  1. That was before he forgot how to play football. In his last year in Philly, he was the worst starter in the league, and he’s never recovered. As an added bonus, he’s apparently never been popular in the locker room either… I’m also old enough to remember a very good 1998 Bills team losing to Ryan Leaf in his NFL debut. That didn’t make Leaf a good quarterback.
  2. Wentz sucks at football. There is no reason to even consider him. It is insane that two teams traded high draft picks for him after his flameout in Philly. Just shows how incompetent some teams are, as if we needed more evidence. At least Corral is an unknown and has some potential upside.
  3. Gonna cost at least two firsts, and of course whatever Bosa’s contract demands are…
  4. There were reports that Basham had a really good camp, so some people perhaps hoped he had turned a corner and was going to play up to his draft position…but alas, it appears he was going to be cut.
  5. Let’s hope he doesn’t resign, at least not mid-season. It’s probably more likely that he will re-sign.
  6. College football gets by without preseason games, so why not the NFL? (I know a lot of power five programs open up against Cupcake U, but not always; every year there are some big games scheduled for the first week of the college season...I think the Big 10 now prohibits its teams from playing games against 1-AA schools.)
  7. I think we are headed down a slippery slope. I believe the decision to postpone/cancel the Hamlin game was correct, but that was truly a unique situation--a player possibly dying on the field. Nevertheless, a precedent of sorts was established and I think that's why these pre-season games were cancelled. No one wants to be called out for being "insensitive", so the standard for postponing or canceling a game will become lower and lower. That's just how our society works these days. I fully expect another regular season game to be cancelled this year due to a situation that is less serious than the Hamlin incident.
  8. Man, Deshaun Watson looks bulked up and slower than I remembered…wonder if he’s medicating…
  9. If a smart team spent three first round picks on a guy, what does that say about his raw talent level? See how that works?
  10. We need to get used to this....every talking head is going to be picking the Jets in the opener and this is exactly what we should want. It's been a while since we were considered an underdog in a divisional game, or really any game. I think it's what this team needs.
  11. The Jets are going to be the trendy pick here…all the experts are going to pick against the Bills and I expect the line to move to Jets -1 before kickoff. I think this is exactly where we want to be…the disrespected team with a chip on our shoulder. Bills 24-20.
  12. Are you serious? That is a horrific WR group in Houston…I mean, 2018 Bills horrific. They have drafted terribly too.
  13. Texans are a bad team. Even with all the premium picks they’ve had recently, they look devoid of talent.
  14. Stroud looked much better after the first series. Let’s not forget, that Texans receiving crew is 2018 Bills awful…Bob Woods is their scariest “weapon”…
  15. All true. That was the era of the Running Back and OJ was the greatest there was. In today’s NFL, he would be a wide receiver, and a great one, a faster, more devastating version of Debo Samuel.
  16. And because the Bills of that era had the worst coaches in the history of professional football, OJ didn't really even get started until his fourth year in the league. He would have been an incredible WR in todays game...
  17. I believe the Bills as a team passed for less than 1000 yards that year. Think about that...
  18. But what about the frequency of running plays down there? Running plays are generally more successful than pass plays inside the 5-yard line. My sense is that the Bills rarely tried to run the ball down there, other than Josh.
  19. One thing is for sure: In a civil lawsuit like this, it's very easy to obtain records showing exactly how much everyone made from the movie rights and where that money went. If, as has been reported, the movie grossed more than $300 million, then the numbers involved are probably much higher than you've indicated above. One last point: the notion that Oher tried to "shake them down" for eight figures before the lawsuit was filed is silly. It's standard practice before filing a lawsuit like this to make a pre-litigation demand. It's not extortion, or even immoral.
  20. Correct. He was already a star athlete before they “took him in”. Well it’s pretty easy to find out exactly how much money they made off the movie…our legal system is quite good at that…guess we’ll find out…
  21. Kingsbury was powerless to do anything to rein in Manziel. Even Kevin Sumlin was powerless. (It is interesting that Sumlin was not interviewed for the documentary.)
  22. How did Kingsbury come off looking bad? I thought he was one of the few who came out of it just fine…
  23. They "guided" him into being 6'6", 340 lbs and highly athletic? I think you're taking the movie too literally. They were nice to him and helped him out; that doesn't mean they get credit for what he became. Without reading the complaint, it's hard to know what Oher's legal theory is or whether there are facts to support it, but if the Toueys told everyone they didn't make money from the movie and in fact they made millions that they did not share with Michael, then they could have a problem.
