A fond memory of my youth listening to Van broacasting Bills & Braves games. Unfortunately, I only got to hear him for a few years doing Bills games because of the 7-year switch to WKBW and then I moved away. RIP Van!

Only Bill I ever met in public was Mike Kadish at Pierce Arrow. I guess I was the jerk then when I said "Look, it's Fred Smerlas!!" since he didn't laugh. He was cool though for the few mins we talked to him.

Yeah, I see they've adopted some of the NFL rules with the over 5-yard illegal contact, coach challenges, etc. but I do like their allowing of motion. There were frequently plays with 3 receivers running towards the line of scrimmage. I've never cared for the NFL rules regarding motion or lack thereof.

Just finished watching the CFL game between Winnipeg & Hamilton from Thursday night, which was broadcast on ESPN2. I had paid enough attention to the CFL to know that Drew Willy was the starting QB for Winnipeg, backed up by Brian Brohm, and Steve Tasker's kid played for Hamilton so I recorded the game. It turns out, young Tasker didn't play due to injury but Willy started and had a good 1st quarter before getting knocked out of the game with a concussion. In came our old friend Brohm, who tossed 2 pick sixes as Hamilton won the game easily.

Thanks! Being a Warriors fan for the last 35 years has been similar to being a Bills fan. Poor management. Poor coaching. Many losing seasons, many of which had the team win enough games that they ended up picking later in the draft lottery and missing out on the better players. Poor head-scratching draft choices. Not able to attract top free agents.

With my Golden State Warriors winning the NBA Championship, I can check that off of my sports wish list. With the UB basketball team making the NCAA Tourney for the 1st time, just a few years after their football team played in their 1st bowl game, all that's left is the Bills winning a Super Bowl and the Sabres winning the Stanley Cup.

Me, too! I don't think I'd want to open it at this point. Who knows what's living in there.

Don't forget, the Pats also have Hoomanawanui, you know like the fish in the Hawaiian song.

Why don't they just go ahead and cut Chris Williams already?

I'm not optomistic. Yahoo has been horrible about fixing things that aren't real time and pretty unsuccessful with some areas that are. For example, go to Yahoo Sports and click on the box score for a baseball game in progress. Note that the score and inning you saw before clicking on the box. When the box opens it is usually for an earlier inning. It eventually refreshes to be current but somtimes is unstable. This has been an issue for a couple years. It's not as bad as it was initially where you could watch it constantly changing from current time to earlier part of the game but still annoying. I guess they can stream a preseason game to evaluate and correct some issues but there's no way to simulate what this London game will really be like. I hope they can figure it out but I'm not looking forward to a pleasant experience. Being on the West coast, I will also have to get up at 6 to watch.

Ditto. It was hard not to become a fan of the Cowboys back then. They were on TV every week.

Hopefully they weren't forced to sign some type of confidentiality agreement. They also could've been given a nice severance package. May the scandal continue!!

They screwed it up though. They could have taken TE Maxx Williams in the 2nd round and G Darryl Williams in the 3rd.

We keep hearing this year after year about "next year's draft" and how many times has that panned out? One year, when Matt Barkley was a junior, he was projected as a top pick in the following draft (2013). After his senior year and a shoulder injury, he wasn't picked until the 4th round and hasn't had much of an NFL career to-date. Our own EJ Manuel became the 1st QB taken with the 18th pick in that draft while other notables from the prior year like Landry Jones & Tyler Wilson also dropped to the 4th.
