  1. Desean Jackson, taken 8 picks after the Bills selected WR James Hardy in the 2008 NFL draft…Calais Campbell was the next selection
  2. Bills’ receiving corps is definitely not the problem, but they aren’t the solution, either. It’s a solid (albeit aging) group, but they lack the real speed that’s needed to spread the field, especially with a QB like Josh Allen. Davis is OK, but to have added only a WR 4 in these past three drafts is pretty poor. It’s going to be a much bigger need in 2022…
  3. This is an underrated Bills need…the past three WR drafts have been deep and full of difference makers and we’ve added….Gabe Davis…sorry, not good enough.
  4. You could make the case that we are now fighting just to make the playoffs—that the first seed in the AFC is a pipe dream—in which case, sure, we should be rooting for NE to lose, since we’ll probably only be able to split with them anyway, the way things are going. That’s probably a more realistic way to look at it.
  5. McBeane deserve a ton of credit for targeting and drafting Josh Allen (it’s the main reason neither is on the hot seat) but I disagree that Allen has been put in a perfect situation, and I think it’s silly to argue that Allen would have failed elsewhere. In his first two years, Allen had probably the worst receiver group in the league to work with and an average offensive line. Since they took Allen at number 7 overall, the Bills have used most of their premium draft picks on defense, and three of the high picks they have used on offense have been busts or JAGs. I hate to think how unstoppable Allen would be if the Browns had drafted him and given him the same offensive weapons and o-line Faker Mayfield has had in Cleveland. Yes, the Bills have done a good job developing Allen, but it’s been far from perfect. There’s no excuse for him to be working behind such a porous offensive line at this point, and I’d argue that his offensive weapons are at best slightly above average. Neither Beasley nor Diggs ever had anywhere near the production they’ve had since they were paired with JA. And although Knox is developing nicely, most teams have at least two viable TEs on the roster, and the Bills’ RB room is, as we now know, pathetic. Lastly, the idea that the Jets poisoned Darnold should be firmly laid to rest now that he’s flamed out in Carolina, after less than half a season. You could make a better case that Darnold poisoned the Jets; certainly trading three second round picks to move up to select Darnold—when Allen would have been sitting there at 6—was a Chernobyl-level catastrophe for that franchise.
  6. As distasteful as it seems, we should be rooting for NE to beat the Titans. The Titans have effectively a 2-game lead on us and a very easy remaining schedule. The Bills have two games left with NE and, as bad as we’ve played at times, we absolutely can take care of our own business and win both those games. In fact, I’m hoping NE is favored going into that Monday night game…
  7. There are plenty of guys on the roster (and in the WR room) who have contributed zero, so I'm not sure what there is to lose. And as we've seen with Matt Breida, this staff isn't particularly good at evaluating their own personnel, so Stevenson could be a budding superstar, for all we know...
  8. We’re getting to the point of the season where some teams are starting to mail it in, even on national TV. It’s painful to watch, especially when a hated team like NE is on the receiving end of such an effort…
  9. Almost as bad as Pats-Falcons, but not quite…
  10. There have been some good prime time games this year…that definitely was not one of them.
  11. I’m sure he won’t make much of a difference this year, but I’d kinda like to see what Stevenson can do. At least give him a chance in the return game…
  12. It tells you there was something else behind the decision Star made last year…
  13. That’s an exaggeration. He was abysmal last year. He’s improved to near average this year.
  14. With a cupcake schedule and an expanded playoff system… Jacksonville shut down our offense in perfect weather.
  15. Don’t look now, but our WR core is going to need a serious injection of talent after this year too. We’ve really got no one to stretch the field, and Beasley and Sanders probably won’t be back regardless. And of course there’s nothing behind Knox at TE…
  16. He’s a non-factor. Think how much different this defense would be with Jeffrey Simmons instead of Oliver…
  17. One of many wasted day-two picks…after a while it comes back to haunt you…
  18. Come on man, you can’t give the other team the ball on your 12-yard line, right after your defense was on the field for 10 minutes…
  19. The Bills are going to need TDs on every drive…no FGs or punts…every drive four-down territory.
  20. This reminds me of the Utah-Oregon game last night: The higher ranked team just completely overmatched and blown out.
  21. This is not a particularly talented team. It is 100 percent reliant on magic from number 17…sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t.
