  1. I'll admit that Jones isn't much of a threat to run with the ball--at least he never had to do it at Alabama--but Burrow isn't exactly Josh Allen, or even Justin Herbert.
  2. I don't buy that Burrow is that much more athletic than Jones. Jones ran a 4.8 at his pro day, which is more than adequate. I can't find a 40 time for Burrow, since his pro day was cancelled and he did not run at the combine, but it's unlikely he's much faster than 4.8. The fact that Jones wasn't a basketball star probably isn't much of an indicator of his potential as an NFL QB, otherwise Charlie Ward would have been a star in the NFL.
  3. Carter is faster than Williams and he always, always beats the first defender...
  4. You might be right, of course, but that seems like an awfully subjective standard and a pretty thin basis for one guy being the consensus number 1 pick and the other guy a borderline first rounder...Both played pretty much perfect football in their last seasons in CFB, and both had similarly astounding supporting casts, so it won't do to say "But Jones was at Alabama..."
  5. With all due respect, I don't know how you can make this statement.
  6. Why are so many people incredulous that SF might take Jones at 3? Shanahan probably sees him as similar to Joe Burrow--a guy without elite athleticism and who might not have a cannon, but who always makes the right decision with the ball and can deliver it where it needs to go. I don't understand why Jones doesn't draw more Burrow comparisons...
  7. That's possible. It's more likely that they suspect Tua might not have what it takes, but feel they need to give him another year, to be sure. And they don't want to look like complete idiots for drafting him instead of Justin Herbert.
  8. I agree. In fact, I think all draft-related threads should be locked--hell, all threads should be locked--and the mods should just open one big Beane/McDermott Appreciation Thread. Maybe a Terry and Kim Appreciation, thread, too. Think how much more work all of us could get done...
  9. Lance’s supporting cast was every bit as dominant at the 1AA level as Jones’s was in Div 1.
  10. In cases like this, it is standard procedure for the defense to request view only access to ALL of the plaintiff's social media accounts. The stuff a plaintiff posts there is every bit as admissible as her emails and other communications. As to family and friends, that can be dealt with by redacting content or names that are considered irrelevant (although that can be tricky) and/or by entry of a confidentiality order that prohibits public disclosure or other uses of the information that's turned over. If someone's family or friends were being harassed by the defense team, that would be brought to the judge's attention and dealt with swiftly and severely. It's also helpful to remember that the plaintiffs will probably be provided access to all of Watson's social media content, as well. From what I understand, you're right; stuff like Snapchat disappears quickly, if not immediately. Not much they can do about that, unless the content could be obtained by subpoenaing the social media company. (Not sure if that's possible.)
  11. Making a social media account private is one thing. But I can tell you that if you are a plaintiff in a case like this, scrubbing or deleting things from your social media account--especially content that might be relevant to the case--can lead to very serious legal consequences, including dismissal of the case. It doesn't matter how afraid you might be of doxxing or harassment.
  12. I agree, but it’s not clear what is meant by scrubbed. And if they just made their accounts private, that would not be a problem. I don’t know how Watson’s team could know at this point whether the accounts have been scrubbed or deleted...
  13. Read his post. He acknowledges that Shanahan did not tell Simms who he’s drafting. They are not taking Lance. That would be totally reckless.
  14. I kinda think the talk of it being a weak class is overblown. It’s weak in some areas (DE and DT) but strong in others (WR and CB seem pretty good) and QB class looks at least as good as last year.
  15. I didn’t say he was good. But he was better than Wentz.
  16. Their second round rookie played much better than Wentz did, with the same supporting cast.
  17. If we’re gonna play this game, then we gotta also count every dropped pass by his receivers. Knox alone would make a pretty long highlight reel. JA might have had a 6000 yard season...
  18. Sorry, I’m not buying the “Wentz as victim” card. He stunk. Obviously Reich thinks he can be saved, though. Seems like a pretty big gamble, with no real back-up plan, for a team that could contend.
  19. It was this past fall. Wentz was literally the worst starting QB in the NFL last year. It’s incredible what the Eagles were able to get in return for him. And I can’t believe the Colts are handing over the keys to him...That’s a team that’s ready to contend.
  20. I don't think he's fast enough to be a great back in the NFL. He doesn't look fast on his tape and his refusal to run at his pro day is a red flag. In truth, I think he'll probably be the 2nd or 3d RB off the board, but I like the 4:1 odds I'm getting from New Era😄
  21. When and where? There was no combine this year and Harris took a powder at his pro day. 4.45 guys don't get caught from behind like he does. Etienne runs 4.45 and Harris is nowhere near as fast as he is. See above
  22. I don't see any way we don't take a CB with either 30 or 61. It's our only real need and it seems to be a pretty good CB class. I think TE won't happen until 5th round or later, if at all. I think they still like Knox's potential a lot.
