  1. McDermott should be fired if the Bills don’t make the playoffs. No excuses. There, I said it. It’s time for some urgency and some accountability around here. Our standards have been too low for too long.
  2. The fact that the players are so highly paid (relative to the rest of the workforce) tells us that in fact they are not so easily replaced. I don’t doubt that there are others who would willingly take their places, but they are quite simply not as good at what they do. If nothing else, the NFL (and pro sports in general) is very close to a pure meritocracy.
  3. Ok, name a few. Ralph Wilson bought the Bills for what, $50,000? I’ll grant you that buying a team today, at current prices, is risky, but these guys have had a license to print money for a long time.
  4. You do understand that there isn’t a true open market for NFL players, right? What “rights” do you think the players have asserted that they don’t deserve?
  5. What did you expect from him? Did you expect an NFL-ready prospect? Would you really “rule him out” based on these preseason games?
  6. Did you even read the article? The author is not saying Jackson should be on the 53. Or that he’s entitled to anything.
  7. I agree with the article. He’s very rough, but he has tools you can work with and he’s thrown some really nice balls, like on Ray-Ray’s double catch. We’re probably talking about a practice squad QB, not someone who will be on the 53. I don’t understand the hatred for this kid. What did people expect?
  8. Has he already run through all the money he stole from the Pegulas?
  9. So Lynn hasn't done as well as McDermott because he "only" won one playoff game and hasn't won a Super Bowl? And got blown out by the Pats? Do you hear yourself? How may playoff games has McDermott won? He's been blown out by the Pats four times. I never said Lynn has done an "awesome job"--although if someone were to say that, it' wouldn't be outrageous--but to this point in his career, Lynn has inarguably done better than McDermott has.
  10. Where was this "really good roster"? The Chargers were 5-11 the year before Lynn took over. The team is 21-11 under Lynn. McDermott took over a .500 operation and has gone 15-17, with a ton of blowouts losses, including two to Lynn's Chargers. It doesn't mean McDermott won't be successful, but it's downright foolish to suggest that he's done as well as Lynn in his first two years. Frankly, it's something only a homer would say.
  11. Good point. I have not heard many people mention that, but he does seem to be healthy now.
  12. Question: Is Clowney that much better than Shaq? I mean, I know he’s better, but is the difference between the two going to result in more wins for the Bills this year? I just can’t see it. It’s just one more move where the Bills are committing major resources to an already very good defense, when we have an offense that’s well below average.
  13. Has Luck actually said that he’s retiring because of his injuries? Although I’m sure injuries played a part, i thought he said he just lost his desire to play and compete. That’s a fairly long list of injuries, but not anything that would be considered career-threatening by itself. (Take a look at Ben Roethlisberger’s injury history sometime.) Luck’s knees are healthy and the Colts have finally put a team around him that can protect him and compete for a title. That’s what makes this so shocking.
  14. I was wrong. Brown had already played 10 full seasons. He was still near peak form when he retired, but it was a matter of time. He had already firmly established himself as the greatest RB of all-time, and maybe the best football player of all-time. Luck has has been a very good QB, but I think most would agree that his best years were still ahead of him. Despite the nagging injuries, there’s no reason to think he couldn’t have continued to play until he was 40.
  15. Not to mention guys like Fitz and Josh McCown...
  16. Jim Brown was a running back and had already played nine seasons in the NFL. His days were numbered. Luck has (had) perhaps a dozen more years left in his NFL career. NFW
  17. They are also aware that he might be released.
  18. I might be "blown away" if they were in their prime, but to my surprise, it does appear that they both have something left in the tank.
  19. As noted, McCoy looks ready to roll. I thought Gore looked spry as well, especially on the play were he was hurt on the late hit. Very encouraging.
