According to KFFL: Lions | Team interested in Bruce Tue, 7 Mar 2006 10:08:56 -0800 Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports agent Jimmy Sexton said four teams have expressed an interest in free agent WR Isaac Bruce (Rams). The Post-Dispatch has confirmed the Detroit Lions are one of those four teams. Yeah, now there's a good move Detroit. Add another WR to your team. And for good measure, draft another WR in the 1st round of the draft again this year.

Actually, I like Huff over Davis and Ngata at #8. In terms of need, I rank them as follows: Ngata, Huff, Davis In terms of value, I rank them as follows: Huff, Davis, Ngata I think each has the impact to be a true stud in the league. I think we can still grab good value at the DT position and/or TE position later in the draft. Also, my brother lives in Austin, TX and has had the chance to watch Huff play. He loves the kid. Would be ecstatic to see him in a Bills uniform.

Sam Adams willgo to the team that gives him the most jack - plain and simple - he is a professional mercenary. The Dolfags will not be the team that offers him the most - don't sweat it guys.

Has anyone considered that this might mean that the Jeff Posey experiment in Buffalo is finished? Please, oh please, let it be true!!!!!!!!! Remember, free agency will answer a lot of questions regarding our draft philosophy. Adding linemen (offensive and/or defensive) through free agency gives you more immediate impact than through the draft.

Two names stand out to me: (1) Mike Green, S, Chicago (2) Billy Volek, QB, Tenn If Mike Green is cut, Marv should get him signed ASAP. Talk about a guy who has a knack of being around the ball. The guy showed it at Nebraska in college and continues to show it in the NFL. All he does is make plays. As far as Billy Volek is concerned, I recall that his agent came out several months after he resigned with the Titans (rather than signing with Buffalo) and saying that Billy regretted not signing with the Bills. Billy really wanted (wants) to be a starter and he realized that he would have had that if he had signed with Buffalo. In hindsight, if he would signed with the Bills, we would have not traded to get JP and who knows how our last 2 drafts would have looked. TD might still be in the driver's seat.

Based upon a report on Great Blue North Draft Report website (www.gbnreport.com - story is about 1/3 down the page), the Jets are considering Jay Cutler with their pick. If this really does occur, D'Brickshaw could easily fall to the Bills at #8 since Green Bay (#5 pick) has much more pressing needs on defense, San Francisco (#6 pick) has Jonas Jennings at left tackle, and Oakland (#7 pick) selected Robert Gallery two years ago to be their eventual left tackle. My ideal offseason would be to land a DT in free agency (Larry Triplett), get Ferguson in the 1st round, and Darnell Bing in the 2nd round.

BIG FYI --> Coin toss is scheduled for 1:45 PM this afternoon (Friday).

“Is it likely that he’s going to be a top-of-the-line first or second rounder? Not likely.” Levy said a mid-round pick of someone that they are surprised or pleased to see on the board at that time would be possible. He also said that the team would consider a free agent if he’s relatively young and the kind of talent who clearly has the talent level to become a starter, such as a Brett Favre when he was with Atlanta or Steve Young when he was with Tampa." On that note, I would love to see them bring in Josh McCown.

I have been thinking about this for a while. I think the Bills have a MAJOR problem outside of offensive line, defensive line, QB, etc. What is it you ask? This team has NO ONE to market around. NO ONE! Let's see - JP....NO....major road bumps (not all his fault) in second year. Takeo....NO....coming back from season ending surgery. Willis....NO....self-proclaimed best running back in the league - NOT! See my point? So, here is what I'm proposing....if AJ Hawk is there at pick #8, you take him! Not only as a stud linebacker, but also as a marketing piece for 2006. The team would now be able to market themselves into central Ohio and appeal to Buckeye fans. The team could then become a much bigger regional team. Granted, you are beginning to infringe on Brown, Steeler, and Bengal territory, but once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye! Coupling this with retaining Nate Clements...and even throwing Tim Anderson into the marketing angle....and you got yourself a solid program. Couple AJ Hawk with the selection of Nick Mangold (offensive lineman from Ohio State) in the 2nd round of the draft and you've got yourself a plan!

I agree. Max Jean-Gilles has looked very solid. Would be a nice addition to the line. We could get rid of that joker Bennie Anderson. The most disappointing player of the day has Winston. He has been getting knocked around all day.

In reading the board for many years now, I would have to say that as fans we have expressed the most grief in our recent head coaches (Williams and Mularkey) in the following areas: (1) Poor selection of coaching staff (Williams' hiring of Mike Shepherd; Williams' hiring - and refusal to fire - Kevin Gilbride; Mularkey's taking of offensive play calling away from Tom Clements) (2) Poor handling of personnel moves (Williams' push to sign washed up former players like Eddie Robinson, et al; Mularkey's handling of the Eric Moulds situation) So, if those are our two biggest areas of grief, which of the candidates that have been interviewed do you perceive as not having problems in these two areas?
-
Hmmm...let me see..."Hey Dick, you weren't our first choice for head coach...we think Mike is a better fit for that position...but why not sign on as our defensive coordinator?". C'mon guys! Stop playing fantasy owner/GM! If you were interviewing for a position and it came down to you and someone else, would you take a position underneath the one you interviewed for???????? I thought not.

ESPN is also reporting today that Houston picked up the option on David Carr and will be drafting Reggie Bush once he officially declares his intent to enter the draft. ESPN is also reporting that New Orleans will take Leinhart at #2 and Tennessee will take Young at #3. This is very good news for Bills fans. Ferguson and Williams are being pushed further down the line toward the Bills in the #8 slot!

How to fix the Bills in 3 moves.....
Buffalo Wing replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know everyone is bunched in the panties about Steve Hutchinson...as well they should be...but do you really think that he will leave a Super Bowl caliber team and come here? The Seahawks have tied up monies recently to Matt Hasselbeck and Walter Jones, and will need to invest some big pesos in Shaun Alexander as well, but they will do everything possible to keep Hutch in the Northwest. Seattle is a perfect example of what to do - BUILD THE LINE! They know they have the 2nd best o-line in the NFL (next to Kansas City's line) and will not allow that line to be broken up. -
Moulds to be suspended for rest of season
Buffalo Wing replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have been silent on this issue until now. I have two simple points to make: (1) A lot of people on this board have sided with Moulds. Guys, how can you side with Moulds, or Mularkey for that matter, when it has yet to be disclosed EXACTLY what happened? Wait until the complete story is told before taking sides. (2) One of the things that our society sorely lacks is respect for authority. This is especially true in today's sporting leagues. We have several generations of (younger) people who have been raised to question authority. Sorry guys, but respect and submission to authority is a key cornerstone to any successful organization. Like it or not, the players should respect the authority of the coaches, you and I should respect the authority of our bosses, etc, etc, etc. At least Troy Vincent appears to be echoing a semblance of this principle. My father and his father are/were retired Army personnel...and respect for authority is something that they learned in the service and passed on to me. I would have to say, without reservation, that that has been one of their greatest legacy pieces left to me. -
Random observations from the game.
Buffalo Wing replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to agree on all points. Couple extra points - no pun intended: (1) I watched Gandy as much as I could and I have to say that he was solid...not great, but not horrible either...I do want to temper my relief though as he was matched up against an average defensive line last night. I'll be curious to see how he continues to look in the next couple preason games. (2) I thought Kelsay had a solid game last night. He had several good moves and brought some nice heat into the Indy backfield. -
Since you are giving me two choices only, I would definitely vote for Duff's. I love the fact that they are dripping in hot sauce. In fact - true story here - we went to Duff's one night and a friend of mine actually drank the sauce at the bottom of basket. Needless to say, he had a rough night (and next morning). But, Duff's and Anchor Bar aside, my wife does make the best wings around!!! Whenever we are invited to a pot luck, people will ask (actually beg is more accurate) her to make her wings.

How dare anyone post fact on this board! Especially when it comes to Coy Wire! [sarcasm] When I posted fact on him LAST PRESEASON, I got horribly flamed...and yes, I am still bitter about it. Please, please, please Coach Mularkey, please let him go.

The Bills had a special town meeting on last night
Buffalo Wing replied to #89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've often said that there is a fine line between cocky and confident. What I have found in the business world is that those that are most successful know exactly where the line is and how to toe the line at all times. That is what Jim Kelly was able to do....especially in the 2nd half of his career. -
We could have had a 2nd for Henry??
Buffalo Wing replied to Buffan00's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You have to believe that this is a "save face" comment on behalf of Jacksonville. Do you really believe for a minute that TD would have walked away from a 2nd round pick for Henry? C'mon guys! -
Verba getting some interest from Buffalo?
Buffalo Wing replied to The_Real's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With Travis Henry traded, I believe the Bills are now somewhere in the neighborhood of $4 million under the cap. This is based on salary cap info provided on Bills Zone ($2.78 million) + Henry's contract ($1.25 million). We still have most of our draft picks to sign, so this number will drop a little. Donahoe also likes to hold onto some money to give him a buffer for the year in the event that an injury occurs. With those factors in play, I am not sure that Verba is in the picture. Personally, I still have concerns at the tackle position...mostly from a depth standpoint. Heck, we have Jason Peters and Dylan McFarland as our backups to Gandy and Big Mike. I would feel a heck of a lot better if we had someone with experience for a backup (ala Marcus Price). If Gandy and/or Big Mike go down for any extended period of time, we are in trouble...unless the plan would be to move Teague out to tackle and slide Tucker or Preston into center...the problem with that scenario is that you are making 2 changes on the line at the same time...which from a continuity standpoint is not good. -
Why is everyone so happy about the trade?
Buffalo Wing replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, let me disagree on this...let's look at TD's success in the 3rd round since arriving in Buffalo: 2001 Draft --> Jonas Jennings and Ron Edwards are selected. Jennings goes on to become our starting left tackle before inking with the 49'ers. Edwards is set to become a starter at defensive tackle this year. Advantage: Donahoe. 2002 Draft --> Coy Wire is selected. Wire starts some games before Lawyer Milloy is picked up by TD. Wire does excel at special teams. Advantage: Donahoe. 2003 Draft --> Angelo Crowell is selected. Tough call since he sits behind three solid linebackers. Does have the skills to play outside or inside linebacker. Crowell does excel at special teams. Advantage: Donahoe. 2004 Draft --> Tim Anderson is selected. Too early to call. Should enter rotation this year. Advantage: Push. 2005 Draft --> Kevin Everett is selected. Too early to call. Can't wait to see this kid though when he is healed. Advantage: Push. At this point, I'll take TD's track record in the 3rd round. I am confident that he'll land a solid player with the Titans pick. And, by the way, here is the Titans' schedule this year: Pittsburgh, Baltimore, St Louis, Indy, Houston, Cincy, Arizona, Oakland, Cleveland, Jax, San Francisco, Indy, Houston, Seattle, Miami, Jax. I would predict a 4-12 season for them...which would put them right near the top of the 3rd round. -
Trust me on this one...I am an expert...not by training but by experience. My wife and I bought an old farm house about 5 years ago. It is next to a field and situated between a horse farm and a cow farm. We joke around that our house is on the mouse highway! Once fall comes around and the temperature starts to drop, we invariably get critters in the house, despite the fact that I have sealed every possible hole I could find with Good Stuff! Get the plastic Victor mouse traps. They are a beige color and are sold in packages of two. Put a little peanut butter at the very back of the metal bar rather than on the front of it. It forces them to work for their food before they meet their maker! I would have to say that my success rate with these type of traps is >95%. Best of luck!

Offense - Kent Hull (w/o Hull, we come nowhere close to 4 Superbowls) Defense - Phil Hansen (the greatest Bill ever in my opinion) ST - Steve Tasker (there is no one even close)
