  1. Perhaps when Jauron frequently said "We like the guys we have", Fewell wasn't one of the "We"??
  2. I think a post the other day hit the nail on the head: Ralph waited to see if Jauron took advantage of the bye week to make some improvements to make a difference. Even though the game was tied after 3 Qtrs, the embarrassing final score was status quo. The last 7 games will also be a good chance for evaluation of current players. Now, there may be nobody left from the coaching staff or personnel dept for next season, but some evaluations can be made with a different coach now with a different style. AFter the season, it'll be interesting to see if a new GM is hired before the draft with new player personnel evaluators or they let the current team prep for the draft & free agency. I'd rather see the new team in place to make their own decisions on players. Otherwise you end up with scenarios like drafting players for the Tampa 2 and then have a new coach with a different defensive philosophy. I'm hoping we get the right mix of GM & coaches to develop the right team for playing in Buffalo winters. In other words, the big defensive players along with O-Line instead of these schemes relying on quickness. And please no QB that grew up & played collegiately in California or any other warm weather states. All that being said, Shanahan was successful with his zone blocking scheme that used quick O-linemen playing in Denver where winter hits even earlier than in Buffalo. So, hiring him would not necessarily require changes to O-Line. Actually, don't the Bills currently have one of the biggest O-Lines in the league based on weight??
  3. Yeah, that always makes it a risky proposition. Most people want the promotion and added responsibilities but if you don't do well in the new position, you can't go back to your previous position which you may be better suited for.
  4. I hated that move from the start. Being a Fantasy Football player, I saw what Fitzpatrick did to the stats of Ochocinco & Houseurmama. They rarely averaged 10 yards a reception. He could not throw downfield (and/or wasn't allowed to). He has kind of surprised me with some of his deeper throws this season. As has been discussed frequently, it doesn't matter who's at QB if the O-Line can't give them time. The likes of Bledsoe & Rob Johnson would stand back there for 4, 5 or 6 seconds and get sacked. This year, I don't know how frequently either QB has had even 4 secs?? Even if the team determines that Edwards is not the guy, I still would focus the 1st round of the next draft on another O-lineman. If there are none to justify the draft position, then consider other positions. By the way, here's a vote for Jim Harbaugh as next coach. The guy has done wonders at Stanford. Hire him & then in 2 years he can try to get his QB Andrew Luck. That kid has "it". No fear of throwing downfield for him.
  5. Holmgren is a very good coach but I don't know about being GM. His success in Green Bay was with Ron Wolf as GM. In Seattle he was given total control but then he gave up GM job becuz he was spread too thin. I think the Super Bowl year was after he gave up GM duties.
  6. You mean bringing Marv back?? Don't laugh. Would you really be surprised if this happened, at least on an interim basis for the rest of the season??
  7. Neither do they!!
  8. For whatever it's worth, according to Marv Levy in his book, he recommended Polian who he had worked with before so Ralph didn't stumble onto him. I'm still of the opinion that Levy was an average coach who was given the fantastic talent that led to his success. He was frequently outcoached in big games however (Ex: Super Bowl 25) and he could've done a better job with the Bickering Bills and with the team reaction to Thurman's fumble returned for a TD to start the 2nd half of Super Bowl 28 that just tied the game. Leaving TT by himself to sulk was not the way to handle the latter. But, give Marv a kudo for recommending Polian.
  9. I'm not so sure the Bills would've taken Willis had he been available. Remember Levy's post-draft comments that they had 3 players targeted for their 1st round pick and they were all still available??? He also was happy that they actually got two of them, with getting Poz in the 2nd. This past draft, they were probably set on taking Maybin that they wouldn't have picked Crabtree if he was still there. The holdout aside, Crabtree is an impact player. while Maybin is a project. Living in No Cal, it's annoying seeing the Niners with both Willis (especially him) & Crabtree that were taken the pick before the Bills. Willis IS the key to the success of the Niners defense. Looking back, I'm still amazed at some of the personell decisions made this offseason when Jauron knew he was in a make-or-break situation. Signing TO led us to believe that they were committed to winning but trading Peters, drafting the project in Maybin and two interior offensive linemen that became starters reflected just the opposite. Add to that the Langston Walker issue & adding Bell to the OL inexperience and these moves made no sense for a coach that needed his team to win to keep his job.
  10. And it's amazing TO hasn't gone off to the media. I think he's due. Maybe he'll go to LA this week to spend time with his Reality Show buddies and just not come back
  11. And Byrd will now probably miss time wth an injury. How about when asked if they'll bribg some new players in to replace the injured, DJ says "We like the guys we have.""??
  12. Fitz is maybe the 1st NFL QB I've seen who has to windup like a shortstop to get the ball there
  13. Dick, his family, friends & assistant coaches?? I just voted and the Yes percentage dropped to one for 820 votes
  14. You also have the coach last week saying "we like the guys we have" when the backup OTs look absolutely horrible. I don't know how much weight Jauron has on personnel decisions but, given another year and a do or die situation, why do you commit to starting 2 rookies on the OL and dropping your most experienced O-lineman (Walker) right before the season???? Of course, one of the worst things is having your owner approving your signing of TO & you can't figure out how to get him the ball. With TO, Evans, Lynch & Jackson, you have a very good group of skilled playmakers and you can only score 3 pts at home vs another struggling team??
  15. Those of us who were around can recall what was done with the Buffalo Braves. Team's lease had an out if the average attendance went below a certain amount so they gutted the team, resulting in a horrible product, with the biggest deal being Bob McAdoo to NY for John Gianelli (Who?) and cash. Attendance dropped below the threshhold and the team left for San Diego. Unfortunately there are so many season ticket holders this year that the team won't feel the backlash of this pathetic team in their pocketbooks. So, how many of you will renew for 2010? On the bright side, with this horrible team, Toronto may not be interested in getting any more games.
  16. Aaaaarrrgggghhhh!! You're playing the hottest scoring team in the league and you have the opportunity to get the ball 1st & score 1st and you freakin' defer ??? This has happended quite a bit recently, meaning they've had good luck with the toss. So, you get the ball 1st in the 2nd half!! Whoopdeedoo!!! If you fall behind on the 1st possession you gave up (like this past Sunday), you're playing catchup the rest of the game. Somebody good with animation needs to make us some type of video game where we can throw things at Jauron (like the George Bush one with the shoes) that we can all have & take out our frustrations with. If you hit him, he lets out an Oof or Doh or something. ANother idea is a punching bag with Jauron's face but that's maybe getting a little overboard.
  17. Calm Bell down?? That doesn't explain not knowing how to line up. And then doing it again. Rookie mistakes.
  18. You got me with your Avatar. For a brief moment I thought it was a bug on my screen.
  19. Like your Username. Chandler was my favorite player as a kid
  20. Looked like he took off his Hall of Fame jacket and gave it to him. It didn't sound like him though. Kelly has a much deeper voice.
  21. I suspect maybe a win at the Jets with another home loss. At this point, I can't see them scoring enough to beat the Saints.
  22. For whatever it's worth, Sporting News predicts a Bills record of 6-10 with all home game wins. Two home losses are New England & Indy. In this scenario, Bills start out 2-1 and are 4-4 at Bye Week, meaning Jauron would be safe at that point. Split of following 4 games would leave them at 6-6 going into the last quarter of season but then losing the last 4. Jauron would likely last the season but be gone quickly after.
  23. I'm going to give the coaching staff & Management the benefit of the doubt. I want to wait & see what they look like after about 4 games. Since preseason doesn't matter & most Head Coaches don't show their hand in terms of offensive plays, let's see what happens in a few regular season games. Jauron has to acknowledge that Belechick is a great coach since he's not beat him once in 6 games over 3 years. So, opening the season against the Pats, why would he want to show much in meaningless preseason games??
  24. Fine is the best blocker of the TEs. Schouman is the starter. I think Hardy stays on PUP & Omon stays at least until Lynch is back. McIntyre may get another try at carrying the ball tomorrow to see if he's worth keeping. As others have said, they could keep a 4th TE if McIntyre is cut. Likely one or the other. Since we know the Bills Mgmt is stubborn with the 3 "motor' guys at DE in Schobel, Denney & Kelsay, I would still like them to keep both Ellis & C.Bryan but I think they can only afford to keep 5 DEs. LBs and safeties usually fill out the roster for special teams.
