This. I should have gone with Chandler. I wanted to say Chandler, but, I gave in to negativity....thought I was being a "realist". -

Albany Newspaper Trashes Bills Nation

What else? The Albany Assclowns.....they play every day in the Assembly. Sheldon Silver is the Captain of the Team. -
Canadians pay Deloitte 90k a day for advice on how to save money This is expert skill. Apparently not every D&T partner is completely inept. And, I guess they decided to drop the Touche...good...it sounded too much like douche...and I always hated having to say the firm's full name to people. I see PWC got in on the act as well. Silly Canadians, the American firm will muscle in and take 80% of the billable hours anyway, which is how I ended up in Toronto for 9 months.

Obama wants $1.5T in new taxes
OCinBuffalo replied to UConn James's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
There's nothing to "read into". He said bring back the draft plain as day. That is a stupid choice and I stomped on him for it. War taxes are fine with me, the draft is not. The draft is only fine with people who: don't know any better, don't know anything but still think their opinion on the subject is valid who do know better, do know something, but are so f'ing stupid/affected by their hate for the military/insistence that it's just a jobs program, that this is the crap the comes out of their mouth who do know better, do know something, but are simply trying to score political points with idiots who don't know any better. Look there's a reason why for the last 30 years every time some tool brings this up, it ends the same day = somebody on their staff tells them to STFU, quickly. It's the same as "taxing the internet/email", every so often some idiot has a "bright idea", and then has to be slapped back into line, before the news media makes it into a Joe Biden story. -
If you are nuts, then so am I. I have stopped myself from starting a similar thread on this twice now The only difference between this and what I was going to write is: they are not showing any blitzes until NE. The thinking being: first 2 teams are obvious run-first. No need to blitz mediocre QBs. Focus on stopping the run, and, make them beat you with the pass. Sure seemed that's what they had going in the last game...and it almost cost them. We'll see, but I haven't seen much stunting, blitzing, anything from the D...that we did see in the preseason. Both games: It looked like they were just sitting in their spots, keeping them, trying to hold the line of scrimmage, etc., and trying to contain the RBs/TEs. On one play in particular, Merriman had his man beat on a move to the inside(not the edge), but the RB started to release...so he held up an stayed with him for a second, and the QB threw it elsewhere.

Shrinking Middle Class
OCinBuffalo replied to Dave_In_Norfolk's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The reason for this is simple: manufacturing in general, middle management, support services managers and the building trades have either been under assault or have been in direct competition with the government. 1. Unions have abandoned their #1 responsibility: look out for their workers. Instead of thinking long term: making sure the jobs exist first, then negotiating salaries, they have been playing for political power and "fundamental transformation of the country". This is the opposite of what a union is supposed to do. Unions have turned into a volume business, with the bottom feeders, both in terms of bad workers and bad union leadership, dragging down not only the union, but the companies they deal with. The unions already purged the socialists once, looks like they will have to do it again. Hopefully this time, the beatings aren't necessary. 2. IT has removed the need for many middle managers. We don't need a manager who interprets what is happening with paper data and creates reports for the boss, when we have a BI system that does that. There are simply less jobs for corporate information "middle men". The fact is: these people added little value, so, they were easily replaced. Think about the guy in Office Space with "people skills". The myth that "programmers don't do people" died right around the same time DEC VAXes did. But, I don't cry any tears for buggy-whip makers, or the guys who made phone booths, and neither should you. The bottom line is: these middle managers need to learn new tricks before they get canned, because they are responsible for their career paths and taking them seriously. Good companies help their employees with this, but, if you don't work for one, then it's on you. 3. Apparently nobody wants to be a plumber. Those that do are leaving the middle class....and becoming rich, not poor, because the supply of them is declining, and demand is constant. Same thing for welders. Same thing for any skilled trade. The plumbers I spoke with recently...are talking about not being able to find good people who are willing to do the work the job requires, and are paying wages for journeymen that are competitive with junior programmers. The difference is: nobody wants to be an apprentice for 1-1.5 years. Nobody wants to get dirty. Perhaps it's time for the Women's Studies majors to consider doing something that's actually useful to society? Perhaps it's time for people to realize that no, in fact, they aren't going to be a celebrity for a living. -

Best way to ruin the Army? Bring back the draft. We'll be right back to "The Army of the 70s" in no time. A lot of good people devoted their entire lives to bringing our Army back from the brink of complete failure. Do me a favor and don't propose things that would piss all over that legacy and erase their good, hard work. 1 of today's soldiers is worth at least 7 of them from the 70s in terms of combat effectiveness and readiness. So, even if you dishonor them by talking in terms of money, they are way more cost effective. I love uninformed opinions. They are my favorites. -

OCinBuffalo replied to UConn James's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yeah, that's right, there hasn't been any change, in the House, State Houses, and Governors mansions, 2010 wasn't a census year, and all of the above will have 0 effect on redistricting the House for the next 10 years...moron. Yeah, there hasn't been an immediate and consistent check on the people who passed Obamacare. Nah, the Republicans are the same as the Democrats, and they have gone along with everything Obama has wanted...unmitigated moron. How stupid of a post is this? Moron. EDIT: What do you expect? The turds in San Francisco to elect somebody besides Pelosi? Have you been there? She is the perfect representative for them: shameless, clueless, weak. However, that's how the system is supposed to work: she is their representative. -

OCinBuffalo replied to UConn James's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Can you show me a poll, or better, a trend in polls that makes a reasonable case for any of this....after the elections of 2010? (It's so bad...yet they react so poorly, I am losing my pity for them) The American people you claim aren't stupid....are the same American people that voted for The Slaughter of 2010, which will have decade-long ramifications. This happened less than a year ago, so, to which populist message do you refer? I agree with you: it was smart of us to put an immediate check on the Democratic party, as it was fully out of control. This was best demonstrated by them using procedural BS to pass Obamacare. The Democratic party has no leadership, as the supposed "leader of the party" is no leader. It has no discipline, as we see them shooting themselves in the foot right and left, and clinging to stupid ideas/policies/strategies that should have been abandoned long ago. It has no message, because for everything you quote one Democrat saying, I will find you a quote that contradicts it, to include high level administration officials and even Obama himself. They simply don't know WTF they are doing. The above is yet another example of liberal/far-left wishful thinking. Yes, Scooby you go right ahead telling yourself that the middle class still buys Obama's BS. As long as you are in your own little world, telling yourself everything's going to be alright, you don't present a credible threat to yourself or anyone else. Doesn't make you any less nuts, but it doesn't mean we need to lock you up. Perhaps you can hang out on Chippewa and ask for change with the rest of the non-violent lunatics. Change! -
Mark Cuban is as much of a Libertarian as he is an IT professional. Apparently the guy enjoys being a poseur. The guy has supported every left-wing nutjob "project" there is, including a shameful portrayal of our troops, and you want us to support him? Assclowns like Cuban and Buffet are how Obama got elected in the first place. Now, they are doubling down, because their egos won't let them admit they were terribly wrong. Looks like they are going to learn the hard(Ross Perot) way: a billionaire getting involved in politics is more likely to make stupid choices rather than smart ones, because now they are using their emotions, rather than the brains that got them where they are.

Not for going on the field this time around, for all the reasons already stated. Seriously. However, if we win, an encore would be good. IF the fans could all get a "Let's Go Buffalo" going, using bleacher-slapping, in unison....and keep it going...perhaps we could get the players back on the field to take a bow/dance around/whatever? That would be cool, classy, and nobody would get hurt. But, then again, if you pay to go, and you honestly believe that going on the field is in order, then...who the F am I to tell you no?

The Halftime Adjustment Myth
OCinBuffalo replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this is one of a dozen or so things that nobody does anymore, that continue to be talked about, because the TV announcers who insist on talking about them have an antiquated understanding of the game. I can't believe they are still using print outs, instead of IPads, but they are making adjustments on the bench, right after the last series, not waiting until halftime. These are the same TV announcers who say "it's all about the strength of the O line". Really? Then how are we leading the league in rushing with a so-so O line? These are the same people who say "you have to stop the run". Really? Then explain how we are 21st in the league at that...but also 1st in points scored. If the other team's are good at rushing, and hold the ball, we aren't supposed to have it long enough to score that many points, right? That's what's been said or years...so why don't the results follow? As far as sports writers go: often times they are just lazy, and don't have an interest in updating their knowledge, or going back and making sure the conventional wisdom remains conventional...and not outdated. One things is certain: the game has changed dramatically over the last few years. One could point to many valid reasons for this. Therefore, it's time we review and assess whether whatever we think we "know" about football is even close to being accurate. -
There's that word again, it's my favorite. Let me ask you this: if we should have beat these teams, then what is the realistic expectations of our talent level? Or, if we have a bad talent level, then, how can anyone be a team we should beat? And finally: nobody thought the Chiefs and Raiders were as bad as they are saying they are now. This is simply cognitive dissonance. People are criticizing both teams in order to make their invalid criticism of the Bills seem less invalid.

Pass the jobs bill or some kids may get sick
OCinBuffalo replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The trouble is: most E-tools are black, not green. Therefore, it doesn't really fit in with the, Green, Shovel Agenda. Black looks like like coal, too. /crayonz Honestly: forget unicorns and rainbows....all the Republicans need to do is come up with a cartoon character based on a green shovel. Then, copyright it, and "open-source" license it to every candidate nationwide for free, or enough to cover the work, etc. This way, each person can be creative with it/mold it to their needs, but, the central theme remains the same. I am sure the campaign people could run wild with various local projects/wastes of money that failed to generate jobs....or cost $2mil per job, etc., and use Barry(?), The Green Shovel, to illustrate it. This way, every ad hits the local stuff, but always brings it back home to The Great Deliberator as well. Seems like a fairly efficient way to hit both levels at once, while also unifying the message. Hell that lizard works for Giegco, why not a green shovel character for this stuff? -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
OCinBuffalo replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You don't know about the OP's, and some others, "we should only draft O line" crusade. It has been going on since I have been here. Devil is appropriate, because as soon as Bill wakes up today...this post will likely cause at least a little trouble. Now, in the interest of full disclosure: Bill was right, and I as much as anyone was wrong about Whitner, and I said so...2 seasons ago IIRC. -
Uhhh...we lead the league in rushing as of right now.
OCinBuffalo replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can't be marked down for both an excuse AND an explanation. Pick one. Fred Jackson is either good because he is Fred Jackson, or, he is "good" because the Raiders/Chiefs suck. -

OCinBuffalo replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only teams that were close/ahead were the Eagles and Rams. The Eagles came close...but not quite on YPG. Unless I screwed up the YPC somehow...which is entirely possible...who is ahead? EDIT Eagles First Game: 32 att 236 yards... Eagles 2nd Game 30 att 133 yards I get 5.95 so...they are better in YPC by .05 -

Non-answer 1. Non-answer 2. What is the point of posting non-answers? Give specific reasons/ make excuses for why you were wrong/ be accountable for being wrong....or GTFO of my thread. I know. Just saying hi to a respected PPP veteran...and Hollywood writer....in a PPP way. -
No kidding. As of right now, we lead in YPG and YPC. In every way that matters, we are the #1 rushing team in the league. This was done against supposedly superior run defenses mind you. The only way we don't end up with this after tomorrow night is if the Rams run for 240+ yards. Who knows...but for today, we are #1. So, can anyone explain to me, especially those who have been carping about Ralph being cheap, us not getting Altanta's right tackle...who was mediocre tonight, Buddy Nix being asleep at the wheel....how a terrible front office, with a terrible coach, puts together a terrible O line....that leads the league in rushing? I know, I know, it's only week 2. However, if I had told any of you that we would be the #1 rushing team in the league....at ANY point in the season...during the preseason, you'd still be calling me names. Time for some accountability, or, time for some excuses, or, time for some pretty darn good explanations. Carry on.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
OCinBuffalo replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bah! Beat me to it! Yes, if there's anything Bill would love...it's having this post be in any way responsible for drafting a DB in any round higher than the 4th. And, in any event, I think we have our new, young potential corner replacements already starting to make some noticeable plays. Williams, Searcy and Rogers are doing well. McKelvin has 1(one) game to show some improvement, or, perhaps it's time to put Corner out there until Williams is ready to start. IMO, it's just a matter of time, reps and proving they can be consistent. So far, the coaches have had to get on these new guys for being too aggressive(going for picks, intercepting Hail Marys)....instead of for not knowing WTF is going on. Major difference. -
Didn't read the whole thread....but has anybody suggested that the AFC West just plain sucked last year? And in that suckitude, the stats are skewed? Evidence: 1. The Chiefs won the division 2. The Raiders swept the division...but then proceeded to go 2-6 against the NFC West, AFC South? Three decent/good teams they played were the Dolfags, Steelers and the Colts and they got blown out by all three(garbage time scores against the Colts). They blew a 10 point lead against Jacksonville, and lost. Anybody think the Chargers were a good team last year? The Raiders non-division wins were a squeaker over the Rams...with Gradowski starting, and a legit blowout of the Seahawks. Against the worst division in the league, a mediocre division, plus the Steelers and Dolphins...and the best you can do is 2-6? Meanwhile you play in the 2nd worst division in the league? Try playing against our division, try playing our schedule last year. This isn't even close. Now that I think about it....how in the hell weren't the Chiefs 13-3 last year? Oh, that's right, they are an overrated team in a sucky division that played against a weak schedule too. 3. Due to 1-2, yeah, I can see where my running stats would be inflated too. So would my defensive stats. How well did your vaunted running game do against the 49ers? Or even better, the Houston Texans...what a mighty defense that is! A historically terrible defense against which neither Bush or McFadden broke 50 yards rushing? 4. With all of this...add that this team lost it's best offensive player in Zach Miller and best defensive player in Nandi ass...WTF? Bills Fans: how'd you like to have an off-season like that? Perhaps this guy is sincere in his assessment....but, perhaps he's been affected by seeing so many crappy football teams for an entire year. Buddy this year you have to play a Division 1A schedule. No more beating up on Central Western State. Come on back around week 8 and we'll see if you still think your team is a 9-7 team.
