  1. Go watch the QB sweep right in the 4th quarter. Knox, Ford and Morse all block ghosts, while Cunningham practically hospitalizes Allen. You’ll be super extra-stupified.
  2. Funny, I thought the weather was fine in the dome on Saturday. How did so many Bills “lose their footing” on the same play?
  3. With all due respect, you're not making much sense here. If you want to know the right answer, go back and look at the posts by Motorin' on pages 17 and 18 of this thread. What the return man did here was make an illegal forward pass after a change in possession; it was a dead ball when it hit the ground, resulting in a 5 yard penalty from the spot of the pass. (see Rule 8, Section 1, Article 2, Item 1(d) and Item 2(c)) Because the foul occurred in Houston's end zone, the result is a safety for Buffalo. (see Rule 2, Section 29). Since the ball hit the ground, Buffalo could not have declined the penalty, but if they had intercepted it and returned it for a TD, they could have. (see Rule 8, Section 1, Article 2, Item 2)
  4. I’ll go back and look at the rule again, but I don’t believe a team can recover a forward lateral on a kickoff or punt, although it can be intercepted, just like a legal forward pass can. (I’m not sure what the rule is on non-kicking plays.) If I’m right, the referee obviously didnt know that part of the rule because he treated the toss as a live ball after it hit the ground and signaled Bills TD instead of a safety.
  5. What is wrong about it? I know. The flip is an illegal forward pass and the ball is dead when that illegal pass hits the turf.
  6. As soon as the ball hits the ground in the end zone, it’s a dead ball and a safety, so it doesn’t even matter that the Bills recovered it. If a Bills player had caught it in the air, though, it would have been an interception and a touchdown. Someone posted the rule 10 or so pages back and it’s actually pretty clear.
  7. This is thoroughly discussed elsewhere in this lengthy thread. It was an illegal forward pass and a dead ball the second it hit the turf. Because it happened in the end zone, by rule it should have been a safety.
  8. If you wanted to see a stupid rule enforced to the absolute letter—and contrary to common sense and the spirit of the rule—all you had to do was wait an hour for the crackback block call on Ford, where Ford was literally face-to-face with the defender.
  9. I don’t know if those guys are first round talents or not. I’m just talking about what I think the Bills will do if they are available. I think Chaisson is in play as a Lorenzo replacement.
  10. Sorry. I don't know what this means. Can you translate or re-phrase?
  11. Prepare to be disappointed. If someone like the guy from Penn State or K'Lavon Chaisson is available at 22, McDermott will not be able to help himself. The rationale will be that in this draft, there will be good WRs available in rounds 2 and 3.
  12. Yep. As good as Henry is right now, I guaranty that in another year or two, he will be banged up and overpaid, like almost every running back who gets a fat second contract. Pass. Don't you think it's unrealistic to think you can get Henry on a two-year deal? He's a prototype back and led the league in rushing over the past two years. He'll want (and probably get) a Zeke Elliott type deal.
  13. The responses in this thread are disappointing. There is no need to insult people who question whether Tre White deserves to be the highest paid corner in the league. We all love him, but he is primarily a zone corner and as such has different responsibilities than someone like Gilmore. Chris Simms, who is a big Bills fan, this morning said he does not believe Tre is a top five corner and that he is not in the same category as top cover corners who are asked to shadow the other team's best receiver all over the field. He literally mocked those who consider Tre on the same level as Gilmore or Humphrey. I'm not saying Simms is right, but the OP raises a legitimate question and it's unfortunate that the response here is just to shout him down.
  14. That's a little hard to believe. If I'm Miami, I just stay put and don't panic.
  15. Like Tre’Davious White before him, Chaisson was awarded jersey number 18 at LSU, hence he is definitely a high character guy as well. I could see this, as much as we need offensive help.
  16. I don’t remember what the situation would have been if it had not been called, but I think the Bills would have had better options than that. Correct me if I’m wrong...
  17. Well, Josh threw two balls directly to Texan defenders that both should have been intercepted and retuned for touchdowns. I can’t think of any robberies by the men in stripes.
  18. Almost perfect analysis. My only quarrel is with the bolded, which is not wrong, just irrelevant. As soon as the illegal forward pass hit the turf in the Texan's end zone, it was a dead ball and a safety. The Bills did not have to recover it to make it so. I'm not sure if it matters whether the ball actually landed in the end zone or whether it's a safety simply because the illegal pass was thrown from the end zone, but this one was both thrown from and landed in the end zone.
  19. Perfect. I might add another WR or two, as well. Punter?
  20. I looked it up too and you are correct. It should have been ruled a Bills safety, assuming he tossed it forward to the ref, which I think is what happened. If he tossed it sideways or backward, it's a fumble and a live ball. (Are we sure he tossed it forward?)
  21. No. They are not allowed to make such a judgment call on a kickoff return. That might be true on a quarterback scramble or a defensive back who's just intercepted a pass, but there is a specific rule that governs how the return man must "give himself up" on a kickoff into the endzone and there is no room for the referee to make such a judgment call.
  22. I don't think that's correct, but assuming it is, what should have been the result? Safety?
  23. You keep repeating this, but are you aware that there is an actual rule regarding how a kickoff return man may "give himself up"? If so, will you admit that that rule was not followed?
  24. This is a great twitter thread from Monahan. It really should end all discussion. The Bills were literally robbed of seven (or eight) points.
  25. I hadn’t thought of it that way, but in my mind it’s really a distinction without a difference.
