  1. Interesting that KC immediately cut ties with Kareem Hunt, but apparently is hanging in there with Hill (even though allegations against Hill are potentially more serious)...positional value at work? Situational morals?
  2. If Hill only misses a few games, the Chiefs will be extremely formidable. They drafted Mecole Hardman, who is a Tyreek clone, and they get D’Anthony Thomas back from injury. Of course it’s possible that Mahomes is just a flash in the pan?
  3. Chiefs are probably going to get Hill back after four games and they drafted Mecole Hardman in round 2, just in case. I doubt they’re in the market for Foster, but as good teams know, you can never have too many offensive weapons.
  4. Bud Grant over Bill Walsh....I think you need a new system. i think a few Packer fans would disagree with McCarthy over Lombardi, too.
  5. You know you’ve got a really pathetic take when your only response is “We’ll see.”
  6. I would put the Browns’ O ahead of both Philly and LAC. They will be tough to stop this year.
  7. The Bills’ coaching and QB play in the early 70s was the worst in the history of the franchise, if not the history of the entire league.
  8. How about using OJ Simpson as a decoy/blocking back for his first THREE seasons in the league?
  9. Significant drop off after Buffalo. I would have expected Dallas to be higher (ranked 16).
  10. I’ll go with opponents’ yards per pass attempt. Top 4 last year: Chicago, Baltimore, Buffalo, Jacksonville.
  11. A. So what? This is a discussion board and there is a lot of good discussion here. B. This is not even close to an accurate summary of the views expressed in this thread.
  12. No, the fifth year option would have kicked in in 2018, not 2017. And it would have been up to the Bills whether to sign him for 2019 and beyond. And your analysis of the Rams’ decision omits the fact that the Rams netted a 3d round comp pick by letting Watkins leave.
  13. You’re not seriously suggesting that run-plugging DTs have a higher positional value than WRs are you?
  14. Even if they weren't going to keep Watkins, it seems to me it would have been smart to pick up the option because (I assume) it would have increased his trade value because teams would be acquiring him for at least two years, not a one-year rental. Also, as it turns out, the 5th year would have been a relative bargain at $11 million, even though Watkins had a less than stellar year with the Rams. There's no telling what would have happened if the Bills had kept Watkins, but I think it's safe to say they (1) would not have wasted a 3d round pick on KB and (2) they would have had a better receiving corps last year for Josh Allen (or whichever QB they ended up with).
  15. If I'm not mistaken, they got a third round comp pick when Sammy signed with the Chiefs--not a lot less than what they paid the Bills for him.
  16. What's your opinion of the decision to decline Watkins's fifth-year option? I think it's a pretty tough decision to defend.
  17. Feel free to not participate—or go post in the “Bills have the 19th best fan base” thread, or both.
  18. No one is saying they are failing because of Watkins. (Not sure how many people are actually saying they are failing; the doubters are mostly just saying that they are skeptical.) On the other hand, it's entirely fair to criticize the way the Watkins situation was handled, starting with the team's decision not to exercise the 5th year option. IMO, that was just a flat-out bad decision that hurt the Bill's leverage in any trade negotiations. And Sammy averaged over 1000 yards receiving his first two seasons with the Bills, so I guess you have to listen now?. You are entitled to your opinion regarding McDermott's job security. IMO, there is little difference between 6-10 and an 8-8 season in which the team was basically eliminated from playoff contention in early December and was non-competitive in both games against NE.
  19. Disagree. It's a good football discussion and there is evidence to support both sides. Where I differ from many here is that I believe this is a make or break season for McDermott (less so for Beane). I think an 8-8 season in which the team is playing meaningless December games could spell doom....
  20. "People" have no problem understanding that; they are just looking for evidence that the current Coach/GM truly know what they are doing. There's evidence on both sides of that coin, but it's really all going to come down to how well and how quickly the team's 22-year old QB develops. That's life in the NFL these days.
  21. It's by far the best football discussion happening right now on TSW. Feel free to go post in the "Kelly/Levy 8th best QB Coach Duo" thread...or the "Bills 19th Best Fanbase" thread.
