  1. whitner is winfield at safety....end of story. i was very pleased with the pick. fewell and jaroun have so many options with this kid, in the box, blitzing, nickel back ability. range as a safety, great smarts, the best pure tackler in the draft. with his measurables and teprament i see him as a ronnie lott type. like i said whitner is winfield at safety!!
  2. mcgahee was never even close to 230 he weighed in at 223 at the combine and that was after 4 months of strength training and if u drink tons of water before u weigh in u can add 2-3 pounds. he was definetly between 215-220, i remember reading that mcgahee weighed in at 241 before the 2004 training camp. if someone gains 20 lbs they will slow down.
  3. i would trust jaroun when it comes to drafting defense. all of our 2nd day picks on defense easily had 1st day ability and should have been picked somewhere around the first day, even ellison. its a very old saying but when the giants defense worked the bills or when the pats secondary punished the rams recievers or remember the ravens and bucs defenses? all those teams had great defenses and defense isnt flashy but it wins superbowls, hell the colts still havent won anything yet except for regular season hype!! this draft reminds me of when the 49ers took all those db's in the 84 draft including ronnie lott!! i would like to think that whitner, youboty, and simpson will start and be very good football players for years to come!
  4. i'm being optimistic like every fan in the offseason but if mcgahee gets down to 220 by training camp, the weight he played at in college do u guys think he can get his unique explosion back? i was watching taking it to tempe a video from 2002 season of the miami hurricanes and he was so explosive and way smaller compared to now, especially in his legs. in the syracuse game it looked like he was 215-220. i think if mcgahee loses 15-20lbs and the o-line stays healthy and improves, shows some consistency, he could be a game breaker every week just like he was in college when he had a 40 yd play every game. i am not being bias but he was just as explosive as reggie bush in his last year at miami..the one play that sticks out is the screen play against the seminoles mid season that went 68 yds. two guys had angles by like 10-20 yards and mcgahee accelerated and blew by kyle hall and some other corner it was the sickest 20 yard explosion i have ever seen from a 220 lb back period and i have seen alot of rb's!! what do u guys think
  5. in this day and age of equal talent across the board i would say if our defense can get back into the top ten and just have avergae o-line play then yes we got a shot at the play-offs assuming jp improves and wins a couple games for us i love are picks and never judge anyone no matter what on draft day because no one knows really, especially us whitner mccargo youboty simpson williams and butler could all start and be solid with are first 4 having pro bowl potential just on talent alone. count on whitner starting from day one and having the surreal play of a veteran!!! the guy will be antoine winfield at safety which i would have gladly taken at 5. i saw alot of big ten games so trust me
  6. stiffler how do u know that the lions were not going to take whitner, the best pure safety prospect, huff is a tweener and plus he's not from ohio st B the next 5-8 selections all had a need or possibility of drafting him. the kid is antoine winfield at safety and if he stayed in school another year, clearly a top 5 pick easy. he can play corner also so that adds another demension to our defense and takes alot of pressure off are lb's i see this kid as another donovin darius with nickel corner back skills!! that also sounds like a ronnie lott description to me, he played corner too. i watched alot of big ten games and this guy was one of the most important players for that buckeye defense if not the most important! trust me this year he will be the most surreal player and fan favorite by mid season....
  7. i know both mccargo and williams are capabel of playing the nose but is it possible that we get another nt in fa or after june 1st. both are natural 3 technique guys and are better on the edge, i like anderson alot, reminds me of a john parrella or chris hovan but just for a year or two i think it might pay to get a grady jackson or anyone with legit starting experience, not sure who is stil available. i give the draft a b, gotta love those buckeyes db's
