At this point, it doesn’t fit any NFL offense. -

Wow. That was special. Another run-run-pass-punt series from Daboll and I’ll be getting to the mall early today. -

Took the Pats 3 plays to gain back the 35 yards covered by that punt. -

35-yard punt? Might as well go for it on 4th. -
Thoughts on not making Anthony Lynn our HC?

So Lynn doesn’t deserve credit for getting them to play up to their potential? -
Thoughts on not making Anthony Lynn our HC?
mannc replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rivers’s career was in decline before Lynn got there—9 wins over the previous two seasons. -
On the other hand, for most of the game, the announcers were ball-washing Jackson in a way that never happens with Allen. Jackson is playing behind a really good o-line and has plenty of weapons at his disposal. We don’t have a single TE who would make the Ravens 53-man roster, and maybe one offensive lineman who would start for them.

Clay told he will be released this offseason?

Yep. Our TE position has been an embarrassment for as long as I can remember. And it’s not a hard position to fill. -

Yep. Rivers has had a revival since Lynn arrived and I think Lynn probably deserves some credit for that. -

Please stop with that nonsense. The Chargers went 5-11 the year before Lynn arrived and for the last two seasons they’ve been playing in a HS football stadium with zero home-field advantage. The team McDermott took over was 7-9, with the last loss being a mini tank-job vs the Jets in EJ Manuel’s swan song. And of course Lynn has demolished McDermott in their two head-to-head meetings. It’s fine to prefer McDermott to Lynn, but don’t pretend that Lynn started with a big advantage. -
Do you think Robert Foster can develop to into a #1 receiver?

You mean draft. -
Draft "misses" by Buffalo
mannc replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And terrible spelling. What’s not hindsight is that an interior defensive lineman never should have been selected over AJ Green and Julio Jones. -
Of course defense still matters, but it doesn’t matter quite as much as offense. It’s harder, and takes longer, to build a good offense than a good defense. We’re seeing some dominant defensive performances right now, in part because a lot of teams are really banged up, especially at QB. What concerns me about McBeane is that that they don’t seem to be very good at identifying or prioritizing offensive playmakers. Zay Jones is one example, but we don’t have a single decent RB or TE on the roster right now, either. How is that possible? The only WRs who can get open are an undrafted FA they cut earlier in the year and a guy they stole from the Broncos’ taxi squad mid season. Every offensive skill player they’ve drafted has sucked, other than Allen. I am afraid this offense isn’t going to be turned around in one offseason by bean and McDermott. They have put this team in such an offensive hole, that we legitimately need to bring in as many as seven new starters on offense, several of whom will have to be rookies. That’s going to be a huge task and it’s going to probably take half a season for that offense to gel, even assuming they pick all the right guys. One thing I definitely don’t want to see is our first pick, or two of our first three, used on defense, especially on the line or LB.

Why can’t we have a good Tight End?

mannc replied to BBills88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Foster has done more than carve out a role for himself. Since his emergence in the first Jets game, the Bills’ offense has looked completely different. Some of that is the improved play of Allen, of course, but Foster is showing what a huge impact one playmaking WR—even one who was a street free agent—can have on a team. It’s why adding a true number 1 receiver has to be the Bills’ top draft priority this year, and they probably should draft 2 or 3 WR to try to find one. Draft a TE, too. -
Rams and Bills May Have Discussed Hughes Trade
mannc replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. Hughes is one of the premier edge rushers in the league and he is having one of his best seasons. Stupid to trade him for anything other than a first...A far more valuable, and difficult to replace, piece than McCoy ever was. -
Newton has one great year (2015) and the rest have been mediocre to good. Let's compare him to Russell Wilson, a true franchise QB, a guy who came into the league one year later than Cam, and has played for a similar team--defense-oriented, not a lot of weapons. Newton hasn't had a 4000 yard passing season since his rookie year; he's averaging 7.3 yards per attempt for his career--with under 7 for 2016 and 2017--and his career TD/Int ratio is only 1.7. Wilson's career average is 7.8 YPA, with a TD/Int ratio of 3.1. Wilson's QBR has been consistently higher than Newton's and his team has won a Super Bowl. Their rushing stats are similar. Measured against a real franchise QB, Newton comes up short. He's a very talented QB whose performance for the most part has failed to measure up to best QBs in the game. He's still young though (for a QB) and he certainly could end up having a great career, but he has not been great so far.

Draft "misses" by Buffalo
mannc replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allegedly, they tried. Think about the Texans and the Jags, though. Both were at least as QB-deprived as Buffalo and they passed on Roethlisberger for a journeyman-caliber CB and WR, respectively. -
[Edited Title] Lions v Bills 4th and 2 Decision
mannc replied to IslandBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, but at the same time, going for it also gives them the best chance to win. A classic win-win. -
Yes, Newton has had a couple really good years (and his year at Auburn was possibly the best in college football history.) But the rest of his career has been pretty disappointing and he frequently says and does knuckleheaded things that you don’t want your franchise QB doing. As talented as he is, Cam is definitely not in the top tier of QBs in the league right now. I would put him in the Dalton Stafford category of “too good to get rid of, but not good enough to make you a consistent contender.” I will be disappointed if Allen doesn’t have a better career than Newton.

So many things wrong with this post, it’s hard to know where to start. Thank you. The key here is that a FG accomplishes next to nothing in this situation.
