Joe Marino: 1/4 of Bills 2024 salary cap is dead cap!
mannc replied to JaCrispy's topic in The Stadium Wall
How do you figure the Chiefs' WR room is better than the Bills? Hollywood Brown is on his third team and is always injured (and is injured now) and Worthy is a rookie who's proved nothing, just like Keon Coleman. Rasheed Rice and Shakir seem comparable, assuming Rice doesn't get suspended. Both teams have plenty of question marks here. This seems like a push. -
Joe Marino: 1/4 of Bills 2024 salary cap is dead cap!

Marino did not necessarily disagree with the decisions that led to the Bills’ dead cap hit…what he said is that it’s a competitive disadvantage when teams like the Chiefs have a dead cap hit of less than $20 million. That’s a lot less money you have available to sign players. Simple fact. Doesn’t mean the Bills won’t be good, but it makes it harder. -
Good grief…

That’s nonsense. They open against Jacksonville and play the Jets twice, SF, Seattle and the Rams, just off the top of my head.

So, contrary to popular belief, there is no agreement (tacit or otherwise) between the NFL and the NCAA (or high school football) to leave Labor Day weekend alone. And of course the “ratings” argument was a myth, as well.

Watching football is hardly inconsistent with enjoying a family holiday. Feel free to tune out if you want.
-
I think you found your way to the wrong website.
-
That makes no sense. There is no such agreement. There was only one college game yesterday. Sunday was wide open for the NFL.
-
Funny, college football games played on Labor Day Weekend generate very respectable ratings…the ratings for Notre Dame-Texas A&M were the highest for any Saturday night game on ABC in the last two years, and Clemson-Georgia had even higher ratings. I think the idea of bad football ratings on Labor Day weekend is a myth. Fans are ready for football.

If he was "built different", Rodgers wouldn't have looked washed up two years ago.
-
And yet, in five days there will be an NFL game on Friday night.
-
I completely understand.

There is a grand total of one college football game today. There is no reason not to be playing NFL games today.

49ers first round draft pick Ricky Pearsall shot in San Francisco

I can confirm that. Real estate prices in the cities are coming down though, as those who can afford to are moving. -
I’m not sure how anyone believes Rodgers is going to be the answer for the Jets this year. He last played football two years ago, and looked washed up then. He’s now two years older and coming off an old man injury that is usually a career-ender for anyone over 28 years old. I’m absolutely delighted that the Jets are running it back with him again.

There is absolutely no good reason we aren’t watching opening day games today. Until 20 years ago, this was opening day in the NFL. Pushing the regular season (and playoffs) deeper into winter is bad for fans and players. Will we see NFL games on Labor Day Weekend again?

Well argued.

I wasn’t just talking about the starting 5…I think we have excellent depth, too, including two very nice young tackle prospects.
-
We have Josh Allen and one of the three best offensive lines in football. The receiving talent is more than adequate, despite the lack of a clear no 1. Defense looks at least as good as last year. Schedule looks hard, but one never knows how that will work out. No reason to expect less than 11 wins.

Brandon Aiyuk Staying in SF - 4 Years, 120m
mannc replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Aiyuk's clearly top 10, arguably top 5. He's gotten better every year and had a huge year in 2023. -
I liked it better when it was called the Taxi Squad.
-
I have no idea how you can say "clearly worse" at OL. It is a definite strength of the team and the depth might be the best in the league. And how is the DL worse? Losing Tim Settle and Jordan Phillips? Carter seems to be a huge upgrade and edge seems about the same; lost Floyd (completely absent the second half of the season) but gain Von Miller a year further removed from surgery, as well as Smoot.

Good signing. He’ll be the backup for the first two games.
