Remember that Parcells has said in the past that he doesn't believe in spending big money on WRs that are only involved in a few plays per game.

That's why a team like Buffalo needs to build thru the draft. If they can't attract the free agents, invest in their college scouting staff to find the diamonds in the rough. They especially can't afford to have 1st rounders be busts (Mike Williams, Erik Flowers, Losman), or trade them away for players who don't have a lasting impact (Bledsoe). You've also had trading up to draft a disappointing McCargo and taking a risk on an injured McGahee when you already had a productive RB in T.Henry. They don't have to "hit All Pro home runs" with each 1st rounder but need to at least get a productive starter (like Whitner, Evans, Clements) out of them. The misses & mistakes with the 1st rounders are a big reason for this playoff drought. I saw an article before the Super Bowl about what Pittsburgh had done with its 1st rounders in the last 10 years and it was pretty impressive.

Why is it that these guys keep being busts with Buffalo?? I say it's coaching but the Bills even had McNally and still the O-Line underachieved. Mike Gandy ends up being the starting LT for the Super Bowl Cardinals. He wasn't much with the Bills. I suppose Dockery will now make the Pro Bowl back with the Skins?? If the Skins watched film of him the last couple years, why would they offer him $5 Mil a year?? What became of Tuten Reyes?? One thing most of you have right is that most of the Bills' free agent signings have been based on potential. With all of the deals that ended overpaying for performance, just once a year paying for a proven star should've paid off better.

In how many other fields would this be true??
-
Right, then they move to LA !!

Another thought on a waste of time with Taylor. It was reported that he was visiting the Pats & Bills. Did they really think they had a chance against the best run organization and most successful team?? I would think it would have to be a player 100% after the money and the Bills offering twice as much as the Pats to have a chance.

One smart thing I guess signing a Fitzpatrick vs the others is it doesn't give any false illusions about the offense. Despite how the offense was with Kelly, it doesn't make sense to have a passing offense playing in the Buffalo Winter. A ball-control run-oriented offense makes more sense. The cost to acquire some of these other QBs could be a waste if they were underutilized. I have had an issue with the Bills continuing to acquire QBs who grew up in California, even though I live out here, when they have little or no exposure to playing in winter weather. Fitzpatrick had played for Harvard in likely some poor conditions and 2 seasons with Cincy. Hopefully Edwards gets used to the conditions.

Yahoo Sports has a list of the Top 100 Free Agents going into Friday. Hangartner is # 61, and listed as the 4th center after Jason Brown, Grove & Birk. Fitzpatrick was WAY down the list at #91 and the 8th QB. Hopefully this works out but I'm somewhat disappointed. Possibly they could've had Cassell for a 2nd rounder, Rosenfells for a 4th, Kitna in some deal or Frerotte for nothing. Sure, you can say Edwards is your guy & you don't want him looking over his shoulder but to me the jury is still out on him, especially with the injury history & cold weather play. Why would you not want to position yourself to improve on that position??

At the end of Free agency would you be happy with this?

How about Nate Washington?? He's done well as #3 Steeler WR. Could be ready to be a #2. -
Carolina OL Geoff Hangartner signs with the Bills

C-hawks also have Seneca Wallace who has played welll when he's had to. -
I was waiting for Frerotte to be cut after the Vikes traded for Rosenfels.
-
Actually his stats for last season weren't too bad. 8 TD passes vs 9 INTs for 1905 yds & just under 60& completion percentage. He also had over 300 yds running. The negatives?? His average yards per passing attempt was 5.1. His yds per rush was higher at around 6.0. Both Whoseyourmomma and Ocho Cinco averaged about 10 yds per reception which is pretty poor. I remember being offered Housh in my FFL but all I had to see were games like 7 receptions for about 50 yds to stay away from him. So, no deep balls from this guy. Probably for the best considering the RWS weather factor, but you'd like to have the threat. Sure we could've picked up Rosenfels for a 4th but we didn't.

Detroit Businessman looks to regionalize Bills

You mean like the LA Lakers and the Utah Jazz?? Been done before and can be done again. Buffalo or Erie County could go to court to preserve the name as the Cleveland area did with the 'Browns' name when Modell moved his team to Baltimore. They changed the name to the Ravens but I wonder if they would've changed it anyways. Baltimore Browns? -
And the Bills wasted 1st round picks on both of these clowns after trading other picks to move back into the 1st round. Oy vay!! Whereas you have to give some credit to the front office for making these moves to try & get another 1st round quality guy. It just didn't work out with the 2 players they selected.
-
If this is true, you'all can thank me. Just about every year, whoever I draft in the 1st round for my fantasy football team either gets injured or has a poor year. Consider my selection of Brady this year as my contribution to help the Bills try to end their playoff drought.
-
I was surprised they also cut receiver Chad Jackson, their 2nd round pick in the 2006 draft. Since receivers can take a while to adjust to the NFL, he must really have not impressed BB.
-
Yeah, that's great. Belechick has picked up Bills cuts before prior to their playing each other just to get info (Ex:Jonathan Smith) only to cut them after the game.
-
I read also that Murphy returned to practice but he's 3 weeks away from being cleared to play?? So you have a low-round rookie in Bell as your lone backup OT going into the opener?? Furthermore, they kept only 6 LBs, including a recently converted Corto, with 2 of them (DiGiorgio & Corto) missing practice on Sunday and Jauron saying they SHOULD be available for next Sunday?? Are they just holding them out as long as they can as prep for the opener??
-
Weird that the lone Off Lineman is someone brought in recently due to injuries. I guess he impressed or none of the others (like Gaddis) are eligible for PS.
-
Dude probably should've stuck with baseball. I guess he could give it another try since he's only 28.

Who will get cut when Peters reports?
BobbyC81 replied to Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No way would it be Hamdan. With the injury history of Edwards & Losman, this is one team that needs to carry 3 QBs. -
Do you mean once they practice in camp?? Carnell (Cadillac) Williams reported to Tampa Bay's camp but wasn't able to practice/play so he went on PUP. He was working out pulling a weighted sled.
-
I'm sure his friend Gary laughed even more when he saw that. I can't believe I actually watched the whole thing. Showed some creativity but too long.

But I don't get why they just didn't do it now and keep another player like TE Tim Massaquoi. Who would've thought letting Michael Gaines leave would've mattered??
