  1. If I'm Houston, I only do that trade if I really like Jimmy G, because those picks after this year are (1) in the future--obviously--and (2) likely to be very late in the first round. I'd hold out for another young impact player, like Deebo Samuel.
  2. That's the fatal flaw in the OP's scenario, along with the fact that I very much doubt Indy gives up two firsts for Matt Stafford. If Indy wants Stafford, and I'm not sure they would, they can just make the trade with Detroit directly and I bet it only costs one first. That may be true, but there are a lot of QB-needy teams this year and a team that thinks they are on the cusp, like Indy, might do it. And Indy's first is pretty late in the round.
  3. Kinda makes you wonder why he was inactive most of the year, doesn’t it? I can only guess that it’s because Buffalo didn’t burn a 3rd round pick on him. And I think he fumbled in a preseason game last year...
  4. The good news is that (1) the Dolphins actually don’t have a QB, and (2) they had three first round picks last year and failed to get a single impact player, at least so far. Maybe they will do better this year...they certainly are a team on the rise and not to be taken lightly.
  5. Good question. Despite the “we can’t run” narrative, the few times we tried to run, it was actually effective. “We won’t run” is more like it. Certainly had a better chance of success than drop back passes from the 5 yard line against a jail-break pass rush.
  6. Good grief. Jefferson just had a great rookie season. I have no idea what kind of stats he's going to put up for the next four years, much less over his entire career. It's possible that this year was a fluke, but it's much more likely that he'll still be a really good NFL receiver when Diggs is in decline or OOF.
  7. Other than Josh Allen, Tyler Bass might be Beane’s best pick...
  8. Those are division rivals. There are quite a few teams that aren't in the same division that still consider themselves rivals. Some examples from the past few years: Pittsburgh and NE, Buffalo and KC, Dallas and SF, Tennessee and Baltimore, maybe even GB and NO. NE and Indy (when they had Peyton Manning).
  9. It might, but there's no way they trade him to SF, IMO. Green Bay considers the Niners a major rival, even though they aren't in the same division.
  10. The typical trajectory is that players get better after their rookie seasons, not worse. The fact that you can name a few guys who got worse after their rookie seasons is not evidence that Jefferson will. FFS, he's 21-years old. Why would he regress? It's far more likely that Diggs, who will be 28 before next season, will never have another season like this one.
  11. When Rodgers was drafted, they did not have the same rookie contract rules. Nowadays, teams can't afford to draft a rookie QB in the first round and sit him for three years; they have to make a decision on him after his third year... As someone else pointed out, Indy becomes an instant threat to KC if they get AR. That is a very good team right now and AR would be a big improvement on 40-year old Philip Rivers.
  12. They have had Love in the building for a full season. We don’t know what they think of him after having seen him close up for an extended period. Maybe they think he’s ready, although I’m sure they don’t believe he’s going to match Rodgers’s production right away...
  13. They consider SF an arch-rival. Can’t see them trading him there.
  14. That’s fair, but wasn’t Diggs in that same situation last year with the Vikings?
  15. There’s no reason to think he won’t. Are you confident that in five years Diggs will be outperforming Jefferson?
  16. That’s true. In that sense, Rodgers has to take part of the blame for the FG.
  17. I recall saying no such thing. What are talking about? I’m sure you can explain it to me
  18. Not sure how you can say that. The Packers drafted a QB in the first round last year. What are they going to do, keep him on the bench until his rookie contract expires? Rodgers could easily be traded... i don’t know what Rodgers is worth, but it’s at least a first rounder, don’t you think?
  19. Jefferson finished with 1400 yards, averaged almost 4 yards per catch more than Diggs and had 1 less TD. That’s pretty damn comparable. And Jefferson was a 21-year old rookie.
  20. Also, I'm not sure why it wasn't intentional grounding, even if Allen had not gone out of bounds. There clearly was no receiver in the area and the ball did not go past the LOS.
  21. Based on his comments after the game yesterday, Aaron Rodgers may be an unhappy camper. He probably feels he's done as much as he can in Green Bay and I'm sure he's unhappy about the reprehensible FG call by LaFleur yesterday and the drafting of Jordan Love last year. If he demands a trade, what do people think GB could get back for him? What teams would be interested? (I'm assuming GB would have a strong preference to trade him to the AFC.) He's under contract for three more years. I say teams like Miami, Denver and New England would be possible landing spots. Maybe Carolina in the NFC. I would think the asking price has to be a first and a second round pick, at least, but it's going to depend how high the first round pick is.
  22. Maybe I'm still salty over that awful performance last night, but I'm not going to give Beane huge props for the Diggs trade. Diggs definitely had a great year, but I would argue that Josh Allen elevated Diggs, just as he elevated Beasley. And you're not even addressing the fact that the Bills could have stayed at 22 and picked Justin Jefferson, who's six years younger than Diggs, is on a much cheaper contract over the next four years, and put up numbers that were every bit as good as Diggs's this year, with Kirk Cousins throwing him the ball. Care to address that?
  23. I don’t think Oliver is a bust, but that was not a good use of the 8th overall pick. He looks like he’s barely better than a JAG-level player. He doesn’t push the pocket; he doesn’t get after the passer, which we were told he would be able to do. And Beane did not draft Dawkins. Under Beane, our day-two picks have been awful. The Ford pick in particular sticks in my craw because (1) we traded up for him, and (2) there were a TON of offensive playmakers on the board whom we ignored. And I hate to say it, but I don’t give Beane huge props for the Diggs deal. It worked out well, but anyone could see that Diggs was a already a very good player, so trading a first (and more) for him was hardly a stroke of genius. And of course the WR Minn drafted with that pick is an ORY candidate, so there’s that.
  24. Beane did not draft Tre White. And Ed Oliver is not living up to his draft status.
