kiper's BPA at #7. What are the odds that the bills take him at 7?? Just for the marketing play, etc.???

Seahawks remove franchise tag from LB Leroy Hill
OCinBuffalo replied to VOR's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stats here I dunno, this guy can't seem to play a full 16 game season... But he did have a lot of tackes. Edit: Hmmm. Arrested for dope? -
I am a huge Bell fan. I think he will be good, if not great. Something about his whole story and the fact that he has a pro pedigree intrigues me. I just hope he doesn't turn into another Peters attitude-wise if he ends up being good.... Watch the Seattle game again from last year. Chambers gave up a sack on the first drive and was basically lights out after that. They had him in singled up against Kerney(sic.) and he was owning him, especially on the fake FG drive and the instant TD right after the fumble. Kerney got a finger on TE but that was all, TE shrugged him off and hit Royal for the TD. Chambers did enough to win and I'm fine with that. Walker is a good tackle, period. I am comfortable with him playing left tackle. The good news is we have a camp coming up with at least 8 guys who are at least solid at O line. We haven't had that in a long time. Let them compete and take the best 5. I used to be a fan of continuity, but not with guys like Fowler, etc.

McShay just said that we "won" the 1st day of the draft. FWIW.
-
1. Enough of the "trade Roscoe" nonsense. Replace that with "put Roscoe in motion on 1st and 10 and 3rd and 5" and we will all be much happier. 2. Byrd is the all-pac 10 1st team, led the league in picks the last two years...that's a big passing league and and if he's the best at stopping them, then he's definitely worth the pick. 3. All "draft the fat guy" people should be happy. Hopefully they will curb their bitching...somewhat.
