  1. QBs are expected to struggle as rookies, and they have. Barkley has been outstanding, as expected, but he’s not going to ever perform much better. The QBs (assuming they become franchise QBs) will play much better in the next couple years and their teams will win a lot more games as a result. Barkley’s played about as well as he can and his team still hasn’t won. And it’s not at all clear that whatever QB they land will be anywhere near as good as they guys they could have had this year. Meanwhile, there is a Barkley-level RB talent available as a street free agent...
  2. Barkey’s “domination” has led the Giants to last place in the NFC East. No matter how good he is, the difference between him and a guy they could draft in round 2 or 3 won’t be huge. Hell, he’s not better than Kareem Hunt, who’s available now, free of charge! And the Giants won’t enjoy 4 years of a great young qb on a rookie deal—the best bargain in sports. If Allen or any of the other QBs become franchise QBs their franchises will be set for 10 years or more. Barkley is just a shiny fantasy foootball toy.
  3. That was 10 years; the Brady/Belichick ownership of the Bills is 18 years, and still going strong. And most of the losses—both home and away—have been blowouts. They have literally beaten Brady only twice during that time. (Not counting the Jacoby Brissett game or the game where Brady was pulled at halftime.)
  4. In the history of North American professional sports, no franchise has ever been owned by another franchise the way the Bills have been owned by the NE Patriots for the last 18 years. Never. It’s absolutely unprecedented.
  5. I have to say, though, the video replay of Gronk stumbling after Kenyon Drake like some drunk on Elmwood at 3:00 AM just never gets old.
  6. If they didn’t see the video, then they didn’t do much of an investigation.
  7. Not saying the Bills will sign him; just saying they should. I guarantee there are plenty of guys playing in the league who’ve done much worse things to women. As I understand it, Hunt is facing zero criminal charges from this incident. Zero.
  8. I thinks the Jets will also be a target for a team looking to trade up for a QB. They are going to be looking for receiving weapons, probably won’t be interested in taking a d-lineman, and will want to get back that 2d round pick they traded to Indy last year.
  9. Yeah, Bills fans are just a bunch of cry-babies. All this success and they’re still complaining. Hard to figure.
  10. It would not surprise me to see at least two WR going in the top 10. In 2017, everyone thought the Bills would have their pick of the top 3 WR in the draft, but all three were gone before the 10th pick. Teams are recognizing how important the position is—second only to QB.
  11. Yes, let’s cut our only true edge rusher, who’s probably having the best season of his career. Perfect. I don’t think so. But the way around it is to trade for another team’s grossly overpriced contract, like the Browns did with Osweiler.
  12. Stanford’s finest... There is a term for it: unnecessary roughness, and it’s a 15-yard penalty.
  13. Agreed, which doesn’t mean he should be retained. I feel very confident in saying that McDermott will be gone if the Bills don’t make major progress in 2019. As it should be...
  14. Yeah, I guess I would have to agree that most coaches in the NFL are mediocrities, but it doesn’t mean fans should accept a mediocre coach or lousy in-game decisions. It’s not that hard to get right.
  15. So I guess no coach is better than any other; it all simply depends on whether the players are any good? You really believe that? in-game decision-making is only a part of the coach’s job, but it’s the most visible to the fans, and there is no question that it can win or lose games. There is also no question that there are good and bad in-game decisions, based on probabilities, common sense and personnel. Most NFL games are close and can swing one way or the other based on a single play or a single call. Coaches that get those decisions wrong will probably cost their teams multiple games over the course of a season. That’s undeniable and it therefore is (appropriately) a fertile ground for second-guessing by fans.
  16. Of all the comments I’ve read here, this one is pretty shocking. Just shut up and watch?? Or cheerlead?
  17. Just because you say it, diesnt make it so. They won as many games as they lost, and that was with a horrific head coach.
  18. The team was .500 under Wrex Ryan, with the best offense of the drought years—hardly a disaster, hardly a team in need of a down-to-the-studs rebuild.
  19. To me, there’s no real difference between McDermott and Bowles. Defensive-minded, Jauronball, play-not-to-lose coaches who are not suited to the modern NFL. The sooner he’s shown the door, the better.
  20. Absolutely no reason the Clapper shouldn’t be on the hot seat. None. Marrone took the Jags to the AFCG last year and is in jeopardy. It is far from clear that McDermott knows what he’s doing.
  21. If Marrone can be on the hot seat in Jax after going to the AFCG, why not the Clapper?
