Is this a right-wing board?
OCinBuffalo replied to TheMadCap's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Rewrite this. You have changed tense more times in this sentence than the Jets will change QBs this year. This not spelling/grammar police....it's simply that I have no idea WTF you are trying to say. -
As if we needed more evidence that people like you think it's 1965. Your 2012 approach to jobs: "The mindless manufacturing of widgets are the jobs of the future, as long as they are unionized. This way every one gets a living wage!" Your 2012 approach to entitlements: "Medicare/Medicaid are well conceived programs, that are not only a good idea, they will make society....great!" Your 2012 approach to foreign policy: "All we need to win this war is: put a bunch of intellectuals in a room, and they will tell us what to do. We don't need to listen to soldiers or the CIA, we can't trust them because they betray us, and they don't vote for us" and, now this: "Didn't see this Commentary magazine when I was buying my Saturday Evening Post at the news stand, did I? Boy, that Rockwell guy is a lark!" Somebody needs to remind me how "progressive" = living in the past.

I'm sorry, but aren't these the same guys who actually believe that they need to instigate the apocalypse in order to bring about the coming of the Mahdi?

Is this a right-wing board?
OCinBuffalo replied to TheMadCap's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This board only appears to be conservative to those who haven't been here since 2005 or earlier. When I first arrived, it was quite the opposite. The difference we see now has a LOT less to do with "bullying" or whatever , and a lot more to do the performance of the 2006 Congress, and obviously, Obama. After they had been talking gallons of schit/starting 30 BushBad threads a day, and reveling in the 2006 congress "cure-all"...but, when that didn't happen, doubling down on that delusion with Obama, and when that didn't happen? Well, most of the reasonable liberals, and almost all of the unreasonable liberals, who aren't masochistic, have run from this part of the board faster than a striped ass ape. ( still love that) The unreasonable liberals, who are masochistic....can't stay away. Even though they get pounded over and over. Now...is that our fault? Some of us remember being the 1 or 2 guys in a thread arguing against 10-15 posters. All those posters are gone, because they know they can't sell it. We remain. Also, it's quite possible that since we've been treated to repeating Jimmy Carter history via Nancy Pelosi/Barack Obama ...some of the liberal posters have learned something from this time around. -

Will we run more and pass less than last year?
OCinBuffalo replied to Thurmal34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the beginning of last season....our O line was ripping huge running holes consistently. We can talk about things being set up...to a degree. But go back and watch the games, especially the first 7 games. A lot of those big run plays were about our O lineman finding their guy, owning him both physically and technically, getting off that block and getting a secondary one down the field. That happened over and over. It was less about trickery and more about skill...and in many cases, it was just a plain beat down. But, then the line started getting banged up, and everything got screwed up. With no real depth, it all went to schit. However, if you look at the Denver game, once the "replacement line" had a chance to work together for a few games....they started kicking ass. If the season lasted 26 games....etc. And...yeah, in the 2012 NFL: you don't run to win, you run because you are winning. -
When's the last time #1 Pick was NOT last rookie signed?
OCinBuffalo replied to Ennjay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And he was the 3rd round pick too, right? Makes me think this is more about the format Chixley chooses to use, than the player himself. Looks like: 1. Get all day 3 drafted guys signed first and quickly. 2. Focus on day 1 guy 3. Then do day 2, 2nd round, and then 3rd round Must be some method to this. Perhaps they are looking to delay the 2nd and 3rd rounders until other teams offers in place? I don't know why....but it would be interesting to find out. -
Why we need to occupy Detroit, instead of Baghdad
OCinBuffalo replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Not necessarily. How many "candidates" would oppose a feudal lord back in the day? And, what would happen to them, if they did? If they didn't win, they'd be dead. We can't know who might have run, but would/will never consider it, due to wrath of the Feudal Lords of Detroit. So, just because there are no viable white candidates, and I still haven't bothered to look this up, doesn't mean that there doesn't need to be, or, there is no problem. In fact, a historical pattern of hardly any white primary candidates....would confirm my thesis, not deny it. -
Adam Corolla's view on waterboarding
OCinBuffalo replied to Magox's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Why is it when you say "you see"? I think this Wait so who is responsible for the USSR and China killing millions? The US State Department, ex-Nazi army officers, or the USSR and China? Just because it's a cold war, doesn't make it a not a war. The middle east was cut up by England and France....whom, I notice....are neither the US State Department, or, ex-Nazi army officers. Do you understand how absurd you sound? And, even if you were right....NOBODY GIVES A FLYING F! Even if you were right, what can be done about it now? And, what is going to stop the CIA, not the State Department, from marginalizing or having people killed, for better or worse, when that's what we pay them to do? We pay them to know WTF is happening, on the ground, in real time, and then act accordingly, because somebody MUST. Perhaps if you and Chomsky spent one day in the real world, you'd understand. But, so far, neither of you have ever had to make a command decision, with not enough information, and immediately. When either of you actually have to do that, some day, instead of inaccurately hindsighting the hell out of decisions other, stronger people, have made...you might understand. If Chomsky was who he pretends to be, he'd have a JOB at the US State Department. But, that would require making decisions, being accountable, and competent. There would be no time for F'ing about in colleges trying to build a religious following of idiots. -
Can Someone on the Left Explain
OCinBuffalo replied to Chef Jim's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The question you have to ask yourself: how many others are willing to work as a dish washer to get where they need to go? Per the premise of this thread: you helped yourself with these programs. Chef wants to know about those who won't. I want to know about why we are loaning big money to 32-year old students, who have never worked in their field. I also want to know why we are loaning money to "identity-studies" people who have 0 chance of getting a job anywhere, other than race-hustling, NOW, or another identity-based government/business fleecing organization. Why should we give these people tax money, so that they can spend their lives demanding more tax money? -

Bills' 10 best quarterbacks vs. Miami's 10 best
OCinBuffalo replied to tomdayfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We all "knew" that pound for pound, and on paper, Marino was probably better in terms of pure pocket passing skill. But, there other kinds of pounds. Like the pounding Jim Kelly would give you if you intercepted his pass. Like the pounding that Kelly could take, and that Marino couldn't. The pounding Marino routinely got from the Bills being what turned him into Trent Dilfer in the 4th quarter of playoff games. Sure this is probably right, if we look at it from a Madden score perspective. But that's my issue with Madden. What is the Madden score of Dan Marino, who has been sacked 4 times already, one a crushing hit from both Bruce and Talley, and is playing in 30 mph winds in Buffalo, in the 4th quarter? What is Kelly's under the same set of conditions? What will be Tom Brady's/Tony Romo's madden score....if they have to play our new defense...under the same set of conditions? -
This article is silly. Well, if the goal is "something to write about after the draft and before camp"...then it's a decent idea.

Bills' 10 best quarterbacks vs. Miami's 10 best
OCinBuffalo replied to tomdayfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's why when I heard Colin Cowherd trying to say that Tony Romo is a top 5 QB yesterday, and even an all time great, and using Dan Marino as evidence, I scoffed. As if Eli Manning is anywhere near being Tony Romo's Jim Kelly. Ridiculous. Half the Giant fans wanted Eli gone before last year, and they could make a good case. Kelly, and Bruce Smith, etc. are the ONLY reason Marino didn't go to, or win, SBs. Who is stopping Romo from going to/winning playoff games? Answer: Tony Romo All time Buffalo QBs: I'd move Bledsoe ahead of Flutie. Here's hoping that Fitz ends up #3 on this list by the end of the year. -
I was in a bar(shocking, I know) with a fake ID in Orlando. My parents and younger siblings had decided to go to Disney World that day. The thought it being a "small world after all" was repellent to me. I had no interest in dopey rides, etc. And, there was a Bills playoff game that day. I was stunned that my parents would miss the game, and they even said "well, we just can't go through it again, we are here to see Disney, your siblings, etc." I decided to hit the hotel bar. No one was there, except the bartender...an Oilers fan with an extremely high pitched voice, a brutal southern accent, and a complete idiot, so of course he bought the fake ID. Just listening to him talk schit before the game made me laugh. I hesitantly told him I was a Bills fan. We know happened in the 1st half. It took every last drop of my self control not to squish this guy: "woooo, Andre Reed ain't schit, you yankees just don't know football" So, I just kept on drinking and said little. The cheap draft beers were now going down at an alarming rate. At half time, I'd had it. I was going to go back to the room. I went outside, but then I thought: "F this guy. There's no way I'm gonna leave. I will show him what a real fan is". So, I bet him. $20 if we lose, free bar tab for the rest of the week if we win. Skinny chucklehead took it immediately. After the pick 6 to start the 2nd half: "Easy $20...man you yankees are dumb". But, I reminded him, part of the bet was: he had to keep his mouth shut when the game was on. That alone made the $20 worth it. If the beer was going down fast before....when Reed caught that TD, and you could just tell that something was going to happen even though we were still down by a lot....yeah, I might as well have had a funnel. My parents, having guessed my location correctly, walked into the bar right after the winning field goal, to find me laughing hysterically on the floor, and the bartender, so befuddled that he was "accidentally" breaking glasses, and slamming the register. This just made me laugh even harder. I slurred out "thish is gonna be a fun week, isin it, buddy...hey mom, want a shot? Ish free!" I still laugh thinking about it, lying on the floor, in pure hysterical glory. My parents weren't pleased, not even a little bit. But, once they understood what had happened, they were doing everything they could not to laugh.

Neo-Feudalism? That's Detroit. Order derived from criminal activity and conspiracy, with the poor bearing the brunt. Look: You are talking to guy who had to concede majority ownership of his firm for investment. At one point, I even conceded the leadership. (How can this be, if I'm narcissist?) Yeah...I don't feel oppressed, or alienated. I'll let you know when I do. The problem for you is: you are dabbling around with concepts like valuation, and deploying a card board cut-out version of the concept of a board of directors(or LLC managers in my case), shareholder's , etc.....as though they are fixed, theoretical things. Reality is much different. There is no substitute for talent. Your % of ownership does you little good if I largely refuse to whip out my...ability, your guy only has a little...ability. , and the firm's success is based on having a big...ability, like mine. However, more often than not, a founder needs the investor's guidance, and mercenary corporate officers they impose,(when they actually have any of either ) than the investor needs the founder, in general. A mature founder knows that he can't control all things, and be all things to all people, and that others have skill sets he simply doesn't have. Rather, he knows that being a founder can, in itself, be a veeeery lucrative career. This is a secret that founders like to keep extremely close. Some "founders" aren't that at all. They are simply a guy that grabs somebody else's idea, knows the VC machine well, starts it off just well enough to hand it off, and gets paid off. Done. Now, how is that guy "alienated"? No. The only alienated people are those who buy the IPO, only to find out that the business model is smoke and mirrors-->Blockbuster video. Edit: the VC/investment bank takes all the blame...and the "founder" gets off scot free, anonymous, and can always blame the VC for screwing up his "idea" if he isn't, and is therefore free to "found" again. But don't feel bad, I was once like you. IIRC when I was intern I came up with a requirements/project plan that went something like: 1. Client needs email, groupware and file serving 2. Deploy Unix Server 3. ???? 3. Profit because all were theoretical concept to me. I had no experience actually gathering requirements, or deploying said server, or designing something that meets those requirements with said server. (Edit: Now that I think about it...this was basically the methodology at Deloitte Doubt it's changed) You'll learn. But, not if you insist on moving theoretical boxes around on a Power Point. -

What the hell do you want? If Noam Chomsky says it, it must be so. Jesus...what's wrong with you? Like we don't teach our kids that the post war world was run by ex-Nazi army officers, and that the State Department is capable of keeping that secret. Oh...wait....forgot about what passes for college "education" today, didn't I? ------------------------------------------------------------------- Of course, just because Chomsky said that, and publicly put those words to paper and distributed them...doesn't mean we should be extremely skeptical of whatever other thoughts he has on foreign policy. The rest of what he says has been confirmed by....... (Marcell Clown, please finish that sentence) -
So, when I said, poor political environment...uh...yeah. Then, when I said, look at the fan problems with crime...you said the above, not me....uh...yeah. How the F is that not = to me saying "LA is an inferior sports town that is bandwagon at best, and too self-involved to associate themselves with anything if it isn't always winning"? Dude, go back and re-read what I wrote, and then what you wrote....and tell me how we aren't saying the same thing. You said there wasn't a whiff of truth...and then proceeded to confirm everything I said, in some cases word for word.

Well, we'll see, won't we? Because if they do: "Marin County. You will never find a more wretched hive of liberal scum and hypocrisy." Will then also be true. Marin is where the Grateful Dead live, along with a ton of other jam band...luminaries? Wonder if they will still be signing: "And the rich man in his summer home, Singing "Just leave well enough alone" But his pants are down, his cover's blown" (Link here) if this happens? Bucknell, then, big, goofy nippled boobs. Which is ironic, because I suddenly recall that the one girl from high school who did go to your school had mosquito bites. That's the choice...Bucknell, or big boobs. Ahhhh....hysterical. It's almost like if your name was Benoit. But instead of me saying balls all the time(Archer), I am thinking boobs. -

But, the day of, and with already having full rides to better schools: an opportunity for hilarity arose. I figured my time was better spent on banging this color guard girl with big boobs. Turns out I was right. I played with those things for a solid hour Gotta love the easy choices that turn out way better than expected. Last time I saw her she just got married. Too bad. But, the upside is: Every time you post, I think of your school, and then her boobs. So, by all means, don't stop posting. Now, do you really want to talk about organs? With me? Double -
Why we need to occupy Detroit, instead of Baghdad
OCinBuffalo replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yeah, you weren't implying anything at all. I will as soon as you promise to keep it accurate. Who was that directed towards, you, or JA? Christ, I am beset by unobservant lawyers recently. In a Democratic dominated town that has been such for 50 years? With a bunch of "trustees" who say things like "it was an opportunity for a minority firm to grow"? To which choices do you refer? Where's the choice in people serving their lord well, in the hopes that one day they will get a chance at a fiefdom....provided that the king can keep securing Federal aid money? You seriously want me to go do a bunch of research and determine who the primary candidates were for every single one of these clowns, and the mayor, when we already know the answer? "Detroit needs a white mayor". Come now. This is a Feudal system, and it's failures are empirically identical to the failures of Feudal systems. Sooner or later, incompetency and thievery rules, and the people suffer immensely. How many businesses/people have left Detroit and why have they left? I'll make you a deal: you agree to do that research, when you already know the answer, and then I'll agree to look up the history of how many white primary candidates have been given a real shot to get elected, since we know 0 Republicans have. We don't need to do research to know that it's failing, or to know why. 50 years, or at least, 30 years of power being reserved for a protected "nobility" based on "blood", and, wealth being accumulated through criminal behavior? Obvious Feudalism speaks for itself. I'm merely suggesting that we liberate our fellow Americans in Detroit, from the Feudal lords that have imposed their system on them. Seems like a worthy cause to me. -

Now, JA? Kidding aside, THIS is an example of real bigotry. Notice the well placed use of an epithet, coupled with a largely accepted terms, in an effort to present all as acceptable and reasonable discourse. Notice the attachment of all these to the black president, so that the guilt by association is set firmly in place? Finely tailored, fundamentally sound bigotry. Now run along, and don't come back until you can consistently demonstrate that you can tell the difference. No, Rasmussen leans accurately in it's polling. 2008 is the prime example of that. Just because you don't like the outcome, doesn't mean the methodology Rasmussen uses isn't sound. Jesus. So did you/do you hang out at the Pink, in Allentown? Yes, we know. I wonder what the excuse will be this time...."Gallup has been infiltrated by Fox News". By far the most racist town, and Democratic town, I have lived in, and afterwords, worked in consistently since: Pittsburgh, PA. That the Rooney Rule comes from Pittsburgh is no accident. It's an attempt to counter the prevailing attitude in that city, and entire region. If you want a shock and to see what the antebellum south looked like....drive out past the Airport towards Aliquippa. All of a sudden you will be in "black town", complete with the county sheriff patrolling the "border" and asking you to state your business. It was surreal, and it wasn't even close to an urban area. We got there by doing what I enjoy: taking a random drive to find things like cool dive bars and restaurants. I took a "wrong" turn...and was promptly told to turn around and that "you ain't gonna find nothing but !@#$s here, buddy".
