  1. In possibly the worst example of painting a picture that I heard, back in 1986, the San Francisco Giants hired a broadcaster named Phil Stone to their radio team. Phil had previously done just TV broadcasting. Here was his radio call: “Here’s the pitch, centerfielder’s under it, inning over.”
  2. Did anybody listen to Van’s radio broadcast of any of the Bills’ Super Bowls?
  3. Sorry, I have no time for the opinion of an ex-QB who couldn’t even keep track of the back of the end zone.
  4. I think you may be right. The one thing he needs to improve on is game management. That can make the difference in close games and big games. He needs a better system for replays instead of what seems to be ‘gut feel”. He also needs better clock management. Working in concert with Daboll and Josh, hopefully it gets to the point where Josh is a coach on the field and takes care of it, ala Peyton Manning.
  5. Cole Beasley. Arrival of Diggs will take away a lot of opportunities and he changed his number from ‘10’ to ‘11’.
  6. Going for the 4th and 15 would depend on time remaining. If a team still has 3 timeouts to stop the clock and there is enough time left to get the ball back, I wouldn’t risk leaving the opponent at your 25. If it’s a last hurrah, definitely take the ball.
  7. Sounds like you guys need Greg Papa to return to his Buffalo roots..
  8. I just rewatched that game in a great abbreviated 20 minute video. Romes drops what could’ve been a clinching INT and then Simpson gets beat and barely misses a shoe-string tackle. Mike-Mayer sucked. I’d forgotten what an arm Ferguson had. Unfortunately his problem was between his ears with ill advised throws resulting in INTs and then the head down aw shucks reaction to them. I first inadvertently clicked on the 1981 regular season game between the 2 teams. That was a great game and Fergy was really zipping the ball that day.
  9. I believe his first name is Brent. Also, don’t forget the great Jimmy the Greek.
  10. I thought that was legal in Texas, as well as the firearm? DWI is a different story.
  11. Evans is being overrated. His production was mainly from JP Losman bombs. He didn’t do much with short and intermediate passes. I would have to put Bob Chandler as #3. He was amazing.
  12. He would’ve only regretted it if it him him more in the pocketbook, even though he claimed to have not spent any salary.
  13. True, Bruce had some incidents with the one I remember most being when he was drunk and fell asleep behind the wheel at a traffic light.
  14. So, do the flat earth people just use a paper map?
  15. Omaha! I grew to hate that show. Even without cable, my Dad would find it on multiple channels.
  16. Ahem. This regime brought in Benjamin, Tolbert, Gore, etc and tried to sign Greg Olsen. Yes, most were ex-Carolina players but they were all guys with their best days behind them. Benjamin was the only knucklehead though.
  17. Caught the last few minutes and it was again difficult to watch. The clock operator kept letting it run after incompletions. Then, how the refs didn’t see the face mask infraction on Allen’s 4th down run still amazes me. Didn’t really matter as Allen got the first down followed by a Beasley reception which got them closer than the half the distance penalty would’ve. The pass to Knox was so close which was a bummer since he was open. A more athletic TE might have been able to jump for it. Finally, for those who thought Ford got better as the season went on, on the final play, he pushes the defender once with arms extended but then lets him go, forcing Josh to throw up a prayer where Cole B Smurf was outjumped for the ball by the DB. Aarrgghh! I don’t know why I let myself rewatch losses.
  18. Yes, and the most overlooked part of Bruce’s success is that he had the most sacks in NFL history playing DE in a 3-4 defense. He would also have a lot of tackles, twice over 100 tackles in a season.
  19. Marv is overrated. He was out coached in all 4 Super Bowls.
