  1. Wait, I read here that Gruden just up and resigned…so he was actually forced to resign?
  2. It's anything but easy. I'm not sure what sort of contract (if any) governs the conduct of team owners, but I'm pretty sure a lawsuit to force Snyder to sell would be extremely risky. Danny Boy doesn't seem like the kind of guy who will go quietly and he's likely to be around for decades to come.
  3. The NFL has fared poorly in its lawsuits against club owners. They are going to tread very, very carefully in dealing with Snyder and the WFT organization.
  4. As I said above, it's highly unlikely that Gruden just walked into Davis's office and said "I quit." There was undoubtedly a negotiation. I have not seen Gruden's contract, but it's unlikely that emails Gruden sent 10 years ago as a private citizen would have given Davis a clear-cut basis to terminate him for cause. Hence, Gruden probably had significant leverage in the negotiations and probably walked away with a nice "severance package."
  5. It’s a nearly meaningless stat. Mac Jones: 71.1 % completion percentage for the year.
  6. I’d have to actually see the contract, but Gruden likely had plenty of leverage. Things would have been worse for the Raiders if he had decided to tough it out, like Urban Meyer seems to be doing. And my point is, his “resignation” was negotiated; he didn’t just walk into Davis’s office and say “I quit.”
  7. It will never be public, but it’s highly unlikely that Gruden just resigned without being paid a significant amount of the money that would have been due. If the Raiders had fired him, he probably would have had a good argument that they were on the hook for the remaining six years. And the way the team is going this year, Gruden would have been on the hot seat anyway after the season. So Davis probably ends up saving a lot of $, even though he’s paying out $10 million or so in “severance”.
  8. I’m pretty sure Gruden will see a fair amount of the money remaining on his current contract with the Raiders. They probably cut a deal, and agreed to pay him out through 2023 (or something like that) if he would agree to “resign”.
  9. Understood. I just wanted to make clear that those are two totally different animals.
  10. But social media is entirely different than private emails. Anytime you post something on social media, you’re posting it to the world (although some social media accounts are “private”, i.e. open only to a select group.)….much greater expectation of privacy associated with an email sent to one person, especially if that email is sent from your own private email account, rather than your employer’s account. It is most certainly not the norm for a potential employer to ask to see someone’s private emails. That just doesn’t happen, for a lot of reasons.
  11. I clicked on the link and ended up having to listen to 30 more seconds of Collinsworth…still worth it though.
  12. No love for Tyler Bass, arguably Beane's best pick last year? If the Bills get to and win the Super Bowl, I can pretty much guaranty Bass will have played a very significant part...
  13. Initial line was Bills -3.5; it's already up to Bills -5.5. Word is getting around...
  14. I didn't say Poyer deserved to be penalized. Just that it was the kind of hit that for the last 10 years I've waited in vain for the Bills to lay on Gronk, Edelman and/or Jarvis Landry...
  15. You forgot to mention Poyer’s nasty hit on Kelce, which was worth a dozen 15-yard penalties.
  16. Baldy’s Breakdowns are absolutely awesome this morning
  17. Or the phantom roughing call on Oliver that led to a KC touchdown
  18. I don’t think Kelce is well-liked…I saw Poyer get quite a few high-fives after that hit…
  19. Best game of Josh Allen’s career, and that’s saying a lot.
