  1. I agree. Every year, WRs get pushed up the board. In 2017, people thought we would have our pick of WRs at 10 and three ended up going in the top 9. My bold prediction is that the Jets select DK Metcalf at 3 (assuming they don't trade back). Like the Bills, the Jets badly need to get help for their young QB. They have been using high draft picks on defense for years, with zero impact on the win column.
  2. I think Beane shocks the world and takes Metcalf at 9. Reminds me of the Josh Allen pick: some serious question marks, but if there weren’t, a player with these tools wouldn’t be available here. He’s a guy other teams in the conference will hate trying match up with.
  3. Depends who’s available, of course. Lawrence, if he’s there. Or an edge rusher like Burns or Polite. Or an interior o-lineman.
  4. I think the drop off from DK to a second round receiver would be a lot greater than from Oliver to a second round DT.
  5. Great stuff. Thanks. I’m starting to warm to the idea of taking Metcalf at 9. I want someone who can put fear in the other team’s defense. We’ve needed a player like that for a long time. I know I would hate to see Metcalf on the Jets or the Pats.
  6. It's true that the Cardinals have sabotaged themselves, but if there is more than one team interested, which I'm betting is the case, they still might be able to get a first for Rosen.
  7. If you believe the stories, then, teams have already offered AZ a second round pick for Rosen. That sounds like there are GMs out there who like him. I don't know what AZ is holding out for, but it's possible a team will up their offer at some point before or during the draft. Rosen was the 10th overall pick last year. He didn't play great last year, but he wasn't awful, either, and his supporting cast was putrid. Rosen is to some extent a de-valued asset, but that's only because of the Cardinals' egregious mishandling of the situation, which has greatly diminished their own negotiating leverage. But there's really nothing Rosen's done on the field to make teams think he can't succeed in the league. For a frame of reference, Rosen's rookie passing stats are pretty comparable to Josh Allen's and no one is giving up on Josh Allen at this point.
  8. To my knowledge, there is no evidence to support the bolded statement. What am I missing? Are you saying this because no one has traded for Rosen so far? Are you privy to ongoing negotiations between the Cardinals and other NFL teams?
  9. Yes!! Let’s burn three or four more high draft picks on defense!! I love watching 9-6 football games!
  10. I watched the TT game, too. Oliver was invisible in the second half. I really feel like he’s a bust waiting to happen, but he seems to be our consensus pick and lots of people love him, so I guess I’ll just keep an open mind and see what happens.
  11. Ahem, aren’t you forgetting something? Neither NE game was competitive. Until that changes, this team’s not going anywhere.
  12. I don’t think so. I think McBeane is in “win now” mode. I’m not sure their seat is hot, but they can’t afford another 6-10.
  13. I agree with a lot of this. There is wishful thinking around here that teams like Miami and Washington are going shell out a king’s ransom to move up a few slots to 9. Not happening. I’m not as down on this QB class as you are, but I won’t be surprised if only one goes in the top 15. I think some WRs who don’t deserve it will get pushed up the board into the first round. And I agree there will be good ones available in round 2. I will be surprised if the Bills don’t go defense with their first pick, unless they manage to trade back. They think they’ve adequately addressed offense in free agency and won’t be desperate to grab a receiver or an OL.
  14. I'm sorry, but this is fantasy land. Miami is going to struggle this year and they are never trading next year's first round pick to move from 13 to 9. Never. Nor is Denver trading their second round pick to move up one slot. It is simply not happening. As I mentioned above, the Cardinals were able to move from 15 to 10 for Rosen last year and only gave up a third (plus a late round pick). There will be plenty of teams in the top 10 (including Detroit at 8, supposedly) who will be willing to trade down. I think it's going to be much cheaper than people think to trade up after Williams, Allen and Bosa are off the board.
  15. Not necessarily. The Cardinals only gave up a third (plus a late round pick) to move from 15 to 10 to pick Rosen.
  16. Exactly. It’s all based on highly subjective grades. It’s particularly meaningless when you are comparing, say, a running back and a defensive end.
  17. I have a feeling Gary is their guy, but I don’t think he’ll be available if they trade down.
  18. Exactly. The Jests have drafted some premier defensive talent the past 3-4 years and it hasn’t increased their win total one bit.
  19. Not a bust, but a poor selection given the other players available at that slot and at our original spot.
