I can see it playing out that Holcomb (if he starts) would gain a split at home......lose @ Oakland.....so 1-2 with Holcomb.....then you have questions (QB starter prominent) leading into the game @ Foxboro. So, a very good chance to create more questions, more headaches and create a bigger perception of a lack of direction.
This is just bad timing. I don't think you pull JP with 2 home games against divisional opponents. This is where you see what the kid has. This is the kind of opportunity you have JP go with. And if you bring in Holcomb, and maybe split the next two.....I just think this is setting itself up in a bad way, when it leads to the game in Foxboro.
Are you saying that JP should re-invent himself as Kelly Holcomb Jr., through observation?
Holcomb is like a poor man's Billy Volek. He should have been able to crack the starting lineup in Cleveland.
What is the point in delaying JP's development? Of course it is going to be a rough road to travel, but I don't see the point in pulling out the rug after just 1/4 of a season.
QB is a pressure-packed position. Are you suggesting that JP wants to have a seat to relieve the pressure?
Two home games against divisional opponents.....sounds like the kind of games JP needs to be starting in.
Agreed.
What is the team going to get out of Holcomb anyway? Maybe some short-term success? JP can only learn and develop on the field. Dumb, reactionary move on behalf of the coaches.
I think Bob Corkum retired. Thrice would not have been nice.
Teppo, Harpo, Chico, Groucho.....actually they played ok in the preseason. But, I expect a 4th place finish in the division.
