His overall stat history is more impressive than the trio (Samuel, Claypool, MVS). they brought in before except that his catch percentage is terrible. Yes, he had the likes of Zach Wilson throwing to him with the Jets but he did have Tannehill in Tennessee. We, of course, don’t know the circumstances behind the stats. If he was running a lot of deep patterns, that would likely explain some of it. Hopefully it’s not because he has the hands of Gabe Davis or MVS.

2020 seems to be an outlier with all 4 hits. 2018 and 2021 seem to be the norm. So, chances are that only 2 of the 5 QBs taken in the 2024 first round will be solid starters or better. I saw Caleb Williams struggle under pressure by the upper echelon defenses he played against in college but the Bears gave him one of the best WR groups a rookie QB has ever had. They already had DJ Moore and then added Keenan Allen and Odunze? Guys like Josh may be envious.

In case any of you missed it, Ken Dorsey was hired as OC of the Browns. Of course his role is somewhat affected by his head coach, Stefanski, being an offensive coach. Just read that the Browns plan to run an uptempo offense to have as many plays as they can. Stefanski was quoted as saying “we still need to adapt to the defense we’re playing with game plans. Doesn’t that take imagination, which Dorsey seemed to be lacking?

There will no longer allow surprise onside kicks. What’s the point? Teams have to tell the ref theyre trying an onside kick, who i guess tells the opponent. How dumb! Also, in case you didn’t catch it, the wind blew the ball off the tee. The team (Bears?) were allowed to bring on a 12th man to hold and he had to immediately run off the field. Purdy is also an elite decision maker, which Josh is very good at. Some QBs struggle with it.

It’ll be interesting to see how he does on kickoffs in the preseason games. Personally, I say just continue to blast it out of the end zone. So, the opponent gets the ball at the 30. I’d much rather just do that then take the risk that all of the 9 blockers don’t move early. In general, on these kickoffs, players should use a strategy I didn’t see used on the couple of kickoffs I watched in Thursday’s game. Since the blocker has to turn his head to look back if the ball is being returned, the opposite defender should run to th3 other side of the blocker. They’re starting so close to each other, he’d have a good chance to get by the blocker.

This past season, Aiyuk, Deebo, Kittle and McCaffrey all had between 60 to 75 receptions. Talk about balance!

Me thinks that may not be that much of a part of this offense. Some of the stuff they’re running seems a little like Niners offense. Get the ball quickly to the playmakers and let them do something with it. I want to see intermediate passes to Kincaid down the seam. That sideline stuff Dorsey was running with him was ridiculous.

I was watching the Netflix Receivers series and they just had to show that Justin Jefferson catch where Lewis should’ve knocked it down instead of trying to catch it. He should be cut just because of that.

Speaking of moonshot, is it just a coincidence that the Jets Super Bowl win and the first moon landing were in 1969? The next scheduled manned moon landing is September 2026.
