Do players know immediately if a rookie is good or bad?
mannc replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree. Justin Herbert is another example. He graduated early from high school and participated in Oregon’s spring practices as an 18-year old. The upcoming seniors and juniors were all talking about him, saying he needed to start right away. Unfortunately, it took Mark Helfrich half a wasted season to figure that out. I’m guessing the guys on the Chargers were saying the same thing last season when Anthony Lynn was rolling out Tyrod as the starter… -
This is pretty much the bottom line with the Watson situation, and it has been since the story broke. Unless he is vindicated, which seems highly unlikely, Watson is radioactive. No one, not even Stephen Ross, wants him as the face of their franchise. I think that’s also why Houston isn’t playing him: It would just be too embarrassing.

I saw that. It was Maurice Jones-Drew. Very interesting comment. I think he was initially talking about the Phins’ players’ lack of belief in Tua, but I might be misremembering it. -
10/18 MNF: N'Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks on ESPN

At about this point in the 2012 CFB season, West Virginia was undefeated and Geno was considered the front runner to be the first overall pick in the 2013 draft. Well, at least he’s still in the league. Was 2013 the worst draft of all time? -

Football with bad quarterbacks is just awful. Thank god Bills fans don’t have to live that anymore. -
The Watson trade rumors appear to have been put out by the Texans. Watson is still a Texan so yes, the rumors have been false, just like the one that he would be traded by the end of last week. I don’t believe anyone is trading multiple first round picks for him until there is a positive resolution of his legal situation.

I could see Tenn losing to Indy next week. Just doesn’t seem like a great matchup for them, and coming off two huge wins…

Plus the bust rate for o linemen drafted in top 7 is way too high. Chase was an absolute slam dunk. -

LOL anyone who thought the Bengals should have drafted Sewell instead of Chase. (Sorry Gunner…) -

Why do people spell his name this way? At any rate, yes, he’s regressed. He does not respond well to a strong pass rush. -

It’s looking that way, although “bad” is probably an exaggeration. -
Well, I sure as hell wouldn’t give more than a mid-round pick for him.

I just can’t see the Giants trading Barkley, especially to the Bills, mainly for political/PR reasons. It was absolutely insane to use the second pick in the draft on him, especially with Eli washed up and Josh Allen still on the board. Trading him to the Bills for a mid round pick now makes them look even worse.

Aikman: “Great job by Case Keenum trying to draw them offside with that hard count.” Seriously. -
