One Hundred detainees on hunger strike at Gitmo
OCinBuffalo replied to Keukasmallies's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Leave it to ...lybob Is that you, Fox Butterfield? (Reference: http://online.wsj.co...4228137272.html) Right, so according to dopey WP reporter the fear is the blame...and not the terror incident itself? Or, is he right on, and the Administration might actually be thinking about the blame...rather than some more dead Americans? I may hate this administration's ability to get things done properly, but I'm not prepared to say that they are more worried about blame than people dying. IF that's not what he's saying or if that's just stupid: then why print it at all? Where the hell is this guy's editor? If he hoped to avoid it...then why the F did he do it? What exactly did he "hope to avoid"? Either he didn't understand the situation and signing the order was an act of ignorance, stupidity, or both, or, he did, and he didn't care, because he wanted to score points with the left. Either way: he could not possibly have "hoped to avoid" something he either didn't know, or, knew so well that he thought he could use it. So...I guess my first impression was correct. The Washington Post has a new Fox Butterfield. Edit: If I don't see comments to the above effect soon...I'm signing up. This level of stupidity cannot go unchecked. -
Right, and extending the batshit logic here to it's fullest, Global Warming has a much larger chance of turning women into whores than does: 1. Obamacare ensuring that both entry level and full time jobs are decreased for everybody, including women 2. Stimulus packages that are spent on keeping overextended local/state governments afloat, and not on job training or anything that even remotely resembles a real Keynesian multiplier (Still can't get over the fact that the ultimate Keynsians there are, couldn't figure out how to organize and deploy their own methodology properly) 3. Making women dependent on government, rather than contributing to society...or dare I say: Independent? (Have the feminists have forced us away from a paternalistic society...and into a paternalistic government? How is that, by any definition, better?) Yes, the real culprit is Global Warming...and not the obvious idiocy of 1-3. Yes, "The life of Julia" is much less likely to have Julia swinging on a pole, than Global Warming is.

One Hundred detainees on hunger strike at Gitmo
OCinBuffalo replied to Keukasmallies's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
What else could they do? We just had another terror attack, which knocks back the whole "GITMO Bad" issue to 2002. They had to do something to try and get themselves back into the headlines, because they were staring at being forgetten, forever. And what does that tell you? A political move, designed to sway public opinion, for political gain, and to avert political oblivion? It should tell you: these guy's motives are political after all, aren't they? Not religious, not because they come from poverty, not because of any other lameass excuse or nonsense far-left meme. No. Their goal is to "take over the world" They aren't "freedom fighters". They are "tyranny fighters". They failed, and they are lucky we haven't hanged them all. Keep in mind, I don't want that to happen. Much better for them to rot in GITMO forever. The good news? The "Close GITMO immediately" and the "use GITMO for political gain" people to have to eat this schit sandwich every single day for the rest of their lives. There will be no hunger strike for them. That is truly hilarious. They get a seat at the Schit Sandwich Diner...right next to "The Surge Won't Work" people. -
Question for posters in this thread, or anybody else: Do you start Kolb against the Pats (1st game of the season) no matter what? My answer: Yes. That's too much for a rookie. I know that sounds weak. But, I am thinking along the lines of discretion vs. valor here. Even if EJM is the far and away better player, I still think you start Kolb. The reason: I saw firsthand how the Eagles handled McNabb as a rookie. It was brilliant. And, so far, that script has been followed to the letter. Just change the names. Replace signing veteran FA Pederson, with Kolb, and drafting rookie McNabb with EJM...and there it is. Pederson started and did Ok, but the plan all along was for him to be the foil for the fans. When McNabb did start later in the season, it gave the fans the impression that they forced it to happen. BS. (Of course, given the mentality of the average Eagle fan, this wasn't hard to achieve.) This happened, after it was the fans themselves that booed drafting McNabb in the first place. This completely absolved the coaching staff and the FO, and both QBs...and in the end, the Eagle fans cancelled their idiot selves out. I am not saying that Bills fans are anywhere near the level of Eagles fans when in comes to general douchebaggery. Their idiocy made this subterfuge a requirement, and not just a good idea. I am saying: For us, it's a good idea. The effect will be the same. The last thing anyone needs that Sunday night is for the takeaway to be "It was EJ's fault we lost".

Buddy Nix on WGR this morning
OCinBuffalo replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watching only the game tape...without the context...is how you conclude that EJ can only read half the field, (ahem) Todd McShay, and completely whiff. Either that is true, or, EJ was really good at BSing Buddy, etc. But, that doesn't explain why the coaches would BS too. If they burned Buddy, the word would get out quick, FSU would see it's draft reputation suffer, and lose recruits as a result. I don't see any reason why the FSU coaches would overstate a player's ability this year, and screw all their kids over in the future. Unless there's a sort of groupthink in effect...but that seems unlikely as well. I remain convinced that the only media analyst who tries very hard to do both film and context, consistently, is Ron Jaworski. Jaws said somebody would try to trade back up into the 1st to get Manuel. -
Buddy Nix: "We were 1 of 14 Teams that tried to sign him" (Da'Rick Rogers). We did. As I said in the Buddy WGR thread...a multitude of teams and media can blow this out their ass today. How much do you want to bet that the Jets or Pats or both were part of the 13 teams? But yeah, ESPN, tell us how our team is irrelevant some more...right after we sign Mario Williams and now, this guy. http://postimg.org/image/ximkc0n9j/ Why did he pick us? Buddy: "He enjoyed his visit. Our guys did a good job when he was in here....We tried to make him feel good about his visit. That's not hard to do here. Russ and Jim, JO, (Jim Overdorf) had a good relationship with his agent. Robert's(Woods) got the same agent and Goodwin's got the same agent. Those guys worked out together (leading up to the draft). I think he felt familiar with it, and this is where he chose to come". (The above quote has been de-"good ole boy"ed. ) Apparently, we owe Russ/Jim Overdorf at least some credit. They take a lot of schit around here. I have given them plenty. However, fair is fair. We have no reason to think Buddy is lying, and if he gives them credit, so do I.

Buddy said: 14 Teams tried to sign Da' Rick Rogers. We did. Quite literally: blow that out your ass ESPN. While we are at it, anybody think the Patriots and Jets weren't 2 of those teams? So, they can blow it out their ass as well. -
"You Threw One By Me Kid. Savor The Flavor Becuase It Sure As Hell Won't Happen Again." I'm definitely off today. As each hour goes by, this WR, and draft in general, thing just gets better. I've had to stop myself from drawing up plays in my head a few times today, because... I don't really know how to draw up plays. I am annoying myself with giddiness. As far as the rest: yeah, how do you feel if you're Brandon Kaufman or Kevin Norrell? It's going to be a crazy camp when it comes to WR. Damn. Second time I've done that today. I sent a text message about "brooks" and confused a whole bunch of people. I don't know what that's about. I know its Woods, I know that's what I think when I go to type it, but for some reason it comes out Brooks. Just give me a day to be silly. I will get over it and be back to form tomorrow.
-
Some of them may be "raw"... However, both Rogers and Brooks especially are considered "the most NFL ready" WRs in the class. Kiko is a consensus "immediate impact" player. If we did get some high ceiling, developmental players, we certainly balanced them out with "out of the box" guys. For me Nelson is simple. It all came down to the doc, Doc. The doc said: "he's never going to be the same after the knee." The Bills said "this is a business". David said "I get it, I'm upset, but I am also a class act, let's see about the Browns." It sucks, because I don't think there is a better character/leader type guy in the league than David Nelson. I will never forget him catching that ball down the sidelines against the Pats, losing his helmet, barking at the fans, firing them up...and sparking the comeback to win that game. But, we couldn't have guys who have lost a step on this team, when: we had a now obvious plan to add a literal slew of WR talent via the draft and FA. First, did anybody hear that one dude say, when asked which CB they want to line up against, say: "Gilmore"? Gilmore is going to be on fire this year, in this system, IMHO, because he won't have to be covering people for 5 seconds a play, and more bad balls will be coming out. Some can say Rogers didn't come here only because of Brooks. I can say: if that isn't the biggest reason, it has to be in the top 4. I mean: he literally said "I have to hang out with the right people" and then looked over at Brooks. 2. He also probably came here because of Steve, so he could learn. Steve has a great rep with the rest of the league. 3. And, because there are new QBs here, so he gets to start with a clean slate. (In fact this may be the single biggest reason. If there isn't any existing WR/QB relationship, then everybody is = on day 1) 4. And of course, with a new coaching staff, everybody is learning the new system, so that evens things out a bit and may make it easier for an UDFA to make the team.

You are part of a battle to the death...that says that only poncy little grad students and coffee house turds, trying to look erudite, wear scarves*. That's what I say. That's whay you say. The enemy says....well...who cares? They can say whatever they want, when they get done talking, the above will still be true. *Again, with the caveat that wool/knit ones in 30 degrees or less is about practicality, and therefore, not the same thing. You might also add scarves with an overcoat is fine, but scarves by themselves or with a blazer is ponce.

Rd 7, Pick #222: TE Chris Gragg - Arkansas
OCinBuffalo replied to Sisyphean Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On that film, on the 3 and 10...this guy had the key block that sprung the RB for 12. Nice sneak route. I don't know. He appears to be an "adequate" blocker. It's not for a lack of effort, but I can see how it's not his strength. His strength is getting 5 yds past the line and turning on the jets. The trouble is: the fist 5 yards. But who knows? For a 7th? I am talking about things I expect to see out of a 3rd/4th. It's hard to have a problem with this pick. -
We did not address the TE position
OCinBuffalo replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
hehehe... New Rule: "Be careful what you post. Because this FO is always looking to make you wrong." The guy we got was rated 3-4th round? I'll take that at 7, injury, non-blocking aside. Or...because we have done such a good job on the lines over the last 3 years...we have the luxury of taking weapon after weapon and big hitters at S and LB. I mean, I agree with your analysis, the draft was thick with lineman. But...is the 5th LT on the chart...really better than Cordy Glenn, or, Erik Pears for that matter? Of course the weapons have to pan out. But, with this D coach, and given what we know about the last one, I'd say we are just fine on the D side of the lines. I also think we can find a LG out of the 6 possibles we have on the team, right now. My hope is: the team is in position next year to take the BPAs and if we can find good lineman, we take them. -
That's.... why I said "most"? How many endorsement deals can Geno Smith expect? In the Tri-State area? I get what you're saying, but, given what we've seen so far from Smith? Did you expect him to go out and buy himself 2 suits, just in case? Like I said: I hope he does just well enough to get the Jets hopes up, and then we dash them.
-
Yes, but the more important question? Do you own any scarves? The second more important questions? Are they made of anything besides wool? Do you wear them in 30+ degree weather?
-
What would be worse, wearing a sweater, or showing up in the suit he had on yesterday? Most college kids only have one suit. And asking them to show up a second day exposes that. Sure, the agents usually loan them $, which is paid back when they sign. However, I believe there are rules/laws about that, and, most of these guys get just enough $ to survive, and buy: 1 good suit. Just adding perspective. As far as Geno vs. EJ? I don't know? I can't say I would hate it if this turned into a very entertaining rivalry, like Kelly Marino. I'd rather Geno was a complete bust, but can anyone deny that it would be fun? It's one hell of a story, for years, if it turns out that way. And, wouldn't it be better for us...if Geno is good, but, we usually beat him? I mean from a pure hazing perspective, wouldn't it be better to get the Jet fans' hopes up, only to dash them?

Rd 6, Pick #177: K Dustin Hopkins - FSU
OCinBuffalo replied to Boludo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Piss and moan all you want, but he was BPA with a 69.5 draft grade, when he was drafted. In fact, as I write, he is the highest rated player drafted this round. -
Rd 1, Pick #16: QB EJ Manuel - Florida St.

I wish there was a "mandatory reading" page that popped up right after login here. Like a software license, you can't click "continue" until you at least scroll throught the whole thing. This would be #1 on that list. -

Wow. That is perhaps the biggest "I'm mad that I got trolled, bro " reaction I've ever seen here. The Spags must go on. -
Rd 2, Pick #46: LB Kiko Alonso - Oregon
OCinBuffalo replied to bills_fan_in_raleigh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So...what did you do? Yes, not retarded so much...I would have gone for stoned. Yep. The best LBs in the game have all been certifiable, or damn close to it. I don't want a nice LB. I want a nut. In fairness, I can only imagine looking through the list of "news" in North Dakota, on my first day on the job, and thinking "Oh...Christ...well, I have to start somewhere I guess". Still funny though. ...... Also, I picked up this little tidbit from the CBS "player page" for Alonso Link: http://www.cbssports...825/kiko-alonso Compares To: Daryl Washington, ILB, Arizona Cardinals -- Like his predecessor with the Cardinals, Karlos Dansby, Washington's blend of instincts, athleticism and physicality has quickly turned him into a Pro Bowler. The frenetic Alonso has a similar upside but must show the same level of commitment on and off the field that Dansby and Washington have undertaken to enjoy this kind of success. Does that mean we won't be calling Dansby back? Also, I love the word "frenetic" being attached to a LB. Also, Also, "The frenetic Alonso" sounds like a character from the Princess Bride, or a Monty Python skit. -
Bills Jets Rivalry Heats Up
OCinBuffalo replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh whatever, pal. You think Geno is gonna be better than EJM? That is some kinda joke. Trolls like you should know better. Trolls that live under bridges, with no bros, and no hot chicks, and crappy cars. You can't even go to AC, because you ain't classy enough. We hosed the Jets. We took their QB, and kept them from taking their WR. ALL WIN, NO FAIL! -
The Offensive Line Is Still Terrible
OCinBuffalo replied to KitchenerKaizer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Long, long ago, I accepted the fact that I will never, truly, understand offensive line. That's what I mean when i said "set standard". We can't have anybody that is slow. My thought is that they need to be quick enough to meet the standard, but from there, size and strength should be the priority. -
Hey! Dammit! Don't tell posters that! What are trying to do? Ruin everything? All my hard work? I hope nobody from PPP sees this, then it will all be for naught.
